Madden 08 has released their players who are rated 99 overall. I dont really recall any players in the 2k franchises being 99 overall (correct me if Im wrong). And I definately dont think that they would have nearly 10 players with the rating.

Peyton Manning (QB Colts), Champ Bailey (CB Broncos), Walter Jones (OT Seahawks), LaDainian Tomlinson (RB Chargers), Steve Smith (WR Panthers), Brian Urlacher (LB Bears), Steve Hutchinson (OG Vikings), Ed Reed (S Ravens), Troy Polamalu (S Steelers)
I can understand that players are in their primes. Some are unstoppable, but most are containable. So tossing around the 99 rating to me is a little rediculous. What do you guys think?

I think APF isn't using number ratings anymore and this has nothing to do with this game what so ever.

idk... as was noted by 2k when talking about their new rating system, there is little difference between a 98 and a 99, so not a big deal.
BTW, I am sure there were players/a player rated 99 in 2K5

Maddens ratings are usually pretty accurate, and yes players deserve 99, now 100 is a different story.

No player in NBA 2K7 is a 99. The highest is a 98 including Kobe as well as Wade and LeBron. But I don't believe any player in a sports game should be a 99. Then if you add a Hall of Fame player to the game, what would his rating be. It would have to be a 99. I can see arguments for some of those guys.. but not 10.

i've seen some NBA 2K7 HOF's players rated as high as 104... same in NFL 2K5... i've seen some rated as high as 101 maybe even higher.

A player with a 100 rating? I thought every player in the game stopped at 99. How are players above that.

I say that video games take the highest rated player, rated him a 95, and use that as the new ratio/proportion for every other rating. For instance, I remember when once talking with the Blue Shift WSB 2K3 Game Designer, and he said that the "100" rating was really not true, and players like Bonds were actually rated 147. So, for example, say he was the highest rated player... he would be rated 95, so everybody else in the game would use that 95/147 ratio or multiplier or whatever. So, somebody in the game originally rated a 95 would now be 95 x (95/147) = 61 rating. Yes, that is low... but hey.

Marvin Harrison, Randy Moss, and Terrell Owens were all rated 100 in NFL 2K5, I believe.
The only current players that deserve 99 Overall Ratings are Peyton Manning, Ladainian Tomlinson, and Champ Bailey. Ed Reed is arguable, as is Walter Jones. A couple years ago Jones was definitely a 99, but he's getting older and is falling off a bit.

How did they not make Jason Taylor who wheres number 99, a 99 rating?! Yeah, he may be aging but he hasn't shown real signs of it. Guess they don't like Dolphins. He was the DEFENSIVE PLAYER of the YEAR!

They all definitely deserve their rating, except for Polamalu, who should be low 90s. I think some others deserve 99 also, like Marvin Harrison and Tony Gonzalez.

Forget 99, there are a few players in NFL 2K that we 100. Owens was one for sure, I think Moss was 100 as well as Harrison. Can't remember what Peyton was rated.
