Ok, first off the post game has gotten tougher to control than in the last one. A lot of the times when I try to do an up and under move and then go to a layup my guy will either just shoot a wild turn around or do the up and under and then go straight up with a j right into the defender and never get a foul call. I think it would be easier if you did something like the following configuration. When you are locked into the post you wouldn't need to hold LT but you could use it to switch what way you are facing, RT for drop step. Y could be spin to the hoop since it is the spin button anyway. B could be the up and under since you dont really use a crossover in the post. With the shot stick, toward the hoop, hook. away from the hoop fade away. to either side turn around. back and to the side turning fade. forward at an angle, layup moves around the guy. Also, there should be more dunks from the post. Nothing like 2k6 where I could just take any old 7 footer and dominate the post with easy post dunks, but when the dunk is there you should be able to make it.
Now with making post offense easier and stronger you should make post D able to compensate. First you should be able to fight for position and move an offensive player or deny them movement without them having the ball. You can do this in real life so why not in the game. This would make the offensive players actually have to post up to get the ball in the post more ofter and I think they should have to. Also, if it gets too rough then have an away from the ball foul but dont make it too touchy to where you can't bang around. Also, when you get locked in maybe make some specific steal and block moves for being locked in to the post. Maybe like move the right stick sideways from the guy to reach around and try the steal with the corresponding hand and still stay locked in and maybe back away from him to put your hands up to contest the shot.
Another thing that really irritates me is the passing. Why is it that no matter how good my team unity is we dont seem to go a full game without throwing a pass off a defenders back or foot or something, or maybe even our own guys back. These aren't people playing the passing lanes, or else it would be ok. It would just be good defense. These are just people standing around or running down the court not watching the ball. Also, 99 time out of 100 there is a pass that could be made between the person throwing the ball and the person catching it, its just they choose the wrong way to get the ball there. They will throw a bounce pass when it should be a chest pass or a chest pass when it should be an overhead or a bounce pass. Also, on fast breaks they throw way to many lazy bounce passes. Fast breaks and outlet passes should be crisp chest passes or solid overhead passes almost every time. Bounce passes are really only good at trying to fit passes through tight situations like in the paint and such.
Also blocking shot, why is it that the following situation should ever occur. 6'0" point guard drives the lane, beats his man, slips under the 7'0" center and goes for a reverse layup. Waiting there is a 6'10" PF. He jumps up like he is going to pound this reverse layup into oblivion, but wait, rather than even swinging at or even near the ball he goes over or around the ball to swing at the driving PGs head or shoulder or something. Sure the ball was right in front of him between his opponent and him, but he doesn't even come close to that. That shot should be blocked most of the time and the PF should always at least swat at the ball, not the player.
One last thing, when a player dives for a loose ball, other players should be able to dive with him for one, and when he gets it rather than everyone just standing around, maybe you could go into like the out of bounds thing where you control the person who he is going to throw too so you can move them. maybe try to make a passing lane or something.
