View Full Version : PLAYERS BY STAR STATUS
golden28
July 1st, 2007, 03:44 AM
Ok, here's a list of all the players in the game, rated by the star status that I have been able to decipher from the available videos. Sorry it's not more complete but I can only work with what I'm given.
There may be some mistakes and some of you may know what some of the unknown players are, so please let me know and I will update accordingly.
Hopefully we can get a good list before the game drops so we can start planning our teams.
EDIT: Massive thanks to tpaterniti for his full list of players which has been incoroporated into my original list. This now allocates all players originally specified as in the game. Mistakes are inevitable as we have had to make an informed guess as to where some will end up in the final game. ENJOY!!
* Thanks to Decider 13 and also Toth16

I would have thought that T. Boseli would be at least a silver tier player.
What players stand out to you guys as being either over or under rated?
golden28
July 1st, 2007, 07:15 AM
I think that Randall Cunningham is going to be in a lot of peoples teams.
Silver star is a steal for a player who can run and pass that well.
It also frees up what should have been a gold in my opinion.

Cheers, I'm sure I read that Emmitt was a gold so I'm going to put him in there. Please correct me if I'm wrong, I also heard Deacon Jones was a Silver so he's going in too.

These are just my assumptions of gold players in your unknown
Jack Tatum, Shannon Sharpe(wasn't listed but he is in the game), Gino Marchetti, Deacon Jones, maybe Dwight Stephenson, Anthony Munoz, Joe Jacoby
****"Night Train" Lane( I saw him on your list as silver but i didnt see that in the game, he should be gold), Harry Carson probably, Reggie White, Jack Lambert.
I read your post that Deacon Jones was a silver, that would really surprise me. Both Deacon and Night train are on the all time NFL team and it would be a shame to be silver. But they will be on my team if they are.:)

Hmmm. I may be making a mistake here.
You see I had Deacon down as a gold on my team (as I just presumed he would be as he's a beast) but then I saw a thread from someone else who had him in as a silver so I took their word for it. Does seem odd he's only a silver. Made my day.
I didn't actually see this one on a video, all the others I did though.
Guess we'll just have to wait and see.

I feel the same way about Deacon and Night Train, I had thought they were gold but it makes my day to think they are silver.
Also does anyone have any imput about Harry Carson? I figured he was gold cause of the 9 pro bowls and being in the HOF, but im hoping he is silver.

Just looked through all the pics and vids again and no sign of Mr Carson sorry.
Looked him up on Wiki too, WOW, what a player. Nice to see he spoke out about the HOF selection process yet still got in.
Shows that people making the decisions weren't bigoted enough to not let him in

Yep. Once the game becomes a success and a staple in the home (like Madden) then all of the legends will want to be in it and the money side of things should be less of a problem.
Once 2K know they can sell this game then they will be able to get more aggressive in the pursuit of more legends.
Expect to see loads more legends available for download once the game takes off.

He likes to be referred to as William The Refrigerator Perry, or The Fridge, not William The Fridge Perry. Also, bronze is a definately a stretch for him as a defensive tackle. Charisma, he is all gold. He made his name because he was fat, and got to carry the ball a handful of times, not because he was great in comparison to DTs that earn the title legend. Not to mention look who was standing directly behind him...mike singletary, next to him, pro-bowler richard dent, and on the other side pro-bowler Dan Hampton and pro-bowler Steve McMichael. The fridge never made it to the pro bowl, and was the weakest link on one of the best alltime d lines. save the pick for someone useful.... you are all welcome.

I don't know about some of the other ones but I'm almost certain Night Train Lane is going to be gold.
Unless someone wants to post a screen cap that shows otherwise, I'm going with that assumption.

what about "touchdown" tommy vardell?
you know the two best defences in the last 25 years had one tub of lard guy to protect the outstanding linebackers. the fridge for the bears, tony saragusa for the ravens. they hold up olinemen and keep them from getting to who they are supposed to, so yeah he may have limited tallent and just be a bronze fat guy, but you can put a studd lb behind him and make him even better

Here is an updated list. The categories with the || means that the group is closed.
A single * indicates that a player was assigned to a level by Golden28, but I have not seen a video or picture to confirm it, although this doesn’t mean that I think it is wrong. Three *** mean that this players exact level is unknown, but I have placed him where I thought he would end up based on some of the principles I described above.

HOLY SH*t we just posted the same thing!!!
Well, that makes my post worthless now:lol:
EDIT: well actually on second look you do have a few things wrong.
For one Jack Tatum is a Sliver this can be confirmed by listening to the 1UP podcast were they talk about drafting their teams. Jesse Tugle is also said to be a Sliver Outside Linbacker.
Another is that Derrick Thomas is a gold OLB, this can be confirmed if you Watch the Gamespot Hands -On Demo, while the guy is picking what team to play against. He is listed as a gold player for the Indians.
Another thing is you can see the entire list for Sliver and Bronze TE's and Mike Ditka and John Mackey are not on either of them so they must be Gold. Roosevelt Brown is not on the Sliver T list either so he's probally a Gold.
Finally Lou Groza is a bronze.
Besides that excellent job!!!

I don't know about some of the other ones but I'm almost certain Night Train Lane is going to be gold.
Unless someone wants to post a screen cap that shows otherwise, I'm going with that assumption.
I still have a hard time thinking Night Train isnt gold. I would also like to see a screen cap if anyone has it.
BTW great job on the lists guys, I can make my full team now.:)

2. I want to be as balanced as I can ( with a slight lean to pounding the rock on offense, lol)

Nice job again.
I noticed a few more, for one Russ Grimm is a Gold, I saw this once again at the team select screen.
The only other things I noticed where that you had stars on players that I have confirmed.
Here they are...
1.Steve Tasker
2.Tony Martin
3.Willie Gault
4.Wesley Walker
5.Yancey Thigpen
6.Merril Hodge
7.Mike Ditka
8.Shannon Sharpe
9.Bob Brown
10.LC Greenwood
11.Dexter Manley
12.D|ck Butkus
13.Ronnie Lott
14.Dwight Stephenson
Finally Larry Dixon is just a generic player(at least he was in the Demo)
If you don't want to remove the stars until you can confirm yourself them thats fine.
Once again nice job and keep up thr good work.

TRUE, BUT The "Nigerian Nightmare" was plagued by nagging knee and hamstring injuries throughout his career. He was a BEAST when he was healthy, though.
I heard Okoye was a Bronze pick from the 1up guys. He IS such a STEAL, isn't he? LOL!

I'm shocked that Chuck Muncie is silver tier, better for me. From 1979 to 1983 most analyst thought he was the best running back in the game. Him being a silver is just unbelievable.
