1UP still bashing 2K8 FB!

I listened to the "1UP Yours" podcast and Bryan from EGM/1UP is still bagging on 2K8 FB... and still going out of his way to praise the 2 EA games. He almost seems like a Right Wing Conservative Republican in the Media who deosn't even realize how SLANTED his views are on something. For some Reason EGM and 1UP have gone very easy on the last 2 Madden games for 360 and given them a pass on ****ty games.

I've said it before. Gamespot is the only place to trust for Sports game reviews. All the others have their hands in the EA cookie Jar... get invited to EA to Smooze etc... and when it comes time for being FAIR reviewers/previewers they always give EA a positive write up.

I mean how could EGM, 1UP or IGN give Madden 06 for 360 anything over a 7.5/10?
If they were being honest it would have gotten a 5.5/10.

Oh well... it goes to show there's just as much politics and payolla type crap in the gaming world as there is in anything else. Don't want to burn any EA bridges now do we EGM/1UP?

EA has always been like that. If you crap on their games they'll freeze you out the next time around. Since EA is the biggest 3rd party developer it scares websites and magazines into licking EA hairy bean bags even though they know they don't have the best games.

Actually, Yes...It wont neccessarily make them bankrupt but they will definately feel the pain...What does 1up have to gain from bashing or going hard on EA?...Nothing but journalistic intergrity...Last time I checked, the bank wasnt accepting journalistic intergrity as currency...Its politics and business...Its a cycle...Ea pays 1up money to advertise their game, 1up gives their game positive publicity which leads to more sales for EA...More sales for EA more money for 1up...See???!...The reverse is also true...bad reviews, less sales, less money for advertising

What were so outlandish about my claims? I pointed out how Bryan goes out of his way to Knock 2K8 FB and put a NEGATIVE feel towards the game. Who gives a flying F' about the cover art of a game to the point where you spend 15 minutes of a half hour podcast ripping it and making fun of 2K8 FB? Bryan from EGM/1UP in a million years would not knock an EA cover with this type negativity he has towards 2K8 FB even if it were the worst cover on the planet ever made. Sorry if I call 'em as I see 'em man.

And forget the cover bashing. Go listen to the '1UP Yours' podcast where Bryan once again goes out of his way to try and bag on 2K8 FB... and lather EA's balls with their game. I have a theory. Zuniga is the ONLY diehard sports reviewer at 1UP/EGM... and the only one who knows how to review a sports game properly. Bryan and the others at EGM are CASUAL sports fans... and those type gamers will ALWAYS lean to the EA's dumbed down and easy to pick up and play type sports games. I can't rely on an EGM Sports reviewer who 90% of the time is playing other genre's of games to preview and review. I need a 100% Sports NUT giving me the scoop. Not someone who just played Halo 3 for six hours and than Madden and 2K 8 for 2 quarters for their impressions.

The problem I have with Bryan... who's a nice guy by the way... is that he ALONE is the ONLY one raving about EA's games... and bagging on the 2K8 FB game. In fact if your read GI or Gamespots previews they basically gush over 2K8 FB and than kind of give Madden nice compliments on finally improving the game over the last 2 pieces of garbage.

I just want honesty out of these Gaming media people. And sometimes I think there's more to it than just a game being reviewed/previewed. I think whoever pointed out the stuff about EA buys a TON of the advertising which pays the 1UP bills... and in Return you have staff members who are basically being shills for EA pushing their games while pouring negativity on the competition. It really is like slime ball politics in a way.

I think Gamespot and GI may be the 2media outlets that don't NEED EA like the others do... and that's the reason you get the most honesty and fair reviews from them.

everybody rated 06 somewhat high because it was the first next gen football experience,

im not saying it is a good game, nor am i defending madden or biased game sites, but liking one of these franchises is a preferential thing, its not a huge conspiracy filled with bribes and whatnot, its just someones preference. Most people here prefer the 2k series opposed to madden, and that is there opinion, and that is what gamesites do, they give their professional opinion, you can take it with a grain of salt if you want to, but you cannot accuse a company of bribing websites in order to get them favorable reviews just because you dont agree with their opinion! this whole conspiracy theory is just ridculous and some of the users here just cannot accept that some people like madden, and some people prefer madden, you can say whatever you want about its lack of features gameplay, graphics, whatever, thats your opinion, and if you can be entitled to say that 2k is better, than other people can be entitled to say that madden is better. I've been reading/surfing their site for a long time, although of late they have been giving less than optimistic previews for the game, for the most part they have given Madden their licks for not being up to par. People are hung up on the numbers that a game receives instead of reading a whole review. Now if you are gonna use the analogy with Halo and GOW you may be mistaken.

Halo although full of cheesers and glitchers (same with Gears) at least Halo had lots of innovating things about it. Gears is a good game if you are host and hope that your gun is faster than someone else's. Back on topic. I doubt they are in bed with EA, their editor even discussed it a while back. Just because for this one particular game they are not in love with it people think that they hate 2k when in reality they have given 2k games massive props.

I'm sure there are site that do this but i doubt 1up is one of them. Now IGN that's another story hahahaha.

I don't have a problem with anyone being a fan of a certain game franchise. But Madden 06 was flat out AWFUL! If there was a 2K6 game on 360 that bad... it would have gotten CRUSHED! EA always gets a pass it seems. I just want honest reviews. If a 2K Sports game sucks... I want to know it... and it should be known... as well as if an EA game sucks.

Here's an example. The Tomb Raider games when they first started out were well received and pretty cool games. Then a few of the sequels were absolute disasters and a joke really... and the reviews for those games were very negative and crushed these games. Madden 06 was a glitch filled,buggy, rushed out piece of GARBAGE that should have never been released in the same vain as the TR games... yet the Madden 06 game on 360 got passable reviews and really escaped unscathed. Which is total BS... because the job of reviewers is to tell the TRUTH on a game... not protect a company like EA... because they are the Big Boys in the Industry who keep gaming sites employed.
