I'm probably going to try multiple teams.

First i'm going to make a basically all offensive team, then an all defensive team, then some kind of balanced team... see which works best

Since we're on this topic, does ANYONE have a large list of who's gold, silver and bronze?

I'll probably have different team to cover whatever I'm in the mood for, but my main team will probably be built around Jerry Rice and Reggie White.

Strong RB in the backfield(not sure who exactly yet....between Marcus Allen, OJ, and Payton) and another anchor on D as my gold(Reggie White and Mike Singletary are my choices).

Will probaly use all my silver on O. A legit WR(Reed, Pearson, and Clark are some names), QB(good accuracy and a leader), and an anchor on the O-Line.

4 of my bronze will be on D and the last two on O. Looking at Harvey Martin, Eugene Robinson, Fred Marion, and Pepper Johnson. Cliff Branch and probaly another OL will fill out my offense.

Ill go with 2 silvers Randall Cunningham for my QB, Roger Craig at HB, Butkus and Lott as Golds on D. 1 silver WR. 2 bronze OLine and Dline, Bronze TE and Bronze CB.

As of right now i have two routes that i wanna take, but may change once i get a good feel for the game, but as of this moment imma try and duplicate the formula of either the 85' bears or the Run and Shoot Oilers, but sice i love the running game of 2k5 and the engine is based off that but more polished, i cant resist the tought of OJ Simpson behind a killer Blocking Offensive line with the stack of Defensive players(Mostly Bronze players)....

I must admit, I'm feeling very run-happy these days.

Run Team:

Gold: Barry Sanders, Willie Brown
Silver: Ben Coates, Irving Fryar, Rayfield Wright, Anthony Munoz
Bronze: Steve Grogan, Brian Bosworth, William Perry, Fred Marion, Randy Cross, Merril Hodge

Even though that team is designed to be a rushing offense, Grogan can still get it done getting it to Coates and Fryar.

Gold- Reggie White DE
Chuck Bednarik (not sure if Gold) OLB

Silver- Randall Cunningham QB
Keith Jackson TE
Jerome Brown DT

Bronze- Clyde Simmons (probably bronze) DE
Mike Golic DT
(Whatever is left for WR/RB/OL)

I'll probably go with a Running line, since the Real Randall never had much of a passing line, but could get out of trouble with his feet if necessary.

Defense will be awesome though! Can't Wait. The 92 Eagles were my favorite. Only missing Eric Allen and Seth Joyner....But oh....that D-Line!

I might even throw the Steelers some love and draft Greg Lloyd LB. He was a beast.

We Got ALOT of LOVE in this thread for Night Train Lane, I thought I'd post his Bio for those who dont know who he was...

Richard (****) "Night Train" Lane (April 16, 1928 – January 29, 2002) was a football player, best known as a defensive back for the Detroit Lions.

He was born in Austin, Texas, and raised by Ella Lane, a woman who found him as an infant in a dumpster. After graduating high school, he spent just one year in junior college before dropping out and spending the next four years serving in the United States Army.

In his rookie season he set an NFL single season record for interceptions with 14, which stands to this day. He was traded to the Chicago Cardinals in 1954 and to the Detroit Lions in 1960, where he played through the end of his career in 1965. From 1954 to 1963, Lane made the All-pro first or second team each season and was selected to 7 pro bowls. He recorded 3 interceptions in all but 4 of his 14 NFL seasons.

He was particularly noted as a hard hitter, who liked to tackle by the head and neck (a technique outlawed today). This tackle was sometimes called a "Night Train Necktie.

Lane was enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1974. In 1969 he was named the best cornerback of the first fifty years of pro football. In his 15 NFL seasons, Lane recorded 68 interceptions, 1,207 interception return yards, 5 touchdowns, 11 fumble recoveries, 57 fumble return yards, 1 touchdown, 8 receptions, 253 receiving yards, 1 touchdown catch, and 4 punt returns for 14 yards.

In 1999, he was ranked number 19 on The Sporting News' list of the 100 Greatest Football Players, making him the highest-ranked defensive back, the highest-ranked player for the Cardinal franchise, and the second-ranked Lion behind Barry Sanders.

I don’t know much about Anthony Munoz so I looked him up - He's quite the Specimen at 6'6 280 pounds, sounds like he'd be dominating toward your opposition and I got to love the fact that he's hispanic (not a whole lots of really good hispanic NFL players) - Just hope hes worth the Gold Selection.

Love Barry, Night Train (from my post above) Bart Starr (coolest name too!), Nigirean Nightmare, The Refrigerator, The Rocket (played with my cowboys - gotta love his speed).

LoL - not really sure about Brian Bosworth, But Hes only a Bronze choice so if you gotta have the Boz that’s cool I just wonder if theres better talent for that spot.

Cant go wrong wit Tony Boselli All-Decade 1990's Team Selection!

I'd say its a pretty great team - Lacking that bright star that is "Joey Vargas at QB" but good none the less...

I wonder if we got 2 teams of counter opposites who would come out on top?

An explanation...

For every legend of an offensive nature on team 1, team 2 has their nemesis on the opposite side of the field. So if you had Jerry Rice, I had Rod Woodson etc etc.

I wonder if the game is perfectly balanced or if it leans towards offensive players more?

I thought about as I see a lot of players going Defence heavy to counter other guys with an all out gold offence. It should be fascinating when everyone brings their teams online.

Madden (with NFL License) - Online play pre-rating 6/10 - While its fun to play with the NFL, it does get quite boring to play the same guys over and over - most often the "top NFL teams" over and over.....played by bandwagoners (ppl that just use the team cuz they win, and have no attatchment to the team whatsoever).

All-Pro-Football - Online play pre-rating 8/10 (w/o community site) 9/10 (with community site) - Imagine meeting and playing a new team each time - finding friends that love the game every bit as much as you do. These people will have done more research practically forced to in order to make their fantasy team..Smarter People that care about their picks.. With online support and web-based community sites that would enable chat, messaging, trades, and play times this game could really be something special online making for extreme replayability - you just have to be willing to play online..
I am concerned about cheesers however...

Since you have a total of 11 stars to use, her is my plan.
Defense
Gold Stars: Derrick Thomas OLB, Rod Woodson CB
Silver Stars: Lester Hayes CB, Jerome Brown DT, Lee Roy Selmon DE
Bronze Star: Lamar Lathon OLB

Offense: Will have 5 Bronze Star Players
Lynn Dickey QB
Mike Rozier HB
Rocket Ismail WR
Russ Grimm G
Toni Boselli T
Of course you put Grimm and Boselli on the Left side to create strength in the running and passing game. It also creates a diversion for the Defense. Keeps them off balance. I believe having 5 Bronze players on will more than justify you as an offensive threat. Now you have stars spread out all across the field wich creates balance in my opinion.

Defense and running. I may take Cunningham so he can scramble when the OL breaks down in pass protection. I want to be able to run the ball and stop the run. Of course, the game itself will dictate this a bit, ie if running and passing are balanced. Hopefully this will be a good sim game where evenly-matched teams can occasionally have 10-7 games or other realistic scores.

I'm really surprised that many people aren't using one of their Gold's for a QB. Depending on how good I am at passing/running the ball, I'll either go with a Marino/Rice combo or some good running back and someone else. I might use all my silvers for defense guys, and then mix and match my bronze with offense and defense. I just see the gold QB - receiver combo as dynamite, even though if someone has a gold corner, it may shut me down. I'm still up in the air though. I'll need to experiment and see what works.

Well if we can create up to 8 players being a huge Steelers fan i'm creating Jerome Bettis, Terry BRadshaw, Joe Greene and Carnell lake, i have to get a kicker and i'm taking Jerry rice, Rod Woodson, and Jack Lambert, I havn't decided on my last 3 yet. Those are my first 8. For my last 3 Probably an offensive lineman another Linebacker and i'm also creating Lynn Swann to have on the other side of Rice.

Well, that is where you fail.

You can't have all gold legends buddy.

Rice, Woodson, Lambert?

Then Bradshaw and Swann?

Dude, lol

Just in case you didn't notice I'm kind of a huge TOSU fan......... I mean all but one of my bronze and silver guys did go to OSU. As an OSU fan I’m definitely wondering why Eddie George, Paul Warfield, Bill Willis and Randy Gradishar are not in the game. The last three being hall of fame players. I know Jim Parker went to Ohio State but I just couldn't give up a gold star for him......
