for people to buy this game and hope that it plays great and sells really good. When the time the license becomes up for bid again, from what I have been reading EA and the NFL are very happy together and see a bright future.

We need the NFL to realize that they really need to have 2k and EA use the NFL License.

As we get closer and hopefully the sales will be great that we see a 2k9 and then at that point everyone needs to be as vocal to the NFL as possible so they realize what another 5 years would mean to football gaming. IMO

I could care less about who I play with.

I just want the game to be fun.

Yeah...because i think after two years (maybe just this year) they are gonna run out of legends to add and features to add with the legends. So if the NFL stays with EA, I'll be playin APF 2k8/9 till 2k comes out with a high school game ;)

This is true we really need for this game to do well, in hopes of 2K getting the NFL attention and letting 2K make a NFL game again. Hopefully this game sells well. We know 2K marketing isn't the greatest but they may need the help of all the 2K football fans to help market this game. Spread the word, emails, talking to other gamers, letting as many people possible know about how great APF is, if it is a great football game. If everyone who plays 2K football games does this, word will get around to others who don't know how great the game is and they will tell others. Eventually this will start to get the NFL's attention. Some people don't want 2K to get the license back, they rather just play with legends. In that case then 2K should make a legends game and a NFL game. Guys it sounds weird buy we the 2K fans will have to help market this game to others. I know I have already been letting every other gamer I know about the game, through emails, videos and word of mouth. This game really needs to sell well.

Although I've read things where the NFL says their happy with EA. I've also read things that said the NFL regrets making an exclusive deal and not letting everyone have a shot. They're not going to say they aren't happy with EA. That would only hurt them. And I don't think it's a personal thing against EA. They'd make more money if more companies made their game because more people would buy.

Personally, I think that 2k will get the NFL license back because I don't think the NFL is going to make it exclusive again. We just have to hope that APF 2K8 sells well so that we get APF 2k9.

i thought this was a bi yearly project?..so wouldn't it be apf 2k10?

The best is for 2k to keep this as a yearly installment.

They should always put the best game in the market, fully customizable (thats with a way to reproduce the nfl) and the success will come. Look at PES and what it has become. I remember playing that as a kid with fictional players and kept screaming their fake names like a lunatic. All my mates were doing the same.

2k should create a football dynasty on next-gen. Making Madden look bad is the way to go, especially with the power the internet brings to the gaming community.

The ugly part of this is that 2k doesnt have money to fight EA head-to-head, and maybe APF is a one-off game from VC. Hopefully not.

I hope by 2k9 they lower the price sell a ton and make EA investment in that license go in vain. So it will be unprofitable for the NFL and EA.

If Apf2k8 sells a million there shall be an APF2k9 without a shadow of a doubt...The engine is already built, the legends are alreaqdy signed...All they would need to do for APF will be add some sort of franchise mode, clean up the graphics and add more robust Online features...APF09 will be much cheaper to make than 08...

I think most people will start creating their own legends so if they run out of legends to add??? You can add your own. With a franchise mode etc, Im more than happy to play with a bunch of made up players..if the gameplays good..Im happy.
I think secretly there is alot of closet head coaches out there that much prefer to create their own little dynasty / team, without the need for the NFL license.

I think both 2k and EA will get the rights next time up....especially if they receive enough e-mails and EA takes a different approach...I think it is obvious that 2k is going to take a fair share of sales this year, so why would EA pay through the nose again when the results will be fairly close either way...McDonalds doesn't suffer too much from competition with superior products, do they?

The NFL and EA have created a PR nightmare with this...and I don't think EA wants to be perceived as the company that is ruining the sports gaming industry..

The best thing for 2k to do if they get the rights back is to make a game that has the NFL and a high level of customization. There was an element of that in NFL2k5, so why not?

2K Sports definitly needs to get the rights for the NFL license after their contract with EA expires. Obviously EA isn't going to stop making Madden, but 2K definitly needs to make a push to not have it become exclusive again...though...in the end it doesn't boil down to the fans, just money.

I just don't think this "Legends" idea can last more than two/three game releases. After a while you're playing with the same players who can't get any better or worse and relying completely on gameplay. I don't think 2K can that dramatically upgrade the gameplay to warrant people continuing to buy APF.

They need that license.

2K could save themselves alot of cash by making the game fully customizable by the time the license is up and let you use your team online. They'd have to figure out how this would play out but some how they could do it. I think they have enough in their arsenal to do well without the license.

just put a good product out there...i dont care about the nfl license..keep increasing the legends pool..there are tons of retired players out there..you dont need all hall of famers..and keep building up your game.

I can promise you that 2k would like to be able to do the NFL again...as long as they make a Football game, I'm ok with it...I just think that an NFL game insures longevity.

I would rather have the ability to use the so called "Legend" players that are no longer under the thumbs of the NFL and EA.

I can only hope that APF 2k8 is just the beginning of what can and should be a great alternative to the same ole thing day in and day out.

Lets speculate and just assume that there won't be a 2k9 released next year. This doesn't mean that we won't get new legends added to our list. Updates for 360 and PS3 users can and should keep this game fresh for some time to come.

And what about those former NFL greats who opted not to sign with APF? They might, just might, realize they might have made a mistake this time around and opt to sign on later down the road.

ok, I babbled.....time for more coffee.

Yeah, I think that's how things will go. If APF 2K8 sells 300,000 units, then MAYBE we get another game in 2009. If it sells 700,000+ units, then we get APF 2K9 in 2008.

No way 2K Sports goes TWO years between games if APF sells close to a million.

I also agree that 2K will need to add more than a few more legendary players to convince many to buy another APF game. A Franchise mode, spectator mode for online play, more team names and logos, and more customizable players (let me change all those generic players would make APF 2K9 a must buy for most.

Long term though, they need the NFL license to justify a new game EVERY year. The roster update is a HUGE part of the new football games every year -but means little to an APF game. Otherwise, 2K Sports won't need to make more than TWO APF games per console generation.
