Its pretty hard for me to adjust to playing manual defense on this game. Im a great run stuffer, but playing manual pass defense in this game is... weird. The ball is so floaty and the camera rises and changles angle throughout the balls flight. Is it just a practice thing, or is it pretty hard to play CB or S in this game? One thing that 2k REALLY needs to add is a defensive playmaker zone that defends corner routes (Usually used by OLBs or Nickle/Dime DBs), like the purple defensive playmaker zones in Madden. I would also like to see a playmaker on D to be able to have your safeties split wider towards the sidelines, or pinch the middle of the field. I know you can kinda do that, but all your DBs do it. I just want to be able to move just the safeties out or in.

Anyways, what is the key to playing manual pass defense on this game? I find it to be tough.. the player movement is pretty herky-jerky, but I guess it just takes practice like anything else. How do the good players on here approach Manual pass D?

Read and react to the play and make the play yourself. Use the S also. You can stuff the run and play coverage. Play SIM and welcome to real Football.

Have the Passing Zoom Out Camera option On.. This way you can see more of the field..

Hold the R trigger(Assuming you are on Xbox) to strafe.. be patient.. dont jump the route and leave someone open.. Bait the QB into throwing the ball you way..

Hmmm.. I was trying to find that forever. The manual says its the black button, but it never worked. Ill try the R trigger to strafe. Im so used to strafing that it was bugging the living hell out of me that I couldnt do it.

All of the above are true but to have the players run smoother and have less of the jerky behavior you should increase the player coverage slider

ya its the best thing ever put in a football game.. Also heres a Tip.. When stopping the Run.. Use the strafe.. the chances of Stopping the Runningback in 1 tackle will increase greatly when Holding R+Charging up to tackle..

I am sooo good at tricking the QB to thinking the man i am covering is open. you see i have to learn how to play coverage my team is dallas, and have you seen how crappy there secondary is in that game?

Manually defending a pass in 2k5 is so easy its a joke. Just practice and you will get the hang of it.

Use the black button to intercept passes.

A Alliance CLONE!! lol No offense Alliance :)!!!!

Dallas Secondary not bad.. I mean you have Roy Williams.. HE EASILY SHUTS DOWN ONE SIDE OF THE FIELD.. Darren Woodson is Pretty good.. Right there oyu got too good safties..

Newmen is crazy in this game.. His stats dont show it but he is.. His speed makes up for his 70 something cover.. He rarely drops a Int. and he can return a INT almost every time.. I think its Reeves? he is decent.. But go to subs and in nickel and dime put in Dixon(Back up safty) He is pretty good and makes a good Nickel Back :).. right there your secondary is upgraded!

Woah-ho-ho! Another Cowboys user. Manual play is a million times better on 2k5 than the competition. Bait and then attack. Against the cpu, this doesn't work as well.

is the even a valid question? there are pretty much two positions to play on D... LB or Safety.... playing CB is fun from time to time but you're only guarding one dude. DL... peeps consider that cheese so it's best to stay off of the DL in 2k5.

I always play MLB in Madden. But Ive been practicing on 2k5 all day now. Hey.. now that I know how to strafe that makes a WORRRRLD of difference (of course). The zoomed out cam on pass mode almost made a ton of difference. Its actually playable to me now.. pretty fun.
