If someone says, a game sucks, they would NOT buy it.

Did you actually read the review? I would say it brought up many things it considered good points about the game. As all reviews will do, it also mentioned a few minor points they thought needed polish.

Trashes? They had mostly positive things to say. Seemed like a fair preview to me.

"star receiver drops passes when he’s wide open. We saw this happen a few too many times for our liking, and we’re hopeful that the kinks still need to be ironed out."
"the speed of the game itself, as there were times when it felt like our ballcarrier was running in molasses."
"While the game looks pretty nice, we did notice some collision detection issues here and there, and we weren’t crazy about the way the ball left the hand of the quarterback (or was caught, for that matter)."
" In some ways, it’s tough to see where All-Pro Football 2K8 will fit into the football hierarchy."
Oh, and he goes out of the way to praise madden:
"Thanks to EA’s grip on the NFL license, people are going to run out and buy Madden NFL 08 on day one (especially since this year’s game looks amazing),"

I did. And they mention they didn't know if you could take your created team online. How long has everyone known this is the case? I think this article is unfair to 2k8 and goes out of the way to highlight the negatives.

So if a reviewer points out a few flaws that means it's trashed?
Gimme a break.
That was about as fair of a review as I've read in gaming publications.
"On the visual side, All-Pro Football 2K8 is a bit of a mixed bag. There are times when the game looks great, particularly when you zoom in to check out the little details. The animations are solid, too, especially when tackling. There was one sequence during which my quarterback was absolutely flattened by two defensive ends, and I winced on impact. That’s always a good sign for a football game! "
"While it might be tough for some people to choose, I know that I’ll be picking this one up as the perfect complement to EA’s title. After all, how can you not love a game that lets you throw passes to Jerry Rice with John Elway or break Mike Singletary’s ankles with Barry Sanders?"

I suppose if you are really looking for some "trashing" you can find it anywhere....
Personally, I am glad that they have pointed these things out.
2K has the balls to man up and fix these things in the future. EA would never do such a thing (as we have seen in the past 3 years)

To be honest, I'm not expecting much from EA in any sports game this year, especially Madden or NBA Live, as their track record the past few times out has been so bad a trained monkey could design better...just my opinion. As far as EA goes, the only thing they have any kind of skill with was the Fight Night series.

It seems like the whole gaming world is hypnotized by Madden. What a shame, haven't played a Madden game better than 2K5 yet and APF 2K8 will blow away Madden's this year and years to come. Bravo 2K for balling up and giving real football lovers a choice. There really is no choice now, APF all the way.

Yea I don't think that he trashed the game I just didn't like a few things said about Madden that showed a little fanboyism. Especially when he said that the game improved every year and that the new one looked "amazing".. I personally have not seen anything amazing from a Madden game in a while. But just seeing the route running by Jerry Rice definitely amazed me easily.
I agree that the mainstream world is hypnotized by Madden football and it is all because they don't know any better.

This kills me. Some of you act like APF is your freaking child or something. I don't get the emotional overreactions to criticisms of games, systems, developers, etc. Who cares if someone disses APF, or for that matter 2K sports, or EA, or 360, or PS3? They're just THINGS. Some of you guys act like someone just made your mother eat a turd, just cause someone wasn't completely blown away by APF. Let's grow up a little.
And whoever said Madden didn't improve every year is out of their minds. Many times the improvements weren't good enough to justify another purchase, but there's no doubt that almost all sports games get better each year, even if just a little.

That's BS. Madden has had some AMAZING covers the past few years. Also, the athletes they've chosen for those covers have had some amazingly bad luck, but that's just an amazing concidence and not really related to the game of course.

Other than saying that madden has gotten better every year(Yeah Right)He did not really bash or dis,he just said his OPINION when playing the game,Drops, slow respone when running,i mean there have been other reviews that have put 2k in a better light,Get over it! It's one guys take on the game.although you might get a little ****ed when your star receiver drops passes when he’s wide open. We saw this happen a few too many times for our liking, and we’re hopeful that the kinks still need to be ironed out. Overally, the game feels a lot like NFL 2K5, which certainly isn’t a bad thing. Our only qualm is with the speed of the game itself, as there were times when it felt like our ballcarrier was running in molasses. Big deal.

How bout we just forget the previews and wait for the reviews. Reviews sell more games than previews. If the game is a very good game, previewers will not be able to hide behind their strange loyalties. Any problems we have with reviewers, well, we can't specifically argue because we haven't payed the game. Misreported info about taking created players online, etc, will only make those reviewers look bad. Hopefully their mistakes are recognized by the public and hopefully those same reviewers are forced to be more careful in the future.

How about forget the reviews, and just buy the game that you think works best for you. Maybe you will see some bad reviews by people that love franchise or cant get enough of the patriots. If people havent made a decision on which game they are buying with all the available information, they should decide soon, or get swayed by the media giant of EA.

Also, it does look amazing this year, compared to previous years. It seems like EA has woken up. He goes on to say that he will also buy APF 2k8 as that also looks fantastic.
Bloody hell. If a site doesn't say "APF 2k8 is perfect in every possible way. It is amazing. Madden sucks." are they trashing it?

Can the fan boys on both sides just take a step away from the table for a moment and take a deep breath….
*ah* isn't that better…
Everyone is welcome to there own opinion, whether you see it as good or bad, but as a recent poster stated, it's just a game. Something I play for enjoyment and a bit of competition. Looking at the review, I didn't really see a slant one way or another, he was just giving he take on the game no more or less and that was a good thing.
We have some that see ESPN 2K5 as the holy grail of video game football, and yes it was very good. Hell I even went out a few weeks ago and bought another Xbox and copy of 2k5 to enjoy with Flying Flins Editor, but yes it did have it flaws and glitches, I have no doubt that APF will be a good game, and I look forward to picking up my copy
We have others that believe the Madden series is good to go, and continues to improve with each year. Having not played CG madden in the past two years I can't comment on that experience, but having played Madden 06 and 07 for the 360 I can honestly say that for me, the improvements from 06 to 07 were substantial, and I look forward to picking up my copy of 08 as well.
Bottom line is gents and ladies we are all gamers, we all have passion for this hobby, we all in our own way love video game football. Seeing a product for it's positives and negatives is just that, looking at a product and seeing it's worth to the individual.
As I've stated before on these forums I hope APF and Madden both do well this year… competition is a good thing, but if I was new to video game football and was to visit this board or certain Madden boards to get a feel of the community I would be playing with or to get a feel for the game I would be disappointed in the fanatics on both sides of the equation.
Let's be civil men and women having a good spirited debate about the games we enjoy. Remember just because someone doesn't have the same views as you, is not a personal attack at you. You do nothing but make yourself and the point your trying to make foolish and moot once you start to take unwanted and unneeded potshots at what you perceive to be your enemy.
Have a bit of class when bring your points to the table, you will be more respected for it even if your wrong, and you won't drag the product that your trying to support down with you.
Ladies and gents, have a great day.

You didn't say all of that with enough of a British accent...leave the manners at the table...This is War!!!
Seriously though, this review did go out of the way to tell people to get Madden...how is that not partisan?

OMG HE DIDNT LIEK EVERY SINGLE THING IN MY GAME!!!! MADDEN LOVER!!!
Every game has it's problems, and those really arent big gripes, considering i run into some of those problems in madden. Also, i would take everything that he said with a grain of salt, since he said that he hoped that he would be able to take his team online. This has been pretty common knowledge for a while, so i wouldnt worry too much about it.

iTs a review its not supposed to be all positive. If I read a review i expect positives negatives and overall feeling. He said he was picking it up on release. That trashing? Imagine if no reviewer ever said anything neegative about any game
its a preview....*******e alert

I really dont see him trashing it. He said he was going to go pick it up. lol
If someone says, a game sucks, they would NOT buy it.
He intentionally said that in the preview to throw you off...*******e alert #2

He DID say good things, but I think some of his gripes were a slight bit dodgy, and his 'everybody is gonna pick up Madden' was a little over the top.

Please.
I agree with you bro....How are you going to give props to the games competitor in the summary?...These people on here are xbox fan.boys...Its like telling your girlfriend "thanks to my ex's beautiful legs she is going to get a lot of dates even if I dump her"....People on here are very st.upid...If anybody was on the fence about EA football and APF this preview would have definately sealed the deal...I have lost a lot of respect for some people here...Goes to show the human hypocracy...if it had been pastapadre or 1UP everybody would have been tripping, because its from teamxbox is fine...lol...cmon
Tempus, give up bro...these I.MBECILES dont get it. I will like to see them bring up the awesomeness of APF in a madden preview/review...

He CLEARLY wasn't bashing the game. When I looked at this thread, and saw the OP saying that they bashed it, I was expecting to see they saying nothing but negatives about it. Then I read it, and saw a few instances where they mentioned some things that needed to be ironed out, and that was normal, so I'm wondering, where do they bash them at. Then the end of the article comes, and I didn't see any bashing. People need to stop bein such fanboys, and stop cryin anytime somebody say something that is noticably wrong. He had far more positives than negatives, and there weren't many negatives in the article either.

Yea maybe saying everybody will pick up madden was a little off, but not completely out of the ball park. Judging it was the highest selling game last year i think (to be fair it WAS the only football game). But most people in America are creatures of habbit, and since so many purchased that pile of garbage last year, you will still see a lot of people buy madden.

OK, OK...let us just say then that he was NEEDLING the game with rather DODGY logic....and he DID prop up Madden....I would have said that this game will give PAUSE to Madden fans on what to buy...he just said everyone will buy it.

Temmpus...
2k8 is going to receive negative feedback from people.
Wait until the game is in the hands of the 2kforum. You'll see.
But I do understand where you are coming from.
However, others may think you are taking it too seriously because they have nothing to go by. Meaning.... Madden08 preview where there should be just as many negative things to point out, but they fail to do so.
Then you have your case for sure and less negative feedback from others.

I posted a similar comment earlier today and all the Monkeys starting phlaling their arms and acting all erratic. Look at the lest two "next gen" reviews for Madden, no one says anything about the boring commentary, the weak defense AI, the lack of real excitement in the game. Oh it's the greatest thing since sliced bread.
Screw that, I buy more game in a year then most of these idiots buy in the life of a system and I am tired of getting jerked by Madden, I'm getting 2 copies of All Pro - cause I can.

Dude, you the irony in all this?...Madden fans are the one's who suffer in the end because the 9 plus ratings only hurt the advancement of their game...Let them get those pretty reviews...We will be having the time of our lives playing a real sim with real commentary and real legends...LOL...I think 2k will sell enough to guarantee an APF2k9 so am chill for now...
