Trent Johnson found a job that was too good to pass up after his old boss left Stanford for the NBA.
Johnson, a former Cardinal assistant coming off a breakthrough season at Nevada, was hired to replace Mike Montgomery on Tuesday.
``Wow! Obviously I'm overwhelmed,'' Johnson said. ``The only thing I'm going to guarantee everybody is that the wheels are going to stay on.''
Athletic director Ted Leland contacted Johnson on Friday as soon as Montgomery's hiring with Golden State became official. The 47-year-old Johnson met with Stanford officials for about six hours on campus Sunday.
