Question about the abilities

I've noticed on the sites that list the players and their "special abilities," (http://www.sportsgamer.com/all_pro_football_players?) some of the bronze players have fewer abilities than other bronze players, and same with silver and gold. My question is, why would I pick a bronze player with 2 abilities over a bronze player with 4 abilities?

I've already pre-ordered the game, and I'm just wondering why I would pick, say, an OT with Brick Wall over an OT with Brick Wall, Quick Feet, Bulldozer, and Strength Bonus, if they're the same rating (bronze, silver, gold).

I know I'm not like a forum reg or anything, I don't even think I've ever posted on here, I'm just curious as to whether or not anyone knows the answer to this question, because I have yet to find it anywhere else.

Wow. Not only does no one know the answer, but no one's even concerned. Why am I the only one that wants to know so bad? I think it's VERY important, say if if you have less abilities, you're better at other things. No one told us that, but that would be my only guess that makes sense.

Maybe because you like that legend? Old favorite player maybe? What if that player didn't have any special trait other than what he has in the game. These are all real people so I don't think theyd just give anyone random abilities.

There are literally players of the same tier, who have the same abilities, along with additional ones. What's the point of that? They're just better versions of the same player.

It's because even with those abilities, there are still base differences amongst them (IE, speed, strength, etc).

The abilities aren't the "end all" defining part of the players. You might have a bronze guy with 5 abilities. However the silver guy with 3 could easily be faster/stronger, etc then him

Didn't I just say if you like the player better? Its not that serious, if you want to pick the best availible then go ahead but if you want to pick the other guy then thats what you can do. This game is about making your team how you want it, thats it. :rolleyes:

I dunno why you're doing the whole eyeroll thing, I thought when it comes down to it, you want to WIN THE GAME. why would you hamper yourself by picking a lesser player when there are better available?

who would pick Richmond Webb over Bob St. Clair? he's a ****ing offensive lineman, who cares?

I think after considering this for a little while is that the ratings are their they just arent displayed. example they will still have a number for speed route running and ect but you wont see it. I think the reason for this is so just the same players aren't picked because they are rated higher and also some things like leader and clutch would be hard to put in a number form.

I could be wrong but the more I think about it the more it makes sence. Without this every player would be the same with just 1 or 2 differencess and 2K is smarter then that....... I hope.

One more thing this is a little more realistic in real life you dont have ratings but it would be good if we had like 40 times and bench rep #'s and stuff.

That's what I think, but I'd like to know exactly how to discern what these players are better at, you know, specifically? Looks like I'll have to do some experimenting to figure it out, unless 2k tells us.
