All in all it comes down to ones opinions on what the perceive as good graphics....but after reading a few early reviews and some making comments about APF weak in the graphics dept and putting MADDEN above it...
it made me think of a OLD pic from 2k5 that I kept because anytime someone would say that 2k5s graphics werent as good as Maddens I would show them this.....
http://a631.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images01/128/l_061b52c47963526d1506d3c3b9b9bd8e.jpg
Madden is on the right....ESPN2k5 on the left....real deal in the MIDDLE!! EA devs didnt even take the time to make the CORRECT FONTS!!!!!!!!
I know I havent played APF yet...but I find it HARD to believe that MADDEN 08 has them beat in the looks and accurate representation of what a football player loos like compared to there real life counterpart!!

Some will still defend Madden even after seeing this comparison...I dont see how you can defend the madden pic....2k5 was almost SPOT ON accurate!!!

So when are you going to post up the two franchise modes up against each other? :P Oh yeah can't do that. See im having a problem with fanboy rooting and cheering. With 2k8 you are comapring apples to oranges. Since there are no Bengals in the game...you cant compare. Okay so the color of 2k5 is better again you can see how less smooth it is so what maybe someone had a bad coloring day.
Let me also make a point. I am no EA Fanboy nor am I a 2K fanboy I am equally a fan of both companies. So as an unbiased person let me turn your graphics discussion into a more well rounded discussion. Imagine this as a 2k fanboy...You got this game with a good franchise mode graphically decent..playing online isnt too bad either..Then EA comes out with a game that is graphically better...you can only play a season and some online (Are online leagues even a part of this? If not then there goes one more feature 2K had over EA) All of you 2K fanboys would say this, "HAHAHAHA EA is so stupid they had how many years to put in a franchiose mode to make single player more replayable? Yeah so their graphics are a bit better and you can play online and the game play is a bit tighter, We can do so much more with our franchise, our online, and we will take our decent graphics and so so gameplay cause this game has so much more to offer." This si what every 2K fanboy would say about Madden if EA were to produce the very same thing. So while you laugh at graphics and what you fan boys consider not so smooth gameplay, and a boring game. Remember EA Fanboys are laughing at you because you paid 60 bucks for half a game.
Instead of bashing EA graphics how about using your Fanboy powers to bash 2K and say, "Hey 3 years and you couldnt make a complete game? Thanks for the graphics and some season play and some fun legends. Also thanks for charging us 60 bucks, but umm now that the jokes over where is the rest of the game?"
You see thats where there is a huge difference between Madden fanboys and 2K ones. 2K fan boys are just happy the good looking girl is going to prom with them. They can care less if she puts out, if she is worht dating for more than say that dance. Madden fanboys say, "HEY! We may be taking the fat ugly chic to the prom but you know what Im gettin some tonight, and shes a keeper for a few months because she has some replayability with something other than cheesers online!".
You should hold 2K more accountable for sticking you with the hot nerdy wallflower. We won;t though we will praise them for good graphics and say like a good losing super bowl fan. There is always next year.

Well, it's not all about graphics. 2Kers will take the better looking girl who "plays" better, **** her for a while, then go "online" and hook up with all her friends.
Madden gamers have a worse looking girl who is less experienced in the sack for a longer time (if you can say that, because frankly I couldn't really get past 1 quarter in madden 07 on the 360 without shouting and turning off the game, but to each his own). Oh, and she has a bunch of ugly, sloppy, nasty "online" girlfriends who will let you get halfway finished with their skanky *** before they run away.

If you are refering to me thats a no. As I said Im not a fan boy of either. Fan Boys are the reason games don't get better. Because Fan Boys tend to be happy with just what they are given as long as it is of that title and company. I'm frustrated with reading multiple topics of graphical comparisons to Madden when more than one site so far has complained about 2K8 graphics. And not one person (granted I havent looked over ALL the threads from recently today yet) complain about getting only half a game. As I said Fan Boys will be happy with what they are given and leave it at that, i.e. lets say 2K8's graphics are subpar as I have read on more than one site. Let's say Gamespot even says they are subpar for what they should be in a 2K game. It will be dismissed as "oh this reviewer is a moron and has no clue what hes talking about and they will still be happy.
I just wanna see some complaints about there being only half a game here. Its frustrating to know that they had 3 years and have been working on a title since that time and still couldnt add all the normal bells and whistles.

Let this prove my above point please. I would like to enter in exhibit A, your Honor. You would think the one who were to be more experienced in the sack would be able to perform all her "duties". Instead she only likes it missionary along with her friends. Okay enough Analogies. The fact that you are able to settle for what you think are going to be better graphics at this point and some online play which yes will have those cheesers is sad. not only for 2K fans but for the genre as a whole. I was hoping that 2K8 would push Madden to be better not to laugh.
I have been hyping this game ALL WEEK to everyone sayin this is the one football game to get. Now, I have to turn around and say. "Sure its the one football game you need to get if you just wanna play online and play a single season."

I'm just messin around man. Really excited about tomorrow, you know what I mean?
Most of us know what you're saying, but 2k has been put in the corner with a dunce cap.
I personally blame EA & NFL for taking away my favorite game of all time. I'm sure this game would have bells & whistles if it still had the NFL logo. (and then some)
I can't fault 2k for making some tough business decisions based on that, but they don't know how well it will sell to the casual gamer. Some of the hardcore gamers that love 2k will miss some of these features, but the casual gamer never knew they existed.

They did everything they felt they should given the circumstances, and that meant not including franchise for a number of reasons. Don't like it? Don't buy it. But you shouldn't ask for complaints. You're literally asking people to give up hope on this game. If we want to spend 60 bucks on a "half-game", then we will. If you'd rather buy Madden I ain't stopping you.
...Besides, when you really think it over you could consider Madden half a game. No presentation, half assed franchise and add-a-modes (superstar, etc.), and basically similar gameplay to years past.

I understand what you mean. As well as I hope you understand where im coming from. I want THREE GREAT footballs games out every summer for me to play. Yes I would like to have seen 2K and EA share the players license. If 2K had won the rights to it though no one would compllain about competition not allowing 2K to improve. Which is all I want from 2K to do to all football games.
I don;t think though there is any correlation between not having NFLPA and being able to implement a Franchise mode. You already have one season playable how hard would it have been to make the players, yes even the legends age and have drafts, FA's, the works for at least 10 seasons? Its not like they have never made a football game. It feels liek 2K made this more of an experiment to see how many people would buy a game then trying to put out a totally kick *** game that would make Madden have to improve next year and actually have some fear.

Out of curiousity, do you have post like this on Madden boards complaining about all the "fan boys" over there and their game? I dont go to that bored and not checking your post history so I really dont know, but from much of what you say it seems that maybe it should be directed to EA and Madden fans a little more? I mean yes 2k is slacking on features in All Pro 2k8 but overall in their games "NBA included" they tried to make good changes to make the gameplay better and the graphics have over all definately been better than EA, not to mention the presentation. Has EA made real big changes to their games over all? From what I've seen and heard they haven't. Not saying that their games are all bad but they do seem to have a " if its not broke dont fix it" mentality. Maybe I tool your post wrong but I've seen a few like it seeminly bashing 2k fans and acting like EA fans dont do those things..im not calling you a fan boy and really could care less what a person likes and chooses to buy as its their choice

It's the one where they're introducing the players, now if it someone of no fame i'll give you a pass on the face but who i'm talking about is Brett Favre (who is a legendary player known by anyone who watches football and many who don't)... You would think with that fame and madden swinging from his nuts every chance he gets they would at least get his face right  check this out....

Dont think you have to be hardcore to miss franchise....pretty big missing piece. I think its the hardcore folks that wont miss some of the features because of online play. The reviews are worthless...nobody knows how it will play online. Glad they made a game but it should be cheaper then 60 dollars!
I understand why there isn't a franchise in this game. The thing you have to realize is that its a game based off legends playing in their prime. When you go into a franchise mode you would only have eleven legends on your team. Think about it by year 3, a lot of these guys would be retiring.
Since we haven't gotten a word that a roster update would be made for this game, there would be no way to generate additional legends. Just look at the other thread about legends missing from the game. I'm upset that there's no Dome Patrol LBs in the game but even if I created them, They probably would still retire sooner than later leaving nothing but generic players with abilities that the computer created.
I think when they built the AI for the game it was only designed to round out your team not to create a full team with enough players with the proper abilities. I think there will be enough sales to make a 2k9 and these problems will be settled. More legends, more CAPs and AI this will round out teams for a season mode.

well, for one there's the whole issue of ageless rookies that couldn't possibly be incorporated into franchise mode. Then there's the whole thing about no real teams. Basically when you base a game around legends from all different eras and ages, you don't have much to work with. As far as the graphics go, they don't have some kind of stellar engine like the Unreal engine or anything. They had their old 2k football engine and they did the most they could. I for one think the detail and models look great, but they may have some issues in standard definition. You have to keep in mind JUST BECAUSE 2K5 CAME OUT IN 2004 DOESN'T MEAN 2K'S BEEN WORKING ON THIS GAME FOR THREE YEARS. They had to decide they were going to make it, come up with an idea for an unlicensed football game, contact 250 or so legends and work out deals. That gives them only (rough guess) about a year-to-a year and a half to work on this. If anyone has has a while to perfect their franchise, it's EA. They've had the NFL license and this is the 3rd year Madden has been on next-gen consoles. Why isn't madden perfect yet?
