im having the same problem.. most my games have been under 50 yards passing.
i believe thats what they call realism though.. i prefer a challenge anyhow.

Rule #1 (from 2k5) - Allow your qb to drop back on his own. When he plants his feet he's ready to throw.

plant your feet before you throw

yeah...you got to get the Maddenisms out of your mind. Use the Max Passing --like was said above. Also, use hot routes and get away from the lockdown CB's.

What you have to do is a QB charge while dropping back. You do this by holding A. Once the icon under the player flashes its MUCH easier to get an accurate pass. Higher tier QBs charge faster i think.

Exactly, Madden is drop back throw an 80 yard bomb, sound goes silent ,catch no Defense. GARBAGE!

The passing is much more realistic then Madden ever was.

I am not having trouble passing at all, had 400 yards my 1st game....I know shocking lol, it was on Pro difficulty though. Im having problems on defense and the run game a bit. Thing I love is, its so much fun to experiment with your team....and my away jerseys are SICK

huh what?
Seriously...I have to go buy a console to play the game (haven't bothered with 360 or PS3...or even Wii to this point), but "QB Charge"? They seriously have you charging the QB while you drop back, like any other position? Dang that's....akward?

You are a genious my friend....I forgot to say that. My friend was having trouble with Cunningham....so I told him, to charge up your QB, it adds velocity and accuracy. Also set your FEET!

it does have a little learning curve but I never charged the whole game and still had 200+ yards with Bernie Kosar. But here's one for you, don't take Herman Moore. He had five drops. His last incomplete was a game winner. All he had to do was dot the i but he goes out of bounds. Dan and Peter got on me too. After letting me know that was his fifth drop, they then say "You would think they would stop throwing to him" Alvin Harper...BEAST. I know people don't like him now for whatever reason but OJ is the truth too.

The Left Stick is very sensitive, when your using the QB. So, try to lay off it a little and like MLynch said make sure you plant your feet or your accuracy is going to be way off.

It isn't what a lot of people are making it out to be.
Charging can help especially if you have to slip a pass in tight spots. It will add zip.
But I've passed the ball without charging on "All Pro" level successfully.
It is not required, just good in some instances.
The only problem I've had so far has actually been kicking the ball and getting use to the LB/RB buttons.
That will happen once I finish up my 2k5 Franchise going for my 5th Super Bowl.
So far so good. I like what I'm seeing. There are some animation things I'd like to point out, but my videos are taking forever to upload to photobucket.
Probably because they are AVI files and need to be converted.
If so that will take time.

This game wont translate at first to EA gamers. I was playing the NCAA demo last night and subsequently I was just as frustrated as you were. Then I realized, SET MY FEET, and everything is ok now. My last game I was 5-6 for 135 and 2 TD's (I played a guy that let Earl Campbell dominate him). Also do not underestimate the charge up before the throw. That really helps with accuracy especially when you are under duress. lastly think about all the things you know about Madden and NCAA...and then forget them forever. The days of chuck em up throw em up are over...as are the days of the 20 yard dropback and completing a pass.

another thing i hear people mention is to not throw on the run cause it will not be accurate.

I found that I was underthrowing into the DB a lot so I just pushed up on the left stick a little bit after I pressed the X button and boom, Rice was making beautiful catches. But, I'll have to check out that maximum passing.

Dude couldn't agree more. Harper is a beast and so god for a bronze. OJ is the best RB in the game I think (at least out of the guys I've used, which is Payton, Sanders, and Sayers). He just shrugs off everyhting.

I got four TD's and 211 yards in my game... got to stand in the pocket, got to drop back the CORRECT number of yards... etc. (course, I had Steve Young, Jerry Rice, Brent Jones, John Taylor, Ricky Watters and Tom Rathman to throw to... maybe that has something to do with it?)
You can't play BS with this passing game. It is VERY realistic, at least from the one and a half games I played.

Can anyone tell if running plays set up DBs to bite on play-action passes? I have run blocking off. lineman and I run about %70+ of the time, but when I go to pass (or play-action) DBs and LBs don't bite or cheat up for run support......

I did a lot of short passing to set up the deep ball. A lot of passes to the flats eventually left Brent Jones open on a post... so I think it'll work if you do it... maybe... need to play more though...

yeah i was having the same issues. I guess my fingers muscle memory is set to Saddens garbage! You just gotta get used to feathering the stick so your qb can just drop back instead of runnning to the opposite side of the feild.....what's funny is that my wife has actually gotten better at it than i am right now. To all you ex madden heads there is a steep learning curve and to survive you must learn quickly before everybody learns the cheese and use it on you because you are a noob!
D.A.M.N YOU MADDEN!!!! You've made me such a horrible football player
Thank you 2k for reviving my real football deprived soul!!!
