Gameplay 9 - I would give it a 10, but I am sure there is someting I might be missing.
This really captured the feel of football on both sides of the ball. Its very
realistic. If you are looking for a sim experience...this is the game. The
game just seems perfectly balanced in EVERY possible way.
Graphics 8 - I dont know what everyone is talking about the graphics are great. I have
only one complaint. It seems as if every player is almost the same size.
Especially their arms. Elway and the Fridge have the same size arms. The
legs are also seemingly the same. But it is refreshing from the steroid look of
the other games. Outside of that uniforms, stadiums, crowd, coaches, ball,
grass are all perfect. Player faces arent as good as NBA but then again they
are still awsome and they are mostly wearing helmets anyway.
Animations 9 - You could not ask for better. They are perfect. There is no clipping and
players move EXACTLY the way the are suppose to (except Barry Sanders
for some reason i stink with him). There is variation. Gang tackles are
awsome.
Presentation - 8- Some parts are awsome, other parts are just ok. The crowd is awsome
they really make you feel your in the game. The players talking to each
other is reall cool. The announcers are a bit boring but they are bearable.
The half-time show is alright...the problem is it isnt as good as NFL2k5.
Features 7 - This is the weakest place...no franchise, not enough customization. but there
is a good season mode. The draft is cool makes you really have to think. You
cant just assemble the best players for a superteam. The customization of
uniforms is cool. Wish there was a larger selection of towns to play in. Would
have been nice if they brought some things back from NFL2K5 (Crib, custom
soundtracks etc.)
Overall 8.0 - APF biggest problem is that NFL2K5 was sooooo good. It was about 2 years ahead of its time. When you compare this to Maddens first next-gen game it is waaaaaaaaaaay better. But we compare it to the greates football game of all-time. So when you play this you expect soooo much more. In reality they were working with less because of the loss of the NFL and ESPN licence. That being said they did a great job. The gameplay is improved over NFL2K5 (not that there was much to do). They could have added more features. But in truth....if NFL2K5 never existed we wouldnt be looking for nearly as much from this game. The lack of the franchise mode hurts...but finding the right blend of players almost makes up for it...almost. The season is good. But the gameplay is where its at.
