it really suck tryna do it. I tried to get mine to connect for almost a month . What i did was call the manufacturer of the modem and they walked me through how to make it work. Make sure you have the port numbers ready and all the software downloaded before you call them

I've had the same issues. Opened the ports but I still get strict. I'm trying to chat with linksys to figure this out hopefully they can shed some light and I can share that info.

Someone said yesterday:
Set port forward - 3000something and 4000 something, set protocol or whatever to "UDP"
My advice: before calling manufacturers tech support, set port foward to UDP for range 3000 to 5000. That should cover all the numbers the dude said yesterday (some smart guy on forums).

Uh....
If your router/firewall supports UPnP (Universal Plug 'n Play), turn it on. Turn off your 360, reboot the router, turn on the 360, run the XBox Live Connectivity test. You should be all set. UPnP takes care of it all for you.

Go here (http://www.xbox.com/en-US/support/connecttolive/xbox360/homenetworking/equipment.htm) for any questions about the router you are using (check Compatible routers), as well as the ports you need to forward.

Do you need to open the ports on your router to play online? I have the ports you need if you want them.

Understand that most cheap routers for home use (99% of what's out there) use 1 to 1 NAT for their DMZ and don't use a true DMZ. NAT is what is causing the problem, so using DMZ won't fix it.
I'll say it again: enable UPnP on your router. I'm a network engineer, you can trust me. :)
If the router does not support UPnP, I'd suggest picking up either a Linksys WRT54G, or an old PC and use pfSense, and install the UPnP module. Either way, do just as I said, enable UPnP and you'll be all set. UPnP is a Microsoft pet project, so it will work. I finally had to at both my home and my office for Xbox Live to work - almost guaranteed it is your problem.

Wow, an actual answer to my DMZ problem, can you explain this a bit more? Why isn't DMZ actually opening up the flood gates like I figured it should?

Update? Did it enabling UPnP work for you?

Yes, use upnp, will make connecting most modern devices very easy. Only thing is, it's best to have the router keep any opened ports open until you delete them, this way you can check periodically in the router to make sure a worm/virus has not opened your router using upnp.
