View Full Version : 2nd opinion on gameplay etc...

Well after playing this game for 2 days my opinion has pretty much completely changed on many aspects of the game.

I was a little disappointed by the gameplay and I've come to realize that it was autostrafe ****ing me off on D (I now create custom games and turn auto-strafe off) and some minor other complaints.

Does anyone else notice the graphics getting better as they play more? Maybe it's the animations that are getting to me, but what I originally thought were ok graphics just keep getting better as I continue to play the game. The physics are amazing, the player movements are amazing... I love the fact that a player with the "cutback" ability really does make cuts so much faster than other players.... while playing with Barry Sanders, I've noticed that I can make pretty much sideline cuts like you see Reggie Bush doing in games now (in no way trying to compare the 2).

The other thing that I have come to love is the uniform editor... how awesome is it that I can completely customize my own uniform and actually bring it online and have other players see it as I see it... there's no way that was easy to program. I've made pretty bright colors and just had a lot of fun seeing my team play in whatever the hell I want them to wear. On top of that just changing up your team in so many ways.... there's just too much to do with this game right now that you really never get with NFL licensed games.... I never thought that simply making a uniform and bringing my squad online wearing that would be so much fun...

So from my first day of thinking the game was a bit of a let down to my 2nd day when I started getting to know how to play a little bit is a world of difference. This game is great and is only going to get better the more I play I already know it. Here's to 2k9 and beyond.

Perfect example of sticking with it and learning the game. The more you play, the better it gets.

If only other people would give it as much of a chance instead of "I played for an hour and it sucks."

Sometimes you've just got to tweak the game a bit to your liking, and get used to the way it works differently from previous games.

I love NBA 2K7, but if I don't change the camera to "2K Camera," I don't enjoy it as much. It's like tightening the laces on a new pair of shoes until they feel just right.

Glad you're enjoying the game,

BL

Nice post SK2K.
The learning curve for some is a little more than others especially if they didn't have 2k5.
Maddenites that try it out usually say it sux cause they are used to the CPU doing everything for them and also throwin 50 yd strikes while running backward off their backfoot.

Well, they can keep their lil boy game. 2k is for mu'uh f'ukas as who know about football.
Funny, your about the 4th person I read that had this reaction.
Pretty good to see.

Excellent man! I was a 2k5 guy, and obviously the last couple years been stuck with the 'other' game. My first game back in this I was rolling right, didn't set, and tried to throw across my body to the left side of the field. And this duck of a pass lobbed slowly and painfully through the air into the waiting arms of the opposing team's safety, and I said out loud in a room all by myself "YES!!". That's how it should be, in the 'other' game, that was a touchdown for me, in this one, bad news. And I love it!

Clearly, the graphics aren't 'getting better', but they're good enough because you're so immersed in the gameplay that you're not looking at the game, you're playing it.

I completely agree...its funny how the graphics did seemingly get better the 2nd time around. :)

Exactly. I am loving this game graphics as they are and they aren't bad by any means. I just can't get enough of the gameplay, last night I got stuffed three downs in a row and had to punt 3 and out. That never happened to me on NCAA and very rarely Madden unless it was due to a pass going through the receiver's hand a-la passes through feet on FIFA when you turn up the difficulty. EA's way of making it challenging: having passes go through intended receivers both in football and soccer. They were doing that crap back on PS-1 for soccer. I never had a Madden game before Xbox. I was a Gameday fan on PS-1 that game was great for its time the first to bring polygon players to the gridiron.

it's been the same way for me. the first night i played, i was like "eh, it's ok but not what i expected".
after playing the next day (especially trying online), it was totally different.

this game is quite good and i'm excited about getting more comfortable with online play and leagues.

Here is one more person that realized that also. We need to have this game back next year and I am sure it will look even better . Long live the king of football!!

that was me...... and i bet most people who dont want to change games (EA to 2k.. .ex,) don't give it enough time to learn it or don't try at all..... once i played 2k5 more than an hour, it made a little more since to me than madden, alot more actually... now i couldn't wait till 2k8, and i can't spend enough time playing the game.... serial killa2k is on the "money" too .. .. .

I've played a handfull of Maddens last few years. I mostly still play my xbox 2k5. I still think that 2k5 was a better game though. I switched to 3 oline (including blocking/catching TE) that made a big difference. I try to use a Silver QB and a good WR/TE. And Okoye at RB. I have 6 off and 5 def legends. 2k always kinda makes the D stronger anyway. So I can get away with only 5. Woodson is my CB also have Robinson at FS. Then 2 Silver LB's and one good pass rushing DE (Manley) with run cvg linemen. I have several other teams too. I'll agree the game's got betterwith more playing. I still think that the gameplay is a lil on the slow side and have had some unresponsive control moments. I'll get new batteries to make sure it's not that. Anyway I'm happier now though. I hope thay make a 2k9 and improve upon this years game.
