I would love to add guys like Too-Tall Jones, Reggie White, and Bob Lilly to my team, but I simply don't know how to use them effectively!
Its really aggrivating when I spend a gold pick on Reggie and then he just gets stonewalled all game long.
What techniques are you guys using to make these players do some damage? Are there certain buttons I'm not pressing? Should I be using the tilt feature (ps3)? WHATS THE DEAL?!

the Charge button is too slow to fill for the DL to make an impact while user controlled i'm finding.
2k5 charge meter was much more effective. not liking the response of the 2k8 charge up at all.

i just run stunts with those lineman and blitz extra guys so they can go 1v1 with a offensive player
still, sometimes my defense just cant get to the quarterback, which is especially annoying when they have all stock lineman

True, honestly it seems to have something to do with momentum that they help protect them.

So...does anyone have an answer? or are d-linemen just useless in this game?

If I feel like playing the D-Line, I tend to leave the legendary D-Line players to there own devices. I'll take one of the generics, and run criss cross off the line with the legend which either frees up my generic (double team) or lets the legend run free.

try just controlling the linebackers or safetys and let the AI control Reggie. Thats what I do with Clyde Simmons and he usually gets a sack every game.

You guys are giving all of the wrong answers.......................
If your familar with any of my posts you know I am a sack guy so here are my tips.
-Get to the outside of the blocker if your a DE and if its a legend DE then you whatever his pass rush move is.
-DONT PLAY WITH THE BLOCKER, meaning dont look for contact with him, as soon you touch the blocker, and I mean as soon as you touch him, pull out your move as fast as possible. So if its Reggie White then just pull the club button quickly and never give up on the sack.

Try moving them to the other side. Most Legendary Tackles are placed left tackle and most DE are set at Right DE so the two hit each other.
Move you're D-linemen around so they cover up a generic lineman or TE.
It make a HUGE difference.

According to the instruction manual nobdy wants to read the D-line controls are:
Left Trigger: Club
Right Trigger: Swim
Left Bumper: Rip
Right Bumper: Spin
A (tap) Bull Rush
In the older 2K games it says as soon as you're player is engaged with an offensive player hit your move button.
