Anyone have any problems controlling Max Passing like in 2K5....by this I mean, releasing the ball...taking over the WR, and manually catching with Y button. I've tried in game situations and on practice mode but have yet to complete a pass from beginning to end. The most I've been able to do is release the ball, let the CPU control the WR, and then press Y to manually catch.

Anyone else notice this as well?

Someone else was pointing out the max pass is screwed up in APF... that among other things you have to almost throw behind the receiver in order to hit the mark. I doubt many here will know one way or the other, because I'd bet very few people even use it.

Maximum Passing works even better in this game than it did in NFL2k5...not much better, because that already worked great....overall, the controls in AP2k8 are definitely tweaked up a notch...Great job!!!

Well I use the Max passing and it's a bit tricky to work with. You want to make sure that your QB isn't moving in the pocket so that the pass attempt is accurate (even with QB's with scrambling ability). Once your QB begin his throwing motion, you move the analog stick to your desired location. That's the easy part. Next is controlling your receiver to get to the target area and you have very little time to adjust your position for the ball. Put your hands up as the ball is coming in close, usually about 15 yards before it comes in to make the catch. This varies from the kind of pass you throw (bullet or lob pass).

I had my very first sideline catch last night as I was able to control the receiver and he caught the ball with keeping both feet inbounds. It was so cool to see! It takes practice. Keep practicing and you'll get it.

Agreed. Maximum Passing is outstanding in this game, and this is coming from a guy that passes with Dave Krieg. I might have to take it out for a test drive with Joe Montana sometime.

Personally, I think user picks are much harder than user catches. You can be right infront of the reciever and the ball still goes through your hands and strait into the reciever's. With max passing, I think it can give you the upperhand if you know how to use it. Being able to lead your reciever manually is so valuable...

I'm guessing that when you attempt a user-pick, they have to force you to muff some(most?) of you attempts. I usually get a couple per game, and miss several more.

That makes perfect sense, though. In an average football game, there is probably about one interception for every 12 or 13 completions.

Yeah, I'm not complaing about not actually getting the INT. Its when it doesn't even contest the ball when you are in perfect position. I do agree, though, that you shouldn't be able to get a pick every pass attempt

How do you use max passing? I can't find it in the options anywhere.

They really dropped the ball with regard to enabling maximum passing.

When you're on the team select screen, the one that shows a controller icon, click the left stick. A circle containing the words 'maximum passing' will be drawn atop the controller icon, and you'll have maximum passing for THAT game, and THAT game only.

*steps on soapbox*

I really shouldn't have to do that. I threw an interception last night because I forgot to turn it on. I was aiming for a guy that was fairly well covered, but had I been able to lead him, that ball wouldn't have been picked off. Give me the option to have it on all the time already!!! It was a stupid way to enable the option in 2K5, and it's a stupid way to enable the option now.

It's been like that since the original 2K. Stupid or not, at least it's there.

You really find it that big a problem ? And if your not intelligent enough to do something as simple as click a stick before a game should you really be calling someone else stupid ???

FYI- You can change it in game too.

It's got nothing to do with intelligence. I just forget once in a while. Intelligence and memory are two different things.
