If this is your first experience/ return to 2k football from EA Madden/NCAA give us your thoughts on the game. What do you like better than the opposing, and what was it that brought you to 2k in the first place, I for one would like to know how the New Comers feel about 2k football.

I would say limit the responses to those that own the game and not just played the Demo.

NBA2K7!!!!! That's what did it for me. When I saw how much more supperior this game was compared to EA's Live series, I asked myself "What else has 2k released that I don't know about?" I started reading the posts on this website, became even more curious, went out and bought a copy of ESPN Football 2k5, was amazed by the game that I had slept on for all those years, converted from EA to 2K, now I have APF, and when the NFL license agreement with EA expires in 09'...BOOM!!!!! Armageden for Maden football. Nuf-said.

Let's say that hypothetically, 2K DID end up with the license (as unlikely as that is). Madden would be screwed.

Would all the EA fanboys continue to play it or would a huge percentage of them jump ship simply because it didn't have the NFL teams and players anymore.....

Food for thought.

I'm a newcomer, was dissapointed with the past 2 madden/ncaa games I've had (03, 06) and very upset about the EA monopoly that stopped NFL 2K6 from being released other wise I definetely would have gotten it.

I had always been pleased with the NBA 2K series when it first came out. NBA 2K7 is probably the best B-ball game I ever played and I think that finally pushed me over the edge; I was very eager to see if 2K did football games the same way. Never got to play NFL2K5 so APF2K8 was definetely on my list of must have games.

Must say I'm pretty impressed with the game, graphics could be better, but that takes a back seat to the superior gameplay over EA's football games. Also wish there was a franchise mode, but still happy with my purchase overall. Also glad I finally have a CHOICE in football games.

I am the pefect gamer to answer your question. I have never played 2k football before and love sports games in general. Always played EA sports games. I guess I had brand loyality growing up with them. I am thirty years old, married with three kids and consider gaming a getaway/relaxing time late at nigth before bed time. Some people read, watch tv, etc. I like to game just an hour or two after the kids go to bed.

I originally was interested in all pro because I was sick of madden. Madden 07 on the xbox 360 was so bad for me. The announcer, game play, and AI all sucked. Plus the online servers were horrible. It was the only game I purchased and sold for a loss within the first two weeks of purchase. I looked for other football games. Ncaa is not my thing. Hated the game with lawerence taylor so I started researching all pro. Watched a couple of videos and decided to purchase and give it a try.

I am shocked on how good this game is and the more I play it the more I enjoy it. I got my buddies (also mid 30's married husbands) to buy this game and we all like it better than madden. My wife has told me she has received calls from other wives to complaining that I caused their husbands to be obessed about their gaming. I find that very funny and just goes to show you what a good game with do.

Instead of listing every detail of what I like about this over madden because there are so many, I will just say I feel like I am playing football. Every detail from route running, animations, kicking game etc are just the same small things that I love.

Madden will not be purchased this year from me or any of my buddies.

I am new to APF2k8. I played Madden 2003/2004 on the Xbox,
then Madden 2005/2006/2007 on the PC online. I have mastered
the game (CurrentGen) to the point where boredom set in. And
yes, I kind of soured on the Madden online experience too. Too much
cheesy game-play, and as I am casual adult gamer, I don't have
too much time to waste. Also, I am not a big fan of Madden NextGen
and would have probably just gotten the 2008 PC edition again.

See http://www.2ksports.com/forums/showthread.php?t=131946
my first post on the APF2k8 forum & some background info.

As I am based in Europe, I had to wait until last Friday to receive
my NTSC Xbox360 copies of APF2k8 & NCAA08.

I opened APF2k8 first. The learning curve for an older guy like me is
pretty brutal. The two things that I really dislike are the accelerated clock
and the little time you have on defense to pick your play.

But since I really like the online experience, I stuck it out and have
made some progress in terms of adjusting.

The game-play is really growing on me fast. I finally got my head wrapped around
the offensive game-play, the controller configuration, etc. Defense is next.

I finally ventured out two nights ago and got my first online game in - Beginner's
Lobby

Love the playbook editor; love the chess-match; love the "realness" of the game.

Maybe to sum it up in one short sentence: "SIX DAYS INTO THE WORLD OF APF2K8,
MY COPY OF NCAA08 STILL LIES PLASTIC-WRAPPED AND UNOPENED NEXT
TO MY XBOXE360 - WILL I EVER OPEN IT ?"

Great thread - I don't feel alone... :)
