Do you think generics have more depth than meets the eye or are they all created equal?
Do you think they just get one ability like: a pocket QB just has the pocket passer ability with generic tier skill ratings?

I'm not so sure. Call me crazy but I could swear these guys have personality (more than one ability)

I found a generic QB (yes, I rock the generic QB non-stop, and own balls) who has an excellent play action fake. The first time I saw him run the PA fake, I was like  because it looked so odd. But then I viewed the replay and watched the corners, safeties and LBs bite on it hard. And not just once, every time. This guy is golden.

Another thing I noticed was the left footed kicker. I passed on this guy previously because kicking with the lefty was tougher for me (this is back on release day). But I gave him a shot last night and he seems to have a small edge in kicking power. I was kicking to the 5 yard line with 0 wind whereas my other kicks in 0 wind conditions barely squeaked by the 10 yard line.

Rehberg, an ILB plays like a man posessed. He seems to have the run reader and run coverage attribute. He out performs any silver/gold ILB pick ive had when it comes to stopping the run.

William Lett anyone? Seriously. Come on. This guy rocks so hard. I've had him a few times and he just seems to be stronger than most other generic D-linemen.

Malbrough, SS or FS, hell, maybe even corner I can't remember. Interception king.

Well the gerenic players (or as some call them scrubs), are different depending on what you choose your abilities for the overall positions when you create a team. Change up you team pholisphy from linebackers run support to pass support and you'll see a definite difference.

Well that is completely obvious and I thought I made that clear in my original post. What I am saying is, it truly feels like my current generic QB (pocket passer) has the flay fake ability as well, because his play action fake looks so much different from all the other generic pocket passer QBs I have used and his PA fake as very very effective.

Some of my scrubs are absolute beasts. Slater, who is an OLB, pretty much keeps pace with Butkus for tackles

I definitely think every generic is different.

I also had an outside LB that through 4 offline games in a season has out-tackled Singletary.

I have seen people mention, that there is a generic kicker named Conway that can nail 50 yarders.

The Left-footed Kicker is a beast. I have him on one of my teams and I can kick 45 yearders with ease - Just a little draw to my stroke - I account for it and its gold. He can kickoff inside the 10.....Completely negates the legend kicker advantage of some CPU teams. I have a passrushing DT that is among the league leaders in sacks - Isaac "something-or-other"....A few DBs that are pretty good. In short - well thought out Generics to a specific style of play can lead to alot of advantage. Choosing all "Balanced" wont work - use the strengths of your play and design the generics to that play calling you prefer and you will make a very good team.

This game is more about the plan, strategy and execution than the pure "overall" talent rating of the players. Design & play to your strengths and keep to the game plan.

I think it's more than meets the eye. I had 1 scrub wr and he couldn't catch to save his life. Syrelnak or something like that. I replaced him with Abyrum and that dude catches everything. Same thing for TE and OLB. You gotta play offline with your team and then sub players in and out to see who does what.

I was all for generic players on the game to compliment the Legends but what I really wish the developers would have done is what you're talking about: giving them some character. I wish they could have had their own attributes & abilities and that they were consistent.
