Hi. Let me start off by saying that NBA 2k7 is the best basketball simulation to date and that I cannot wait for 2k8.
This post is more about the small details that have been missing from the games since the dreamcast days. At the end of the day, gameplay is what matters, and these details are only secondary.
Clearly, the technological advances that we have today make the current 2k games better looking than the games on the dreamcast, but the attention paid to each of the characters has decreased in my mind, and that is sad considering they are working with an XBOX 360.

1) Kevin Garnett: As well all probably know, KG always wears a rubberband on his left wrist.
This feature was in the dreamcast games, but nowhere to be seen since.

2) Reggie Miller: Reggie is seen with his trademark multicolor sweatband. Also, from playing the game, I know that he and players such as Glen Rice also had their trademark ankle braces. To make a more modern comparison, Chauncey Billups wears the black braces and they have never been in any of the newer games.

----Other details
The list really does go on and on. For example, Scottie Pippen had an armband that said "PIP" in the older games and T-Mac also had his "T-MAC" armband. Players like Larry Johnson had the back brace and Darius Miles and Quentin Richardson did the pound the head gesture...I know that the NBA now has rules that prevent the use of personalized gear and that 2k7 featured MANY of the signature shots and even had the gesture of THE KING biting his nails.
3) FROM NBA 2K5: Ben Wallace BIG BEN sound effect at the palace. Does anybody else remember this??? When Big Ben would score during a home game, the sound of a bell would play as it did in real live games. Sadily, this was missing in 2k6 (traded for 2k7).
4) Legends: In the old games, players would wear their actual uniforms and accessories. In the newer games, players are left wearing generic unis. This cannot be a licensing issue with Mitchell and Ness or anything as throwback jersey's are featured in the current games.

Ok. I know that these details are purely cosmetic, but I believe that these small details from the earlier games and the continuing evolution of the actual gameplay have allowed VC to take the crown from NBA Live. I like the direction the series is going, but would also like to see the attention to small details that the games had in their earlier days.
-FOR THE SHOE GUYS: The 2k8 video reveals that Jordan Brand is in the mix again (a must since Chris Paul is the coverboy. Can't wait to see players like Finley and Ray Allen in their PE's. GET RASHEED SOME AIR FORCE ONES AND NOT THOSE ALL BLUE ONES FROM 2K6 THAT HE HAS NEVER WORN.
