First of all, Michael Jordan has always had licensing issues with videogames.
Up until 1993, Micheal appeared in all regular basketball games such as EA's Lakers vs Celtics series and their NBA showdown game.
In 1992 and on, Midway/Acclaim debuted their NBA JAM Franchise and Michael Jordan was absent from the games.
For NBA Live 1996 and other games such as IN THE ZONE and KOBE COURTSIDE, Michael Jordan began to be replaced with the player "ROSTER GUARD 99" as he was charging a premium for his likeness to be used in a game (but was still part of the NBAPA).
2000:
Michael Jordan signed a 10 year deal with EA to be in the game as a legend.

2001: (I want to forget these Wizards years)
Michael Jordan returns to the NBA (and rejoins the NBAPA) and is surprisingly in non-EA games. The contract with EA is put on hold since MJ is an active NBA player.

2004:
Michael Jordan is retired (AGAIN) and resumes his deal with EA and appears as a legend in NBA street volume 2.

2007:
It is my understanding that MJ signed the 10 year deal with EA in 2000 and it was put aside and resumed in 2004. If my math and logic are correct, MJ is still under contract with EA.
I have never played EA games since Live on my SUPER NES, so can anyone confirm that MJ has been in recent NBA Lives as a Legend or the Latest NBA STREET (I know the shoes are)????
If he is under contract, I don't understand why EA has not been using him. Any info is appreciated.
Good to see Jordan Brand with 2k again.
