Which new attribute would you most like to see rated? I wouldn't mind seeing a description for a players vertical leap.

HEART....
A player like IVERSON would be a 99 or Turiaf/Varajeo would be 95...
While Vince (who admittedly says he hasn't played hard in the past) would be 70.

Clutch would be a great rating. You would have to give negative ratings to Nick Andersen if he was still in the nba.

How about A clutch factor? I think they already have something like that but they should put the stat for each individual player..
Like Steve nash clutch factor would be 93
Dirk-70
LBJ-90
Kobe-88

TOO MANY CHARGES/BLOCKS TO BEGIN WITH BUT:
I like to measure the ability of players to draw fouls to be measured. There would be no penalty for not having the ability, but rather a bonus.
Players who deserve this draw the foul bonus:
SAM CASSELL- ESPECIALLY ON THE PERIMETER. Draws at least 2 fouls a game while jump shooting 'cause of his deceptive head fakes.
KOBE!!!
WADE (2006 FINALS)
COREY MAGGETTE- IF YOU KNOW THE LEAGUE, YOU KNOW THIS GUY DRIVES ALL DAY AND ALWAYS DRAWS FOULS...slightly less since his injuries....

range. for the people that can hit the deep three like arenas and mcgrady. this would allow them to have more range than somebody like ray allen but still not be able to hit more from right behind the line.

how about a consistency rating??
and a clutch free throw rating.... i got this idea from watching lebron....:( although he is my favorite player :)
In ESPN BASKETBALL (2K4) they had this:
In the 4th quarter, the free throw meter would move extremely slow for the following players:
1. SHAQ...During thr first 3 quarters, the meter would be extremely fast, but way slower in the 4th....THE DIESEL DOES MAKE THEM WHEN THEY COUNT.
2. KOBE....METER WAS SO SLOW, IMPOSSIBLE TO MISS
3. DUNCAN...ALTHOUGH DUNCAN MISSES BIG FREE THROWS (2005 FINALS AGAINST PISTONS, 4 IN A ROW 4TH QRTR GAME 5), 2K GAVE HIM THIS BOOST
I imagine Lebron's should be harder to make in the 4th.
ALSO:
2K4 had the hidden clutch rating, which was seen only in the Fantasy Draft Mode.
If you played NBA 2K4/ESPN you know that Reggie Miller, Kobe, and Robert Horry did not miss in the 4th quarter.

OK. This is just crazy talk, but something I would really like to see added to the games in addition these new suggestions.
When Tony Parker scores at a home game, they should make a cut scene and flash to the crowd to see this:
http://img.sports.tom.com/img/assets/200503/050326102147Eva-Longoria.jpg
They wouldn't have to name her, just make a similar polygon model (haha) and show her after Parker scored. We would all know who it was without them announcing it.
OK...NO MORE CRAZY POSTS FROM ME FROM NOW ON.

1.Strength definitely have strength in 2k8. Its one of the most recognised athletic attributes in the NBA.I actually can't believe they don't have it in 2k7.
2.Leaping/jump ability.
3.Heart would be good too i would love to see a players heart rating. Yall know what i mean.
4.Flashy dunk rating sort of thing. Like it was mentioned before i dont like seeing Tim Duncan doing windmill dunks he'll never pull off a flashy windmill dunk like that in a real game.Just to distinguish the high flyers from the power dunkers. In fact i'd go so far as to say NBALive has this rating down pretty good.
5.Passing. I know there's a passing rating but theres just no distinguishable passing abilities between a 77 and a 97.The passing is the same for a player with a 77 passing rating than a player with a 97 passing rating.
6.There should be a superstar control like NBALive has. With the high flyers, the playmakers, the power players and so on.If only NBALive could fix up their gameplay they could seriously compete with 2k.

what's 'vertical leap', 'heart' ? sorry for the dumb question but i don't know what it is.
Antaean
July 30th, 2007, 04:09 PM
Vertical Leap is how high a person can jump, usually tested from a standing position.
Heart is something you can't really measure. I guess you can say its how hard you put effort into things you do. People accuse Vince Carter of having no heart for example (because of disappearing during the playoffs, weird/soft injuries).

Also, a Hustle rating wouldn't be bad. It determines if the player dives for the loose ball, goes for the offensive rebounds, sprints back on D. You know stuff like that.
And they really need to let you customize your own weight.

Ok even I had a laugh at the first dirk payout but I think we all get the point...
I would love to see a vision stat. I know there is offensive awareness but this is strange to measure. I'm talking about the ability to throw the improbable alley-oop, like Parker to Duncan in the Finals. Not all players can lob one from the three point line to a player on the other side of the hoop. I'm talking about making a pass to a cutter through traffic that has nothing to do with pass rating. It doesn't have to be a fancy pass, just one that not all players would be able to see.
I don't have high hopes for this because it would be hard to measure and wouldn't impact on the game that much, just might cut down on some unrealistic passes/alleys.
Stilesy
July 31st, 2007, 12:30 AM
Oh yeah, and the ability to draw charges. Varejao would rank high in this for example. If this was included we would hopefully have less of the random/stupid charges because a player with a low stat should be more likely to be called for a defensive foul.

Temper.
Maybe add this with players and/or coaches with bad temper. I can already imagine Rasheed Wallace getting T'd and ejected in a game. Hahahaha
And yea, poor Dirk, he might not have won the MVP had it not for Steve (Nash) getting sidelined for a couple of weeks

Yeah, I would love to see a "temper" rating. Maybe the user could initiate it by pressing some buttons or something. Obviously, there would be some risks, I mean you could get a Technical foul, or, on the bright side, the momentum could shift.

Well yeah, you can't really predict what the player is going to do. And about the Live thing, I don't want to stir up any flames or anything like that, but some people, myself included, love the 2k gameplay and want to see that incorporated into the game. It would be sick if all those things were in the game and would make the game even better.
