When is the rankings going to start counting in the qualifying round? I hope I get my 360 back with plenty of time to play.

Qualification will begin on August 24th and finish on September 6th. These games must be played in the regular ranked lobbies.
Please refer to the official rules:
"After you register for the Tournament, you must qualify to participate for the Tournament Playoffs. Qualifications will begin on Friday, August 24,2007, and will last until Thursday, September 6, 2007. The top 256 players will advance to our online Tournament Playoffs and be notified via e-mail.
Beginning Friday, August 24, 2007, the leader boards will be reset for the Qualifying Round. Entrants must participate in and complete at least 10 games during the Qualifying Round to qualify for the Playoffs. All games will be conducted according to the ranking system and the terms and conditions that govern the 2K Sports APF game. Sponsor, in its sole discretion, reserves the right to increase or decrease the number of Playoff spots that will be made available. "
The ten games is the absolute minimum needed to qualify. The actual number of games needed to be in the top 256 will most likely be much higher. To view your position during qualification, please use the official Game Stop All Pro Football 2k8 Leaderboard.

Well yeah I knew that, but in order to get into the top 256 online I'm sure you will need to play a whole lot more than 10 games haha

Considering some of these cats have all day to sit around playing 10-15 games per day, I'd say you're going to need a good 35-40 games to stand a chance.

Well their tournaments are done by power ranking, not their usual most wins = highest rank. Unless they're not doing this one like they normally do, I sure hope they continue to use power rankings (ELO) for tournies. I'm sure it's in the rules somewhere, I haven't read them yet though. But, I'm pretty sure it's ELO
So really some people might be able to get in with a little over 10 wins, by ELO you definitely won't need 35-40 games to qualify, if you're winning that is.

We will be using the standard ELO rankings for our qualification. Basically, with the ELO system, you will receive more "points" for beating higher ranked opponents.

That isn't exactly true. They ran an ELO tournament with College Hoop 2K7. Just to make that tournament it was very difficult. Simply because you had to play a good amount of games to make it. I think I played around 100 games for the month and was ranked around 220 for the tournament. Even though that tournament was kind of flawed as only the top 5 overall tournament player had a chance at actually winning. But because there are probably less people playing this game, odds are you will have to play about 2-3 games a day on average and win a fair percentage to make it.

Possibly, like I said it all depends. For the 2k7 tourney I only played about 20 games total and missed qualifications by about 150 spots or so. Thing is I had 2 disconnects that wasn't my fault that crushed my rank, otherwise I would have made it after they expanded it.

So how does the rules actually work? like no cheesing. putting someone at kick returner that isnt a kick returner. people dropping a game becuase they are losing, stuff like that.
