How does Front Office Football get away with using all the NFL's players name. They change the NFL teams name but they keep the players name, and you can edit your teams name to be an NFL team.

Solecismic Software, EA did publish FOF in early on in it's development.

2K directly said that they didn't want to let users have the ability to make a mock NFL game. Did you not read that interview before ?? And I'm happy they were confident enough and decisive enough to not let that happen because it would have been stupid. It's so lame the people who want to generically make their teams. 2k said they knew that they weren't going to let that happen from the very beginning.

The only reason they did that is because they're holding on to the hope that they can get the license back at some point. It'll never happen, so it seems like a pretty stupid reason to take away all the customization options at this point. It could cost them their franchise.

There is a court decision that says player's names and statistics are non-copyrightable facts. They are probably relying on that decision to make the game.

2K probably could have used that decision to try the same thing . . . but it would be risky because EA and/or the NFL could file suit . . . the decision isn't binding in other districts.
However I believe 2K Sports chose not to do that because they want a chance at getting the license back and ****ing off the NFL would not be a good idea if they want the license back.

Makes sense, but if they are so scared of making the NFL mad, why did they include the following line of commentary?
"None of that No Fun League stuff here"
