I’m playing 2k football again! I got the game when it first came out and have gone through my ups and downs with it. Everything from the excitement of playing it to the mindless rage and frustration that a new game like this can cause. Having had the game for a while, learning it and being able to see the true capability of the game, I have to say that it is BRILLIANT. The constant chess match of trying different combinations and figuring out what works and what doesn’t. I find myself driving to work contemplating new rosters constantly tweaking and improving. What a job 2k did to create something that can require such constant thought and modification, its awesome. Then everything really shone through when I played ncaa 08 with my friends at a game stop recently while we were waiting to watch a movie. Man that EA control engine just BLOWS. SO unresponsive, so sluggish, trapped with their version of momentum. It’s amazing how much better 2k controls and runs. Sure i'll get Madden because at the end of the day i'm a HUGE football fan. Even if i'm not crazy about it I need to be able to run with my teams even if it blows, its my duty lol No matter what though 2k just gets it. They know how to make responsive realistic fun games. Player models that do what you WANT them to do. Sure there is stuff that needs to be fixed but what game doesn’t have that. This may be a pointless post but I just had to let it out. THIS GAME ROCKS AND THANK GOD 2K CAME BACK TO THE GRID IRON. I can’t wait to see what they do with the next version.

You're spot on. It took me 60 online games approx. 20 playing hours before I felt as in control as I did in 2K5. But now that I'm there, its great fun.
Only note to you: Buy Madden Used. If you purchase it new, it really helps EA re-new the exclusive NFL deal in 2010. Sacrifice a little bit of your love for your NFL team by realizing if you don't purchase Madden new, 2K may actually be making NFL 2K11, instead of NFL 2K16.

Yeah it definitley took some time to figure out what positions are uselss to waste stars on. I still have a hard time getting pressure on the QB, that drives me a lil crazy and my pass defense has gotten better but it's still frustrating as hell. The more control I attain over the game though the more it shows how great it is. There is definitley a HUGE payoff to taking some bumps and learning the game. AND I WILL DEFINITLEY BY MADDEN USED! Good advice

I love football, especially since I used to play it when I went to school. When I picked up 2K5, I knew that the game was so close to the real thing as I remembered it. 2K8 is a decent title, not great. I love the new animations (WR catches, QB's throwing motion and posture, tackling), and the ability to create a good team with legends. Having an interactive sideline was a great touch. There is one thing I don't like about 2K8 though.
A lot of people like the graphics in this game but I think the graphics aren't that good at all. Certain players don't look anything like their real life counterparts (i.e. Warren Moon or Steve Young). The referee looks like a 95 year old running around in the game. The online, at least for the PS3 is horrible. I feel it take way too long to set up matches and that can be due to the 2K servers not being able to match up two players right. I got kicked out of the servers way too many times. Fortunately, there was a slight improvement (Thanks to Higgus  ) but very marginal as I still get kicked off. The status of players aren't accurate at all since someone with a good connection may have no pings by their name. And the negative feedbacks that are received when you decisvely beat an opponent is just unfair!
But 2K8 does provide the most realistic gameplay I look for. I just wished 2K can enhance the online a bit.

I think running with a ps3 your going to suffer with online play for a while. They are so far behind in the online race compared to microsoft. Xbox live is really set up well. Sony just needs to catch up and get there online world up to speed

The constant chess match of trying different combinations and figuring out what works and what doesn’t. I find myself driving to work contemplating new rosters constantly tweaking and improving.
I do this too. They really nailed it with that aspect.
I find myself saying "I wish they gave just ONE MORE legend", which means they really gave the proper amount.
For example, I hate "wasting" a legend on a kicker, but the advantages are very clear and noticable to me. I get a touchback almost half the time with my legend kicker (never with a generic), and any FG under 45 yds is almost auto (over 30 is somewhat dicey with a generic.)
Or, playing mostly zone, do I really need legend cornerbacks... can I get away with generics and my legend safeties?
So it's a constant tweak. Great fun!
