Mock NFL league starting - Serious players only.

I have a couple of guys who are looking to start up a mock NFL league with only serious mature players.

The only team officially gone right now is the Minnesota Vikings - The Steelers and Patriots are hot so if you want them say so now!

Rules:

Make 11 players all of which must be on your NFL team.

The player’s special abilities must match their traits in real life and weight/height must be exact.

Just play fair, no flea flickers all day, hail marys non stop, that sort of thing.

Those starting this league are tolerant, yet strict when it comes to these policies but I believe most who would sign up could handle it easy.

We have a lot of innovative ideas for running a league that can hopefully have a lot of longevity. All we need now are owners! :)

Sorry man but you can't give Morency power and finesse. I think we agreed that only LT could have that. Plus that paired with speed burner? No way he's that good as that's the best combo for a RB in the game.

And I think you should switch out laser arm for tough as nails or durability for Favre.

I say keep them separate. We already have 8 teams here, and there are three overlap teams. People want to play with their teams.

More importantly, the "other" league has a stated goal of 4 league gms a week. That's too many, and I'm glad this league hasn't said anything like that. Seems like that league has a bigger time commitment, so that's probably a big reason people decided to sign up for whichever league they did.

Why is Jermaine Phillips a silver? I'd be iffy on even making him bronze. I'd make Joey G or Brian Kelly that silver. IMO Chris Hovan and/or Davin Joseph are worthy of bronze tier status.

I'm not really sure what you're saying here. But if people from his league want to join here, or vice versa I'm sure that's cool. It's just that we already seem to have two separate things going w/ different ideas, and we'd have people grappling over (a) manager; (b) specific teams; (c) setup and rules. It's just easiest to let things keep going with two separate leagues.

Of course, if most people want to merge that'll happen. But it seems like lots of people are against merging.

Bush definitally should have the soft hands ability. I think he should be created as a wide reciever that you could change your playbook and put him in the backfield on certain plays. Thats what the Saints do with him now.

Yeah, but then we get into a weird situation where Reggie Bush can't be a gold, even though he's a better prospect than Peterson just because he left a year earlier. Kind of unfair. If in one situation we're basing it on NFL contribution, we should temper top 10 expectations. After all...tons of top 10 picks don't do well, especially their first year.

I'd say if a roster was devoid of talent, then a high pick could be a gold. But in the case of the Vikings (or say, the Redskins with Landry) they have plenty of legit gold-level players.

My thoughts on AP: I mean the Vikings don't have that many great players, so I guess it's acceptable. As long as you don't give him amazing abilities that he doesn't deserve. Still, Hutchinson and Winfield would be better to use for gold.

It might not have 6 teams as an option, which would be annoying. But 4 teams is better than 8 for a 14 team league. 8 teams is over half the league.

If Favre wants to go out making the playoffs, he'll have to earn it! It's all good though. Stay hyped...if we get a good league going with some fun players, it'll be fun. Maybe the manager decided we should do an 8 game season to see if we all get along/play the same style, and if everyone has fun we'll run a 16 game season right after. Personally, I think that would be a good way to go about it.

Does anyone know the answer to this question:

I have already registered and loaded my team into the league, can I still make changes (uniform, playbook, subs, etc...) or am I stuck with the team as it was first created just before I registered? If I can't then that really stinks!

You're stuck with that team.

But I am pretty sure you can change the playbook once league play has started.

hey Tylery...you should try a test game with the game speed on fast. It feels much more realistic than on Normal and also are we going to have accelerated clocks off

I can't believe I wasted my time creating the Broncos when this league hasn't even started yet...

Thats fine, I am camping tomorrow and the next... This league isn't going to officially start until this weekend at the earliest after all parties are satisfied and settled in. That is why we are stressing the long-term nature of this league so much.

You guys need to chill out/relax a little bit. Check out the post that I quoted from two days ago...the commish gave us the heads-up ahead of time that the league wouldn't be starting right away. So let's just wait a bit and hopefully everyone who agreed to take a team will sign up in the meantime, and then we'll get the league rolling. Not everyone checks this board or plays daily, so hopefully the people who didn't sign up yet do soon. Once we get our big league going, it should be fun though.
