Can you change the weather conditions when you play online? Every game I've played is in clear weather and I want to do some snow or rain.

That would be nice. I have yet to play a game in rain or snow.

it cant happen, the game would lag if it had to do the rain and snow. either that or they take it out so that only the wind can effect the game outcome. all to create a level playing field.

Umm, how on earth would snow or Rain cause lag?

IT has been in many many other games that are fully online (Hell many mmorpgs have it).

does madden do it. hell no. they just have perfect afternoons. probably just cause their lazy. as far as causing lag, i make the assumption bassed on how the game used to lag back in 2k5 wen you played offline. then again, they realy pushed the old xbox hardware to the edge.

granted, i wouldnt mind seeing online weather onine tho. preferrably in the leagues and tourniments. and, now that i think about it, MLB 2k7 has rain online. let's have it, 2K. bring on the random weather.

(probably another thing to expect next year)

they had weather online in espn nfl 2k5. I remember having a couple of defensive showdowns in night rain games. It was pretty cool.

putting weather in the game does not cause lag. however, it does use up a lot of memory, memory that can be utilized more in other parts of the game.
that is what the guy who produced fifa06 had once answered when asked the same question.

And so what if it uses up memory. These are next-gen consoles we're playing on. They have more RAM and harddrive space. It is no reason not to have weather in online games.

not to diss you but you dont seem like that big a tech nerd like myslef. the hard drive has nothing to do with it but the ram, cpu (processor), motherboard, and video card will effect that. just filling ya in.

since the rain wont be a message that needs to be sent, it shouldnt clog up bandwith. but snow might cause lag since it has to implememt the footsteps although the grass does the samething.

for a "tech nerd" like u said u are still missing a bigger step. RAM in these systems are different than say a PC for one main reason. The XBOX is a set of determined hardware and the GAMES are created to match these specs SOOOO in turn BOTH xboxs are running the same hardware and would have no effect on memory for ONLINE. Now lag COULD be a issue with more on screen things to be transfered between systems. BUT here is where I SERIOUSLY doubt that is the reason. We have shooters and such with 32 player servers with rain, dust, sun glare ect ect. we are only 2 player servers. Which is basicly direct IP to IP so this is not the case

Honestly the system specs should have ZERO reason for not having weather. Number one case would be the developers left it out. Bottom line.

Dude, I'm a network engineer, but that's neither here nor there. The point I was trying to make is that we have more powerful consoles that can handle the weather effects. None of the weather effects should cause any lag. The size or number of the frames that need to be transmitted over the internet shouldn't increase in size that much to cause any significant amount of lag.

And actually the harddrive can be used as virtual memory, which will allow a program or application to access more RAM memory than is really on the computer. So a harddrive can play a role in how a computer functions.
