I know arenas are a small issue in a hockey game to many gamers, but I like the detail that 2k has put into them in the past so that each game has a unique atmosphere to it just as it does in real life. Anyway, with all of the changes to the arenas scoreboards and such, do you think theres any chance we will see those changes reflected in the game this year?
Any other arena specifics you'd like to see in the game? Im a blues fan and noticed that in 2k7 we didnt even have our zamboni tunnel or players tunnels in the game. They just magically appeard for cutscenes. And the scoreboard was only about 25% of the size it should be but oh well.

I'm thinking the earliy issues were due to alot of the textures etc just being 'hold overs' from earliy versions. I'm thinking now that they are upping ALL the textures to hidef you'll see alot more stuff like seating more accurate. not 100% sure on that but I remeber in the gameplay demo at e3 the stands being alot more detailed and likely more accurate. But you are right, it's not a BIG deal to most but i thinkk the 2k guys know that it's a deal to enough people (same as the equipment)

i love when the arenas look close to their real life counterpart...it just adds a lot of great atmosphere...i remember back in the day when games had a generic arena...it was the same for every game you played...the only thing was the ice had the arena name adn team logo on it but the stadium was the same in every place.

from one of the videos, i noticed boston didnt seem to have the new scoreboard, in fact, in the last few years, all of the arenas have begun to look like they werent as realistic as the previous year. hopefully the hockey action will be so great that i wont even notice the arenas this year, because i dont think they have worked with them any.

I have also noticed that some of the seats are empty. When I was in the United Center, you could see the lack of attendance

So far the arenas that I've played in have looked quite good. Not 100% accurate, but I would say around 90%. This guess comes from looking around with the camera in replay mode, and comparing with pictures of the arenas off the internet. I've only checked about 5 or 6 arenas so far. The scoreboards look really close for the most part, though some look smaller in the game.
Xcel Energy Center and Nationwide Arena both looked awesome. Bell Centre looks good, but I can't find enough decent pictures for comparisons. HP Pavilion looked good as well. Again, they aren't 100%, but they look better than last year. The thing that gets me is how the teams always enter the ice from their bench, even if the arena doesn't have a tunnel behind the bench for them to enter from.

I wish they hadn't gotten rid of the locker room scene. Especially since the player models look more realistic. I also wished we could've customize our camera view.
