Ok so I was holding 2k in high hopes but everything that IGN preview said was like a symphony of kick butt hockey goodness.

I like how the stats of a character effect how they handle the puck so much, not just speed of the movement but reach of the stick. PLus the superstar moves!?!? that is just gold. Such a nice touch even if it is a canned animation and will rarely be used except in shootouts it's still nice to replay those old moments. when playing a buddy and the 'called shot' sneaks by. :P

But more impressive is the video of the goal... the defense rotates around the point shooter, the offence heads to the net, tips the delayed shot, the goalie fights to cover the puck but the player reaches arounds the goalie and the golie lunges for it as the player pops off a weak shot that sneaks in and you see the players all react as they scramble in front of the net unfolds. COulda been real footage. I love this game already

After watching On the Spot last night with EAs 08 I wasnt shocked to see the usual choppy animation that is in every EA game. But watching the 2k8 vids on IGN i was in ahh of the smooth animation of the game. Add to the fact that the presentation is looking as good as NFL 2k5 so far. Im not much of the Hockey game player so after 2 years playing on the xbox for the low price I skipped last years version. As of right, I might have to find alittle extra money to jump into the new age of NHL from 2k.
