Just Played Madden 08 PS3.....

a friend of mine just got madden 08 today and called me over to play it. All i have to say is, ***MADDEN 08 IS RUNNING AT 30FPS FOR THE PS3*** and i must tell you, the game suffers bigtime, its just as bad as 07. The overall gameplay is much improved, with gang tackling and and alot of different tackling animations, some takling animations reoccur way too often. example... when you tackle someone in mid air, they always seem to flip over, or when u tackle someone below the knees they do the same animation every time.

Another thing i noticed after playing 3 games..... in the 4th quarter of every game, the winning team turns the ball over repeatedly, and the loosing team cant be stopped, breaking multiple tackles, catching long bombs ect. I was beating my friend 28 - 7 with 3 minutes remaining and won 28 - 24.

Madden 08 is an improvement from last year, but is not worth spending another 60$ on for the PS3 at least. i'll rent it for the 360, hopefully its a better game

NJAKE, you seem to really take offense when people say negative things about Madden. I mean i think Madden is a fun factor game too. But it seems every Thread i see someone saying something bad about Madden you are right behind it defending it, or commenting about it. It ain't no problem though because i know Madden is a fun factor game, it's just not for me though. I was just asking about why you get offended when someone say something about Madden.

And i don't mean to offend you with this post, i just wanted to know.

Madden is as fake as it comes to real football.

Fake, unrealistic, unsim, arcade, whatever you want to call it, Madden is still a fun game to play. As someone said, it's a pick up game for all ages to enjoy.

in other words.... it takes little to no thought to play. So yeah... i can see how it is a popular sports game. make it simple and everyone can feel good playing it. I wish they had online leagues though... it would make me ponder trading some old games for it.

Actually they do have online leagues, but you use HAMACHI to play, you don't play with xboxlive.

I've picked it up too, only for franchise.
I'm a franchise guy and I like to sim season after season and do all the offseason stuff, playing it like a pure managerial game.
But I've spent some time in the practice mode and the gameplay just simply blows, it is light years from 2k. I guarantee I'll never play a game in madden 08.
So madden for franchise, 2k8 all the way for gameplay.

im actually kind of excited for madden 08. its too bad IMO the little improvements dont warrant a 60 dollar purchase.. im waiting for them to do something with the espn deal.

you lose.. EA couldnt care if u enjoyed it. u gave them the money.. how do you expect to ever be happy with a game if u settle for whatever? ;)

I feel 2K does that to me sometimes. On my Conference Championship Game, i went to over time, and i had to kick the ball off. Well for some reason all of my guys were blocked and the few guys that touched the ball carrier couldn't bring him down. I lost the Conference Championship game because of that. and i felt the CPU cheated, that no way that should had happened. I wanted to quit, but i took the lost and just started the seaon again.

NOPE! I don't play NHL 2K, MLB 2K (i prefer MVP). But i can't get enough of NBA 2K, and now APF (i love this game).

You didn't like 2K5? That's the game i stop playing Madden for. I use to play Madden all my life until i played 2K5.

I don't see how it went down hill from there. Besides the NexGen, Madden was the same game pretty much 06 and 07 on currentgen. So it was still good.

I'll be happy with this game, I'll play it a lot like I've done with every madden since 2001. But like I said, only for franchise mod. But whenever I'll want to play a game, be sure it will be with 2k8. Once you go 2k, you can't go back to madden for gameplay, IMHO

I like to say the same thing, but Live 08 seems to be trying to step it up this year from what i read. And 2K8 hasn't even showed us anything yet.

I'll be happy with this game, I'll play it a lot like I've done with every madden since 2001. But like I said, only for franchise mod. But whenever I'll want to play a game, be sure it will be with 2k8. Once you go 2k, you can't go back to madden for gameplay, IMHO

That's how i feel right now. I played Madden 06 and 07 because there was no 2K. But now that i've played APF, i don't even want to touch Madden this year. Madden is a good fun game in all, but i can't get enough of APF.

Well that's your opinion. I believe both games are fun to play, it just depends on the person and what they like.

It was worth it, just to invest in the future of 2K Football alone.....
