Who is going to squeeze 1 more year out of their PS2?

I am, I have other concerns right now before getting the PS3. Im hoping to squeeze 2 years out of it... I wont be interested in ps3 until the price is no more than 350 cdn. Lets just hope they make the game for 2k9 as well.

i cant wait to play on the next gen system though it looks unreal. I havent even seen the game on one since none of my buddys have one.
The only reason i would get the ps3 is for nba 2k also...

Question... can i hook up online with ps3 wireless? Right now i have a wireless adaptor for my Ps2.

Well, even at $350, I wouldn't get the PS3 as long as the XBOX 360 is less.

I'm afraid of the 360 because I know full well of microsoft's shady business practices. I paid $300 for one of the last production units of the original XBOX, with the samsung drive and it lasted just over a year and a half before it wouldn't read any discs and started making clicking noises.

I think the PS3 will be a high priced paper weight in a few years.

My nephew got a PS3 and they only have a standard def tv. He had the NBA 07 Demo and I'm looking at it and I **** you not, it looks identical to the PS2. I mean, you obviously don't expect it to blow away the PS2 at 480, but the system actually shuts off the anti-aliasing and shaders when it outputs to a standard tv.

And you are talking for $500+ you get HDMI or video cables. Even the rip-off cable companies like monster only provide s-video or component cables. I was looking for a way to hook it up to his computer monitor, but it would cost you $60 for a third party converter and that was only like component to VGA, so you know those converter boxes have lag.

For what you are paying for these systems and considering that they are supposed to be current as far as technology goes, they should come standard with VGA, DVI, and HDMI.

I mean, even when you buy a **** video card for $65 that has DVI, they include a DVI to VGA converter.

I agree, some of the games for the PS3 are just plain ish, one of the main reasons i'm holding back on buying one.... But i'll probably buy another PS2, just because some of the games they release for PS2, you can't get and obviously can't play on 360... I play 2K7 on 360...

FYI, the last I checked NBA 2K8 was only scheduled to be released on Xbox360 and PS3....so no PS2 if you want to play NBA 2K8. Unless, someone can point me else where, where it says NBA 2K8 will be released for the PS2, this post is pretty much pointless.

Well, first I would be buying a PS2 because it would be cheaper. What I would really like to do would be to squeeze another year out of my XBOX, because it would be cheaper to replace the broken drive than buying a used PS2. Of course, it's not coming out for XBOX because Bill Gates wants to force you to buy an XBOX 360.

Yeah and really I haven't seen anything from either XBOX 360 or PS3 thats anything more than the same games with HD Graphics. Thats all these systems are offering is an upgraded video card and more space, which I still question whether or not they are even utilizing or need that much space for anything other than the graphics.

I suspect games like Metal Gear Solid or the next Resident Evil will have about the same ammount of playing time as on the previous systems.

Granted I am not going to be a Nintendo Wii type of guy. I want my hand held controller and all that, but it just ****es me off that these systems have basically forced you to buy the updated systems at ridiculous prices just to play the new games.

Quite honestly I think they are about 2 years too early with the HD Gaming. When they flip that switch in 2009 and everyone must have an HDTV or a converter box, then people will be flocking to get these new systems.

My guess is that 2009 will be the year they start talking about The XBOX 720 and the PS4.

They know the game market is hot right now and they are sticking it too us as far in as it will go.

The nice thing about playing on the PS2, is that there will be less glitches and azz holes that ruin the online gaming.

When 2K7 1st came out, that's when I really started to enjoy playing NBA 2K6 again. All the azz holes jumped onto NBA 2K7 and the online gaming became much more enjoyable on NBA2K6, because it didn't have all the glitchers online anymore. The problem is that it became harder to find a game. The same thing happened to me when I used to play Socom. The new Socom came out and the previous version became more enjoyable again. There was less people to play against, but the games weren't filled with azz holes anymore. So I imagine the PS2 version will have that going for it.

I own 2-PS2's and a PS3. I bought both the PS2 and PS3 versions of NBA2K7. In a lot of aspects, I actually enjoyed the PS2 version more. The graphics where a little better on the PS3, but the game play was better on the PS2 version and it's not like the graphics where astronaumically better on the PS3 than the PS2.

If you get the component HD cable for the PS2, and play it on a HD TV, it actually looks pretty good. Much better than the composit or S-video connection.

2k8 will be the same game as 2k6 on the ps2. Just another roster update. Kind of similar to how NCAA Football 08 was pretty much the exact same game as '07's.

NBA 2k7 on PS3 was way ahead of PS2 in terms of realism. Really, man, have you even played NBA 2k7 on next gen?

I started out the season on 2k7 on ps2, was in leagues and all of that. I had fun, too, but once I played it on PS3 I was like... no way.

As for the games, I've said this like 10 times but 08 has a sick lineup for the ps3. Well, of games that I actually want to play. Not sure about you. To me, 360s lineup has sucked, too. But I'm not your average gamer. I am not fond of FPS at all, or games like Oblivion. The only games that seem to have gotten better for next gen are sports, fighting, and racing.

The new Gran turismo is going to be siiiiiiiiccccckkkk. 2k8 is gonna be sick. And plus, you can play your ps2 games on the ps3. I use my ps3 A LOT and it's not even close to broken. Never even messed up on me once. One problem, though, as I've always had with ps3 controllers, is they wear out really fast... but I might be hard on them. In about 6 months the buttons start sticking, but I buy warranties now so I can get em replaced free when they get kinda shady.

So, NBA 2k5 gamer, this is my advice to you. Only waste your money on a ps2 if you don't have a HDTV, like dude said. If you're still fcking with a weak TV then don't get a ps3, otherwise, if you like playstation (and it seems you do) you should save up because it's worth it. It really is at least 5 times better than a ps2. Plus you get a blu-ray player, wireless controllers (if you dig that, I don't... for sports games @ least, got the cord.), wireless internet standard (given you have a router) and FREE online.

People who talk ish about the ps3 online are just stupid, too. Never had a problem with that, either. Supposedly, rumors are that they might drop the price of ps3 again. Who knows. I hope if they do that everyone gets one.

Or they can keep exchanging their 360 for a new one when it stops working.

I had both PS2 and PS3 versions of NBA 2k7. Both are great and sort of different. PS3 definitely felt more smooth and realistic.... at least against the CPU.

I had a lot of fun with the PS2 version but when I got my PS3, I never turned back.
