View Full Version : Server Resets your Ratings plunge...scary

So last night I find out that the servers are going to reset the online ranking, and I got to thinking...If everybody is 0-0-0-0 and you play somebody who used to be ranked 13000 or above, what are the chances of getting a positive rating if you happen to blow them out by 60 points?...With the rankings I usually played people ranked around 100 - 500 so games were competitive...Everytime I took a chance to play people 1000 plus it was boring and very abusing...Consequently, a lot of them quit and left me a bad rating just to be jerks...Anyone else worried about this or is it just me?...Not being able to tell apart a scrub from talent is going to lead to a ratings hit...

could very well happen. That is why i never play on the lobby so it does not really effect me. I say 98% of my games come from my friends list of the leagues i am in

Yeah, but, isn't it like that the first time you logon?
After only 2 or 3 games your ranking will be up there, especially if you slaughter a scrub or two. Hang in there... in 2 days you won't scuuuuured.

Feedback doesn't reset. Look at the feedback that they were given and also the feedback that they gave(the green, gold, silver, etc. icons).

............Everytime I took a chance to play people 1000 plus it was boring and very abusing...Consequently, a lot of them quit and left me a bad rating just to be jerks........
thats one thing that SUX. you should NOT be able to rate a player if you quit. i can't believe people quit when the score is 7-0 or 14-0 and it's usually the ones (in my experience) that do the flea-flicker 20 times in a half w/ montana & rice, going for it every 4th down (4th & 15 FROM HIS OWN 30, come on...) i have rated people Positive even if they do that the whole game, i dont care, but when they quit just because they r going to lose or their "special" play doesn't work.... just sux the sweety nut sack

First, if you blow out some poor scrub 60-0 you deserve to be rated negative. Take a knee.
Second, I have it on good authority that while rank will be reset rep will not.

Don't you run hurry up a lot and run a lot of the same plays over and over?
If you crush anyone like that.. don't be expecting much in return. When I realize I'm playing a weak opponent, I either offer to quit, or sub out a gold and silver star or something.
I'll even go so far as to run field goal block over and over until they score a bunch of TDs.

Higgus. I hate to disagree with you but i will tell the truth; I aint too good at the game. I been blown out Bofa whooped my can last night and he didn't lay off me. But he didn't run up the score intentionally either. He didn't make it easier. He didn't sub people out and i thanked him for it. How is someone supposed to get any better unless they get to play some one straight up and take their losses like men. If i lose 60 to 0 i wouldn't quit. I'd ask for some advice AFTER the game but i wouldn't quit. The ONLY games i ever quit were against straight chedder and swiss. The people that give you neg for playing your game are the ones who had everything handed to them. And sadly thats what you are doing by going easy on them.

Did this actually happen? I have only played about 20 games and remembered the players that quit or gave me a bad rating. I have a couple of players on my friends list who played competitive fun cheeseless games. I do need more players to add.

Considering that the ranking system works like College Football, how is running up the score cheap???...Me, I would play conservative with a large lead because that is my philosophy, and I wouldn't like someone running up the score, but I would understand why.....
There should be a monthly ranking , but also an all-time record displayed.

Don't worry about it. Heck play me I am not that good. I would never punish someone because I played bad. Which I do alot. I am like 6 and 10. But I have never gotten mad at anyone but me for getting blown out.

Well if you guys are talking about the montly resets then that's something that they've been doing for quite a while. Problem is people get certain rank levels and then squat on those ranks leaving guys with game no chance of getting there because their rank is lower and thus no TRUE competition. With the reset a guy has a chance of making a move and the "best" guys now have to play people they otherwise wouldn't. Now if they reset the rank today then that probably has something to do with a tournament or something else.

If you are winning by 28 or more, just take a knee. What does it prove to win by 60? Winnning by 21 or 42 or 60 are all the same. You are a lot better than him and you had no business playing each other. I won a game 42-0 and I felt sorry for the other guy because he was overmatched. In was 35-0 at halftime and the other TD was defensive. At that point I was just trying to bring the game to a merciful end as fast as possible. It is not fun for me to score against hapless opponents. If I had won 60-0 (which I could have easily done), what would that have proven? That I am that much better? I already knew that. In my opinion it would have just proven that I am a giant douche. Disagree if you want, but that is what I think about running up the score.

Yeah......we had a good game last night.......if I remember right the only difference in the game was a few key turnovers that you had. With out the turnovers it would have been a different ball game because, you moved ball down the field pretty well.
I agree with you MALT......I don't really want my opponent to let up on me if he is kicking my azz because, it's kind of insulting. But, at the same time I don't want someone to run up the score intentionally because, that is just a slap in my face.
p.s. gg last night MALT

Yeah picks and you torched me with Barry F'n Foster. I have been pretty good about stoppin every other back. I couldnt tackle to save my life last night. I am devising a new team to test drive so hopefully things may level out.

I have my fun on legend. Take someone who thinks they're great on All-Pro, and take them on Legend difficulty, and watch their scheme fold on them. :)
Heck, the guys in the Wayback Machine league even commented on how it's a completely different game on Legend. :)

I haven't play this game on legend yet and would like to try it out but, I never see anyone in the legend lobby.
I know that legend mode on 2k5 was alot more enjoyable to play because, it cut down on alot of the cheesy stuff people did and it made the running game a little more realistic (all-pro setting it was way to easy to run the ball).

I'll be on in about a half hour or so (quitting time!) and I'll take you up on it. I usually hit legend lobby for a bit until I give up on waiting.
Tell ya though, despite the whining, this is where people learn that rating is WAY more important than rank. Having an undefeated record means squat if no one wants to play against you. I'm looking at you SSSSSSS.

I have a question about this. If you are playing offline, changing to legend difficulty drops your teams sliders across the board while bumping the CPU. How does this translate to online? All the CPU players on both teams are better, but the user controlled player isn't as dominant?
I'd love to play in legend if it means that people can't just mindlessly mash the sprint button to run through defenders.

So If play a guy who used to be 14,000 and i happen to be up 28-0 early 2nd should I start taking a knee?...This thread was directed at people who are actually good at this game...Unlike 2k5 any scrub could play with the Patriots and stay competitive... This year u can load you team with all legends and still get beat if you dont call the right defense...
And its going to take over 20 games or 2 weeks for the ranking to reflect real talent (rank) and poser talent-rank...A lot of people who are ranked plus 1000 would desperately try to stay relevant and do everythign they can to not fall back into mediocrity...Am just giving a heads up cause my rating dropped to a 70% rather quickly (due to sore losers like BenRichardson) and its taken a lot of ego stroking to get it back to 80%...Apparently its unsim to keep scoring even if you running the ball...Or should i take a knee in the 3rd Q?...Will that be ok if I punt on first down too?..Will that make you happy enough that u wont hurt my rankings?...stupid kids
