What do you want for an NHL game.

I mostly want a game that plays well, with as many details as possible, with a great franchise mode and most important a game that don't freeze all the time.

Realistic injuries, Blood, Cheap Shots, Scrums, Realistic Arenas with Bad Ice, Accidental Highsticks, Angry Drunken Fans, The Left Wing Lock, The Trap, Players with Long Hair and Thick Glasses, SOLID and FUN GAME PLAY!

How about boosting the damn penalty slider for online play. Target the game's with guests who just steamroll the opposing team without even having the puck.. very very annoying.

I want girls in the game in general. I mean i always make myself in the game as a solid 8something defenseman. But i might actually drag the girl into playing a little if she could make a female player :P

Who said anything about putting girls in the game making it more realistic? There have been women goalies in the NHL before.Granted they didnt last, but having the option to create women players wouldnt be a bad idea.Maybe Im just more open minded than some.

women CAN play in the NHL... so having the ability to make a female player WOULD be realistic.

Thanks for your input though. I'm sure my GF will only be allowed to play after she finishes cooking and cleaning all day... let my guess you are from a southern state?

Or why not at least creating the women's national teams so you can have a women's tournement or women's world championships. Can't complain that this wouldn't be realistic LOL

no i'm just saying that it wouldnt be good for a chick to get checked into the boards at full force.

haha I think that's a great idea actually. I bet my girl would love creating her own player that looked like her, than I could smash her into the boards to, that'd be hillarious.

I like the idea with rinks having poor ice, accidental high sticks etc... It's little things like that which can make a game awesome. The Bigs had a lot of cool stuff like that happen and it's a 2K game, I don't know why they don't think to translate some of that spontaniety into the hockey games - w/out sacrificing the realisim though

Just so you know, there will be the possiblity of accidental high sticks in 2K8 using the Pro Stick.
What I would like to see in 2K9 is for them to do something like what they did in the 2K Basketball games and implement different playing styles for each team.In other words how much they dump and chase, play physical, play positional, how agressively the team forchecks, ect.I want each team to play more like their real life counterparts.

I usually set the opposing teams strategies prior to every game for the 'pre-determined' setting that is in the game. I don't know if it makes a difference...I agree with you though.

What I would like to see is coaches though. So if Hitchcock is coaching the Avs they play his style...basically just get 40 coaches from the past 2 years, take their styles and go from there. Than you can have a 'create a coach' as well.

This is my first post in a long time, but I have supported 2K sports, primarily hockey for many years. It seems every year I have been disappointed by 2k hockey for a couple of reasons that I feel if they fixed would make a world of difference. I hope you agree:

1. Goalie Issues - For the past few years it's been way to many easy goals because the goalies where not up to speed. When I can score 10 goals in a game on a regular basis, then there is something wrong. I can't remember the last time the AI had a shutout. Hopefully this year they got it right!

2. To much up and down play - After looking at EA's version, I noticed the opponent's players moving more like they are in sync with how actual defenses move, whereas 2k's defense look a little lost and never cover well.

3. Too many shots on goal - It always bothered me that I could take over 100 shots in the game and the AI isn't far behind. Again, goes back to the up and down play

4. Shift changes - players did not shift change accurately.

I know we are all hoping for a new and exciting version of 2k8, but until companies who make sports games produce realistic non-arcade versions where it's not always about making it all glam no substance we will continue to get the same game.

Alot of what you mentioned can probably be helped with "sim" slider settings.2K has already said the AI reacts much better at slower game speeds.Shots on goal can mostly be contributed to whoever is playing the game.Obviously you are gonna have lots of shots if the person doesnt try to play a realistic style of hockey and or can't play D.I also feel that hockey has moved to a more up and down style and players trying to play more positional than aggressive.
