I have played 28 games so far. I am 25-3. I lost once tonight, and dropped from 38th to 125th. Yet, the 8 games in a row I won prior moved me up 1 spot. Then, As I am up 28-0 nothing, someone quits, and I dont get the win. Not to mention there is no logic to leaderboard rankings. How can people with only 6 games played, or 10 games played, be ahead of someone with 30 or 40 games. If one of those people is 25-5 or something, there is no way they should be behind someone who is 6-0 or 9-1. Christ, I am 25-3 and behind other people who have played 18 games. That makes absolutely no sense. I doubt they are all undefeated, so something isnt adding up.
2k sports has this entirement screwed up from top to bottom. I dont really care what happens, good luck to the rest. I may bow out of this.

Join the club.
I had two wins tonight that just seemed not to even count or something. (they counted on my rankings, but it didn't count on the tournament boards for some reason). Went from a rank of 900 something this morning @ 234 on the tourney boards to a rank of 770, yet up to 469 on the tourney boards now...

it just doesnt make sense. you shouldnt even be on the leaderboards until you play 10 games. ITs screwing up the entire thing, not to mention the no rhyme or reason as to how you get ranked.

I'm not 100% sure whats going on, but its probably because your not playing top notch level competitors. I'm ranked around 15 right now and have 20 games in. My record is not that great (16-4) I believe. Most of my wins have come from players ranked in the top 100 or so.

The only thing that is wrong with this tourny is the playoffs. I don't think everyone can make it during those times.

No its not probably because I am not playing top notch competitors. I beat someone who was in the top 20, the top 30, and the top 50 in the 3 most recent wins and didnt go up a single spot. Then, I lost to someone that at the time was 4 or 5 spots below me, and I dropped over 100 places. I then proceeded to beat someone who was in the top 60 (I was now 135 or something) 28-0, only to move up 13 measly spots. As I said, I have a better record than you, I have played more games than you, I have beaten highly ranked individuals, and you are over 100 spots higher than me now lol. Its ********.
Its totally screwed up. Period.

Either you are lying or you are lying. Every game I've played and won I've atleast moved up 5 spots or more. I was ranked around 40 at one time and beat the #1 ranked player and jumped all the way to #14 or something like that. I have also jumped down like 50 spots because of losing to someone ranked really low. Maybe you're right and this ranking is messed up, but for me its working like how it should be.

You have to play top ranked players to keep up.
If you play low rated players and lose you will drop.
Also your stats for the game matter.
if you hold down a runner for less than 100 yards or basically dominate someone, your rank will go up also

I have no reason to lie what so ever. I wish I was and the thing was actually working right. Facts are facts, its not, and its not working right for a lot of people man. So, your either you are lying or you are lying statement is unnecessary here. Thanks for your input.

This tourney is the best way to do rankings, you play scrubs, you dont move up(not saying you play scrubs.) And if you play the best of the best, then you move up. The real leaderboards shoulda been this way.

Yea, if only they could actually count all the games....I gave up on the tourney today. It seems to always count all my loses and non of my wins. Won two games in a row (one went to artibration or whatever) and neither of them counted on the tourney board, only on my xbox live rankings.

I like this except for one thing. It never gives the underdog a shot at the "title" since most guys up there wont play lower ranked people and thus "protect" their rank. The only thing I would add is that if someone challenges a top ranked dude and he declines or ignores then their rank should take a hit. Not a huge hit , but a point or two, depending on a number of things (like the challengers rep and record). This would give the top ranked people incentive to play more and protect less.
Also, yeah, depends on who you play is how you move up and down this tourney. I beat this guy , Easton Assassin and my ranking moved up alot. I was in the 70's from around 200 I think but then I turned around and played some cheating cheeser and just basically put the controller down while I went to drink some beer and drinks and let him just be an azzz i then dropped to 130 something. Also, I've come to conclusion feedback matters. EVERY TIME I played someone in the mid to low 80's it's a BS game. 90's and above and the game was clean , fun and enjoyable win or lose.

We strongly feel that the ELO rankings is still the best system to rank the qualifiers. Would you prefer that we use the Xbox live rankings and simply go by total wins?
This system rewards people for beating higher ranked opponents and is fair to everybody. You cannot be ranked 500 and expect to play rank #1 always. You need to work your way up and try to get in the top 256.

I agree 100%. But the problem is, I lose to someone who is like 6 or 7 spaces below when im ranked 40 or so, and I drop 100 spaces. Then I beat someone 28-0 who is 67 slots higher than me and i move up 2. makes no sense and its incredibly frustrating.

In my opinion, I wouldn't sit there and B**** about being in the top 256. You're making it into the tournament fool. You still have to play the games. I don't mind being in the middle of the pack. Use your head, not childish impulses that enjoy complaining first and foremost.
Say what you will, but you come off looking unprofessional Noodie.

The only reason its firing me up is the fact we get seeded based off our rank. Understand? So I think you should use your head, before posting nonsense.
Have a good one.

Noodie, the ranking system must be working right, you've jumped all the way back up to like 60 or something. You said that you were ranked around 120 before and now your 60 so thats a pretty big jump.

I had to win 8 in a row to move back up. I lost 1 game today and dropped to 260. I am 32-4 in this stupid tournament and im ranked 260. I went from 75 to 260 with one loss, by 1 point and i lost to someone who was in the top 200.

Fellas the rankings are ELO based, so it's very logical for someone that's 10-0 to have a high rank if he's beating guys all in the top 20 or so. What was the rank of your opponent that you lost to Nood? If it was a low ranked guy the drop makes sense.
This is why I wanted so badly for the records to be reset when the tournament started, that way we have a logical idea of the rank we're playing against. Without the reset you really don't know and it's just the risk you run really being a high ranked guy and possibly losing to someone outside of the top 500.
But, it's all good, I'm not complaining. The tournament has still been a lot of fun thus far.

Nope, ELO is perfect. Could you guys please use it as the standard ranking system outside of just tournies? :)

wait, the win/loss is counted based on where they are at on the tourney boards, not what they are ranked on the official rankings in-game?
crap....those are the ones that I've been going by LOL.

I haven't had any problem with the stats, I always move up or down according to who I have beaten or lost to in a game. I'm ranked 900 or so online, and was up to 31 on the tournament. I lost to a guy that was ranked 400, and it dropped me from 31 to 67, about what I would expect. I have roughly 40 games, and I am probably about 75% wins / 25% losses during the qualifying rounds. The stats appear to be working as far as I can tell.

Give me some of those wins :(, don't think I'll make it. Win a couple, lose three, win one, lose one. CAn't seem to break ahead enough to dip <256.

Yeah, I went on an 8 game win streak tear, beating a 25, 53, 87, and a couple sub 400's. Only one guy was in the 800's. That took me from over 400 down to 31. Been splitting wins/losses since then. Hovering at 80 now with 44 games played, and I don't plan on playing anymore until the tournament starts. :)
I will say that when I beat a low player, say 5000 or so, that I would only move up 1 place, or pretty much not at all. So be sure to see what their online rank is, it matters more than their rank on the tournament leader board in regards to whether you move up or down.
