The fact that you let users create a team of legends that suit their own gaming style and game plan is the ENTIRE CONCEPT which drives this game... This is the only reason I bought and play this game with my own playbook. To strip us of those very things for the playoffs is outright tyranny and ludicrous! How can you sleep at night? If people like to play defense, let them stack it. I will find gaps and holes anyways, any good player will. If they like offense, it would be a shootout either way. These pre-created teams don't "even the playing field". They just discourage us as gamers who enjoy a customized style of play. Look at the NFL (the hell with EA your gameplay is realistic) there are teams that pride themselves on Defense (Oakland, Baltimore, Tampa Bay) and there are also teams that enjoy having a tremendous offense without much support from the Defense (Cardinals, Bengals, possibly the Colts this season).

PLEASE, rebuke these created teams and withdraw them from the official guidelines and let us play they way you made the game to be played. Don't force us into an unfamiliar situation. It takes the fun out of the game. There is one thing I agree with and that is created players. Cmon guys! They arent even half as good as many of their same-ranked counterparts already in the game. They are just there, as was mentioned before, for the amazing customization when it comes to picking your star players? Who doesn't like to see themselves or their favorite player in this game? I sure do, but i wouldn't use them for this tournament.

READ this. Come to your senses. Please, for the sake of this game and its incredible simulation style gameplay that almost nearly resembles the actual game as it is playeed on the gridiron.

THANK YOU FOR THE TIME TAKEN TO READ THIS. CONSIDER MY POINTS.

There are reasons you can only play with premade teams in the playoffs, and thats so people dont abuse created players, or stack teams and make retarded mismatches like some people like to do online.

And you can use your own playbook. Dont know why you would think that you couldnt...

We have given a lot of thought about this issue and I have already addressed it several times on the message boards. We are trying to make the tournament fair for everybody and to find the best gamer in the community. For competitive purposes, the created rosters were clearly the best option.

I like the set team idea. I am behind the admin's on this one. They dont have any defensive teams though. Other then that. This is how it should be.

Tubo, you need to learn how to read. (I am well aware we can use a custom playbook) And to the Admin, I see my efforts are futile. That's fine, I'll suck it up and deal with it like a man.

What's this I hear about only having to use those premade teams for the first 3 rounds? Is it true, or do we have to keep that same team for all our play-off matches?

I agree, the way the tournament is set up is perfect. If you do enough research you should be able to find a team that fits you.

I was ranked in the top five for the first week, then I attempted to play games with the teams that I was looking at from the set tournament teams. I was able to play close competitive games but I was lucky if I went 500. It is just to hard to move the ball when everyone has 3 legend cornerbacks and your trying to move the ball with a sub par running back. The teams I used had no secondary, so I was getting torched by bronze receivers and the TE. I did notice that the teams do fairly well against the run. The teams I chose had a lot of legends in the front 7.

I do like the idea of having these teams though. When I was playing with more balanced teams it really showed how worthless and unrealistic everyone elses team selection was. I just played Eagles3434 with a pre-set team and he had one Gold and two silver corners. I mean come on. That is exactly why the tournament needed to be set up with default teams.

No sir, you need to realize what you wrote before you attack me. I was being nice before, but to be blunt, the only reason you would complain about not being able to use a team you created is because you a) suck at the game and cant get anything going without a stacked O/D, b) use stupid good created players, or c) all of the above.

Of course your efforts are futile, do you really think they would change tourney rules for you? No, no they wouldnt. 2k has done a great job with this, and I appreciate the fact that they want the best player to win, not the person who can make the best 7 foot created players, or stack and entire team on offense and abuse game AI, because if we could use our own teams, thats what would happen.

So next time, before you attack me, please pay attention to what you write. Good day.

Gentlemen, Gentleman... please. My team consists of Jerry Rice, Barry Sanders, Randall Cunningham, and a bronze C and T. My Defense has Joey Browner, Lem Barney, Albert Lewis, The Fridge, Clyde Simmons, and another DE. No Star LBs. I don't stack, and I don't suck. I'm 9-1 and as of right now #101 on the Leaderboards. If you would like to play a match, back up your talk and let me know. GT = CommaderKeen22 (yes its a typo.) Thanks for your time.

And Furthermore, I do not use any created players. Stop biting at everyword.. you're worse than a Maddenite. My original arguement was that the players in the game are much better than those you create.

Cover 2 Bump Man... with Lester Hayes at OLB... ahahaha. It was one of the most boring games EVER.

Agreed. It's the only fair way of going about this. It wouldn't be much fun making the playoffs just to go against 7ft tall WRs that could very well have 5 Gold abilities.

The heart and fun of this game, is indeed, creating "your" team and taking it to war. When they lose, recreating that "team" over and over again. Point blank, these teams suck, not complaining, but they do. There is balance, passing, and run..... what happened to defense. Making general random teams does not make it even..., just makes it random. If anything, defensive players are SOL in this tourney. What happened to Dbacks and safeties, no more than 2 on every team.

The stacking issue.....

If player A stacks on D, great. Yes, his d has a huge mismatch against your O, but the same can be said for your d and his o. Take advantage of the weaknesses in the team and minimize the strengths. Any potent offense can be destroyed by good zone play. Let them stack on O. Stop them a few times, run up the score when you get O since they have no D. Stacking is stupid and loses you the game against top competition(top 100). One great example would be the ravens. The past few years, they have been STACKED on d, but have no O, no super bowl ring recently. Stacked teams are easy to defeat, ask the top players.

Tip for Bump and Run coverage... Run sets where your receivers are a yard off the line, or routes where they run left or right first, easy to stop. I used to try to bump with Nlane, hayes, and brown. Once those receivers stepped back off the line it was awful for me.

Created players
Yes while created players generally do suck, they can have unrealistic physical attributes(i.e. 7ft corners) which can have an amazing impact(i.e. easily bats the ball down)on gameplay. Generally everybody knows what the legends can do, so when you bring in a team full of created players, the opponent is at a disadvantage because they
have no idea what each player does. I know you can look at the attributes in game, but who can memorize or get a good idea of created players skills each and every game?

Conclusion
I understand the points made when saying pre set teams are the way to go, but honestly, there are many, many, problems with these teams. They don't make the game "fair" for everybody. I like to have decent safeties, great lineman, and decent linebackers, so i can pass rush and fall into a zone. I can't get any team close to that here. The closest team to that(which isnt close btw), has absolutely nobody on offense. The player who likes to pass all day and can't play a lick of d is fine in this tourney, he has a whole bracket of teams to choose from. I have, err, nothing. The tourney will end up a shootout producing a random winner.

Where did I say you supported using them? You posted a thread with your opinion as to why we should be able to use our own teams and I followed up with my opinion as to why we shouldn't. I never said anything specifically about you.

Well I believe you guys put a lot of effort into trying to make this as fair as possible. I would rather have my own team player choices, but it is what it is.

I do have to say that I don't think this tournament is going to show who is the best gamer in the community. It will give someone a nice reward and some bragging rights, but being the best I don't think that this will show it.

After seeing what people will do just to get into the top 256 I am a little concerned to see how it will work out during the tournament.

Let's all have some fun and remember that's what this is all about.
Let's have some fun!

Hey guys, how do you use your own playbook in a game? Is there a way to load it before the game launches, or is it something you do after the game is in progress?

Thanks!

R U SERIOUS? No jk, if you haven't already noticed you can do that from the roster section in the main menu under manage team, save it and then it is ready in the game. The tourney admin said you could do the same from the tournament menu, like a real online tournament.

Oh... so we are going to have to create the teams ourselves then? Wow... I thought there would be an update with the teams available for us. Sure... if we are creating the teams ourselves, that makes sense.

Negative. You will automatically be placed into your tourney bracket and assigned your team of choice. You will be asked to select a roster when you check in tomorrow.
