Also, were you the guy that stood in front of the tank or the Buddhist that set himself on fire in front of the nuclear plant?

Websites don't make $$$ if no one goes to it because then the Advertisers will "pull out" (which your father should have done).
There are no paid advertisements, nor do they depend on people logging on for cash flow when it comes to the Sega/ESPN Online Lobbies.
BTW, Don't get your feelings hurt, I was just kidding about the Advertisers

wow! sega makes money when you go online? I always thought it costed them a ton of money to let people go online for free.If they are making money to pay for the servers they should be working.

Actually, that isn't how it typically works. Companies pay ISPs to host web sites, not the other way around, and web sites make their money off of selling product or advertising.
As for ESPN Videogames sepcifically, we do not make any money from PS2 online play. Just like web sites we pay to have our servers hosted and to provide bandwidth for them.

how hard is it for you to understand advertising. are u like 10? companies pay yahoo, google, espn, etc... to put their product on the site. thats how they make money.

Why did you pay 80$ for the game?
U call ur isp they get things fixed within a few days u call ur cable comp they get things fixed with in a couple days y cant sega?????????
You pay for cable so you can complaine and they have to fix it ASAP. Its the same with xbox live if it goes down they have to fix it because we pay for it.With the ps2 if online play sucks they dont have to do anything because its free. They might lose a few customers to EA because of bad online play but they dont have to fix anything if they dont want to.

:) -- I've made several posts asking people to fill out the form but it was only yesterday that I realized I needed to make it an announcement so it wouldn't get buried.
Despite the fact that we make no money from online play we are trying to resolve the problems because we do care that as many of you as possible have fun online. We're not the tightest ship in the sea but we're working on it.

you made $50 for each copy sold right? How many copies you think you would have sold if online play was knowlingly not available? Quit with that "were trying to do you a favor" BS and fix the problem with a feature YOU ADVERTISED that is not working properly. If you bought a new car and with no wheels would you be happy if the dealer told you "we make no money on the wheels" and you just payed for the car. I will TRY to help you with some spares from the back but thats gona have to be good enough. I think you would feel like you got ripped off and that is how segas customers feel when they bought this game for an advertised feature that doesnt work.

You took this particular statement of mine out of context based on what I had erringly said on the old boards. Here I was merely addressing Bills belief that we made money beyond the initial purchase price for online play which we don't. I was also addressing something said earlier in the thread about not expecting us to fix the problem because PS2 users don't pay an online subscription fee. I've told you repeatedly that Sega.com is looking into the problem since it's their servers on their network. Despite their efforts they have made little progress which is as disappointing for us as it is for you. I'm tired of the "Sega ripped us off and doesn't care" comments because it simply isn't true, but obviously there is nothing I can say to make you believe that.
Meanwhile I'm done here. Hopefully, we'll get a real moderator in here eventually, but this is not my real job. If I hear something about the servers I'll post an announcement. I guess I'll have to post an announcement about my absence since this will soon get buried.

sorry for the confusion but it didnt read like that. As for the rest of the post i will only say this:
ACTIONS SPEAK LOUDER THAN WORDS.
You can say "they are looking into the problem" but until progress is made people will be upset and feel that they are being lied to. Many people have posted from the IT profession offering help and asking specific questions and all of those posts have gone unanswered. I am aware that you are not the moderator and that only adds to the belief that sega does NOT care about its customers. I am sorry you have to be the victum here but sega should step up and take resposability instead of having someone who doesnt know anything make excuses for them. If you felt you had been wronged on a purchase and the responsable party sent someone else to make an excuse for them do you think you would trust that they are going to make it right? If so you are more optomistic than the rest of us.

<<we do not make any money from PS2 online play>>
That's just assinine.
Many people bought htis game specifically to play online.
And you made plenty of money off of them.
