2k5 was and still remains the best football game ever. From gameplay to presentation, nothing has even come close to what it offered. I loved 2k5 so much that I went so far as to purchase an Action Replay Max that allowed me to download rosters from the internet, put them on a card, and then transfer them to my XBox so I could always play with the latest and greatest fan created NFL based rosters. I played 2k5 until last year. In fact, this would have been the first year I didn't play 2k5, and not because I didn't want to play it; my XBox was moved to the guest room to make room for my XBox 360.
Thank goodness All Pro Football came out! Sure there are things I would like to see added to the game, but man oh man is it sweet to be playing a 2k football game again!
Thanks for bringing back real football for real football players!
2k Sport Strategy - DOA
I so enjoy the 2k series football game, I almost started a website for it (www.2ksportsstrategy.com (http://www.2ksportsstrategy.com)), but decided not to launch it due to time restrictions on my part and my inability to properly manage the site. Still, the desire was there, just not the time.
2k9 Suggestions Stick Thread Request
We all want to see a 2k9. I noticed there are a couple of threads with ideas for 2k9. Can you guys start an official sticky topic and lock it that contains a list of fan suggestions? Let the talks/suggestions occur on other threads, and just use it to maintain the list of ideas?

Heh... oh, now I get it.
But you have to admit, it's a funny, albiet unfortunate, error!

I played 2k5 until APF2k8 came out also. I tried (and hated) EA and Blitz and followed the progress and eventual cancelation of Road to Sunday (989). Thinking all the while that my football gaming days were coming to an end. It was a long four years hoping for a new footbal fix.
Now that APF2k8 is out I feel like a kid again. Getting lost in every game, trying different legends and just loving the gameplay. Like the first time I ran a sweep and saw the outside was a deadend but the o-line had created several cutback lanes. Or the first time I tried to throw on the move with Bernie (quack-quack). 2k8 may not have all the features that 2k5 had. But it gave us football fanatics something hang our hats on. And for that I am thankful.

I played the Blitz and I enjoyed it, but I recognized it for what it was, an arcade game, not a true football game. It was fun game, and I loved the way the injuries were highlighted, and the over the top presentation throughout the seasons. The story line and backdrop were nice as well, and the introduction before the game that highlighted the star player was just plain awesome. I think the next rev of 2k (2k9) should take a page from the introductions / story mode in order to make a multi-season something worth playing. I would be happy with a 3 year seasons, quite honestly, I almost never played past 3 years in franchise mode anyways. Once my star players started retiring, I always wanted to start over with another team.

ROTFLMAO!!!
Yeah I'm glad the game came out too. I mean people are all upset that this and that is missing and it should do this and blah blah blah. I look at it like this:
A) They come out with what they got
B) They hold out even longer to fix more things and put stuff in and we get the game who knows when.
Well I choose A.

Actually, i much prefer 2K5 to 2K8. Same game engine but somehow 2K managed to strip you of your ability to make defensive line adjustments, along with much of everything else that made 2K5 such a phenomenal and unique game. Sorry, but 2K dropped the ball big time with this game. I just saw a funny Youtube vid of Randall throwing off his backfoot and the ball was in the air 81 yards. You can check it out on the OS APF board in the "arcadey" thread. The legend mechanic is as arcade as it gets.

metallicatz, only Randal can do that just like in real life, not all QBs can do it.
Why do you still keep hanging around in APF forums when you are ashamed to be with APF fans just like your post a while back.
Go play your Madden or something

I definitely feel APF is better than 2K5, i think this game is great. About Randall Cunningham throwing a 81 yard pass off his back foot, i will like to see that in the game because that's something i haven't even seen any QB do yet in this game and i played it alot. Plus the guy probably had it on Rookie, matter of fact i will go to practice Mode and try it myself. After i finish playing my season game right now....

Well i just experimented in practice mode. I did throw about 80+ yards with Randall Cunningham, but 1.) i charged up when i threw it 2.) it wasn't off my back foot, he did a big wind up before he threw it. The way it looks, it looks good when you see it. He grabs the ball tight, dips his shoulder preparing for the big throw and gives it a big wind as if he is using every strength in his body to throw it.
However i did throw off my back foot also, and the ball went 60+ yards, around the mid 60's. How i know, the practice meter tells you how far the ball goes. As i ran back to the 1 yard line the meter goes in the negative (-20) then i throw it and it starts and end in the 40's, so add 20 to it and you get 60 yards.
Oh man i just had a crazy Hail Mary play, i threw it up and every misses the ball, but one of my guys that dive for it is still on the ground and the ball lands on him, so before the ball hits the ground my other guy grabs the ball off his body and runs with it.........But back to my experiment, i don't see how anyone can throw 81 yards with anyone, i just tried countless times and the only way i could even throw 80 was to have my feet planted and for him to make a huge wind-up.

And about the defensive line adjustments, that's not that big of a deal to me, i'm learned how to play with it. Plus in real football, the linemen adjust depending on the LB's position. I don't know if 2K was right by the way they implemented this in the game, but i do think it's closer to realism. But yeah, D-line doesn't just shift because they feel like it, they shift to help the LB's out.
