Say with running back, I usually press on the A button to charge up as soon as I get the ball handed off to me. Then I perform whatever moves if I still have time to execute a move before getting tackled.

If I don't do any moves, and just use the left stick to move my player, is there any kinds of benefit by doing so(like maybe some minor finesse type moves will be automatically performed for you)?

What do most of you do(or don't do) as soon as the HB gets the ball?

Depends on the back. If I had barry sanders, I'd do some jukes and spins while bursting through the line. I use Means and personally don't do any moves or powerups. I just tap A as fast as possilbe and hit the hole with no jukes. The spins and jukes while hitting the hole just slow you down. The computer will ususally do a hurdle automatically if there is a defender tackling low. In the open field, one on one with a defender, I will use the spin.

I usaully charge up once the ball is snapped and follow my blockers or pay attention to all defenders coming your way to determine when and what move will do best. Somtimes the best thing to do is to just run w/o anymoves performed unless you have to. I can never time my jukes right. Only things I can perform good are spins, ram, and stiff arms.

When running and you see a silver or gold coming at you spinning I find the most effective unless you have Earl in which he can ram through anyone. You can try to perform some moves but better be charged up for it. Only thing I hate about this game is a charge is required to get through most defenders. Makes a normal move almost useless which it shouldn't be.
