Literally when I say headache, I mean after a match you have a headache.

I don't know what it is but it hurts the eyes, as if frames where dropping or something. Am I the only one with this problem?

Is it network lag, I try to pick people with good pings, but I think the ping mechanism is fake, not everyone can have 4 green bars can they ?

It's with great disappointment that this game is unplayable online, it's impossible to play two games in a row without needing some type of drug to adjust the visual catastrophe. If you suffer from seizuers, DO NOT PLAY ONLINE. There should be a large warning on the box.

I have my gripes with the controls but would be willing to practice if online mode was playable, any timeline of having these issues rectified devs? Playing vs a computer is never not enjoyable so this game sits on my shelf. Here's hoping to find a fix.

Peace.

Read my post in the main forum about how you can tweak your router to make it better

I said the same thing about the seizuers, i did do what blue said and it work for me but it might not work for all, and i still think it a problem, i don't think we should have to go and change our router setting to play the game. 2k has to know about this, cause alot of people will reture the game if it not fixed soon.

Thank you for the advice but DMZ'ing this day and age ain't the most secure option for a lan.

I've played over 1000 games in NHL2k7 with no problems, have the ports changed or something? If so which ports?

Anyhow, I did try opening everything up and same, just played two games and have a huge headache. Could it be the people at the other end has router issues too that would make my end's performance sluggish?

I've played many other xbox games online without a problem so I'm quite certain it's the game itself, but any suggestions are welcome.

Thanks.

All i did was put my xbox ip in the dmz and it work for me. but it doesnt work for everyone i do think this is a problem and the people that don't have it are just luckey. my hope is it just a week or 2 problem and everything will be patch soon, they don't even have the league sites up and running yet. also there a few other bugs i really think and hope they rush things in the end and as we speak there working to patch it. this game didnt go gold so i expected to have problems. that dmz thing open all your port so you just have to do that. they have to fix that problem or they could end up being sue.

I did open up all my ports and that did not fix the issue. It's not the router, I've played thousands of other games online PC, PS2, XBOX360 and know how to port forward and yadda yadda, and never had a this kind of problem. I purchased some high strength Tylenol and can play a few games, but that's it. After 2 I can't take it anymore.

For those having the same problem and just out of curiosity wonder if buying NHL08 will satisfy your next gen hockey needs, don't do it. NHL08's controls are even worse and the game play is pure crap. If you're a 2k7 fan, it won't fulfill your needs. I went and picked it up and played for 3 to 4 hours and after getting the controls down I just didn't feel the realism and response that 2k7 delivers.

2k8 is definitely above nhl08 but this online issue is really inexcusable. They need to fix it quick for us online only people.

It is a framerate issue. 2K has no choice but to drop the framerate due to an old engine. It started with MLB 2K7, NBA 2K7, College Hoops 2K7, then All Pro 2k8 and now NHL 2K8. I imagine, in order to provide us (the customer) with better gameplay and added features, they had to drop the framerate because the engine they are using cant handle it. 2K used to do 60 frames (at least when sega was apart of it) with all their sports but now they cant it seems. Unfortunately the evil company EA (who has the money to burn) has taken 2K's ideas and ran with em because they now have fresh engines to support 60 frames as well as gameplay, features, leagues and even multiplayer sports titles. I am and will always be a 2K till the end kinda guy but I will not be playing any 2K sports titles until they get back to 60 frames because I cant deal with the dizziness, and nausia the games bring to me. Thanks 2K for bringing competition to video sports and I hope you guys overcome whatever financial problems you have forcing you to not do games like you used to.

for me it's not so much the framerate that bothers me...
what's with the game "unregistering" and kicking you out of online games constantly???
it always happens in the first period and lately it will happen before the puck even drops, talk about a headache!
this happens 9/10 times

2k8 is not the hockey game to buy if you like playing online

now thats a router issue.

now thats a router issue.

Let me be as clear as possible. Frame rate, or the "chopiness" issues I explain does NOT occur in single player. Single player is fine and dandy and plays smooth as pie. Online is where the choppiness comes in.

It's not a router issue as I play nhl2k7 and many other titles online without any problem.

This is a problem with NHL2k8's online mode only.

Since I first posted this, the intermittent drops and choppiness have been less frequent. So it could have been my opponent's router having these issues and they finally caught on.?

If that's the case, then the ping mechanism ( the 3 or 4 constant green bars in the lobby ) needs to be implemented because clearly, not everyone in the lobby is going to have perfect ping... So I think that's just a placeholder and would be nice to avoid the laggers.

Online mode definitely needs some patching.
