Ok.. first I would like to start by stating that I am a DIE hard 2Kn Hockey Fan.. NHL 2K7 is by far the sweetest Hockey game ever made.. sure they had their bugs, but the gameplay, and online play were phenomenal.. I've been giving NHL 2K8 a chance, yeah there's some lame changes (New Menu system sux, old controller configs not fully supported - but that's minor, you can get used to the new config after a game or two, and some other), but they have incorporated a bunch of cool new features (which is what I would expect in a newer release)... But it doesn't make up for a lot of changes 2k Sports has done.. Why change a great game.. sure add the new features, but for the most part leave the game as is.. Anyhow.. I'm not against 2K8.. I enjoy it, and the new features, but in the end, it is no 2K7..

Online play - this is horrible.. the frame rate is soooo bad.. and changing your DMZ to open up your ports completely isn't the solution. It may "improve" your game play experience, but that's not the problem. I think the problem is that the framerate went from 30fps (2K7) to 60fps (2K8) which is pretty difficult to synchronize over an internet connection. Regardless, in my opinion it's left online gaming for this game pretty unbearable.. If the online play for 2K8 was the same as 2K7, 2K8 would still be a great game, but because 2K sports didn't deliver this, it's a very sad dissapointment. And I highly doubt they will release any kind of patch, because when did they actually patch any of the defects for 2K7.. umm.. NEVER..

At this point, 2K8 is still fun, when a buddy comes over and we play head to head, but online play is soo bad, that it's not enjoyable at all!!.. 2K7 is the best hockey game ever, and after buying and playing 2K8, 2K7 is still the God of hockey!!.. I really hope 2K actually does something about 2K8 Online, otherwise I can guarantee there are going to be a lot of angry die hard customers, including myself..

If they don't fix 2K8, I would be happier if they released an updated Roster for 2K7 and just play the greatest hockey game of all time.

It is a framerate issue. 2K has no choice but to drop the framerate due to an old engine. It started with MLB 2K7, NBA 2K7, College Hoops 2K7, then All Pro 2k8 and now NHL 2K8. I imagine, in order to provide us (the customer) with better gameplay and added features, they had to drop the framerate because the engine they are using cant handle it. 2K used to do 60 frames (at least when sega was apart of it) with all their sports but now they cant it seems. Unfortunately the evil company EA (who has the money to burn) has taken 2K's ideas and ran with em because they now have fresh engines to support 60 frames as well as gameplay, features, leagues and even multiplayer sports titles. I am and will always be a 2K till the end kinda guy but I will not be playing any 2K sports titles until they get back to 60 frames because I cant deal with the dizziness, and nausia the games bring to me. Thanks 2K for bringing competition to video sports and I hope you guys overcome whatever financial problems you have forcing you to not do games like you used to.

I too am noticing the framerate issues with online play.

The easiest way to see this is by playing a game offline (just go into quick play or play now (don't remember what it's called) and play a game).

Then go online and play game and you'll see the difference immediately.

Then go back offline if you want to double check.

I had thought the framerate issue was gone, but it was just that i had begun to get used to the framerate online. Offline and online framerates are CLEARLY different. This is not a router issue nor is it a port forwarding/DMZ issue. This is a technical issue between online/offline play and the change to 1080p/60FPS.

This needs to be addressed ASAP.

League websites also need to be addressed. No word from anyone on when those are going up. I can't believe the community hasn't been vocal on these issues.
