Well it depends if your opponent is a good runner. If he is a good runner you are going to get hit inside and out.

if you continually keep 7 in the box you'll get run on everywhere unless you have exceptional talent up front. I have no legend ILB and I play a 3-4. Safety support on the run is key, just have to manually tackle well.

For some reason, you CANNOT run the 3-4 defense the way it is designed to work in reality. You absolutely MUST have a run support safety, because the the 2 inside backers get sucked into blocks way too often.
My best 3-4 squad has:
DT-Art Donavan.
Derrick Thomas and Bryce Paup as OLB
ILB-Jessie tuggle
SS-Joey Browner
CB- Lem Barney and Terry Mcdaniel
I have another one with Derick Thomas and Paup at OLB,
Lester Hayes, Eugene Butler, Albert Lewis,
DL- Clyde Simmons, Dan Salemua

I agree with you, and actually have pretty much given up on the ILB picks for the time being. Here is my squad:
NG - Saleaumua
OLB - Derrick Thomas and Brad Van Pelt (nice for covering TE's)
ILB - Nobody - coverage
FS - Nolan Cromwell (tackling bonus)
SS - **** Anderson (best silver coverage SS IMO)
CB - Albert Lewis (Tackling bonus)
This team stops the run just fine! I played a kid last night who had earl and had a 60% win percentage, played just about 100 games and guess what, earl rushed for 28 yards! The legends I have on D have tackling bonuses and he could not do ANYTHING.
On another note, the nickel 3-3-5 is pretty awesome with DT as the OLB because you can flip him back and forth to get pressure from both sides! I think it really frustrates another team that may have spent a pick on a tackle to protect their QB.

How's your pass defense?

How's your pass defense?
It struggles if I do not get pressure with Derrick Thomas. Oftentimes I am too aggressive in trying to get INT's so that gets me in trouble giving up big plays that should have never been, but I've realized the big key factor is pressuring the QB. People choke under pressure very often.

^^I like van pelt as well, he is like having an "extra" safety..he can cover tight ends and is wonderful in zones.

It depends on your play calling. I use only 3-4 defense and I am ranked in the top 30 in defense. I rarely give up 100 yards rushing in a game. 3-4 and 4-3 both have their strengths and weaknesses so you have to use your play calling to the advantage of the particular defense you are using. If you are used to using 4-3 and switch over to 3-4, don't expect to do great right away, you will probably have a tough time stopping the run while you're adjusting. Don't think switching defense is going to be an instant stop all offense solution because it's not. At the same time, don't listen to these morons that say no matter what you will get blasted if you use a 3-4 defense. In the end, whether you run 4-3 or 3-4 it all comes down to your play calling.

And since you are soo damn good with the 34 how about 1 of your playcalls? After all if you run a good defensive system you should have more than 1 playcall. So why not share one?

As dumb as this post is I will respond to it. First of all, I am not trying to brag that I'm so great, which is obvious that you took it that way. I was merely stating the potential of the 3-4 defense. Second of all, play calling is different than just the plays in your play book. I could name a play and you would think, "what's so great about that play, I use it and it's not that good". It comes down to what situation you're in, identifying your opponents tendencies, and sometimes just plain luck. Most people, I have noticed tend to favor either zone or man. And some people swear they will not use the other because it doesn't work. If you run man defense all game your players will wear out and become fatigued, but if you run zone all game, any decent player will recognize it and tear your defense apart. The trick is finding a good balance. I'm not saying I haven't had games where I just got wiped up and down the field, because everyone has. When you're outmatched, you're outmatched. I'll tell you a few of the plays I use. cover 2, 2 soft, 2 hard, combo inside zone, hard fire, force fire, but it won't help you unless you can utilize them correctly. These are all plays that I'm sure everyone uses and I'm not by any means the best player online, never claimed to be. I just know I really like the 3-4 defense because I have found great success with it. What crawled up your ***?

I agree SD21...
It is all about how you implement it and the players a person uses in the system.
It isn't the same as 4-3.
And like you said there are going to be games when an opponent finds away to get that yardage, but the same goes for 4-3.
I switched over once my NFL team switched over.
I have the 4-3, Nickle, Dime in the book, but I rarely use them now that I'm using 3 DL system.

Yeah, there have been games where I felt I was simply outsmarted and my opponent wiped the floor with me. I seriously doubt it would have mattered if I had the 4-3 instead.
Another way I like to think of the 3-4 is that your defense will be more mobile but less powerful(so to speak). I especially like it against Earl Campbell, because many times he runs through D lineman so I feel with a faster 3-4 defense I have a better chance of getting the gang tackle before he can break too many yards. And everybody is pretty much aware that 9 times out of 10 you need to gang tackle him to get him to go down.
Just for the sake of conversation how do you setup your D for the 3-4? I have one gold OLB, one bronze OLB, one bronze ILB, one silver NT, and 2 bronze DB's. I use created players to make the Chargers so it's like this:
OLB Shawne Merriman Gold
NT Jamal Williams Silver
OLB Stephen Cooper Bronze (going to change to Shaun Phillips)
ILB Carlos Polk Bronze (going to change to Matt Wilhelm)
CB Quentin Jammer Bronze
CB Drayton Florence Bronze (going to change to SS Eric Weddle)

Actually I didn't take it that way. I didn't take it as bragging. I took it as you say you know what you are doing, so help the guy that wants to run the defense with at least one good call. That's all. Hope this helped him.

My apologies then, but when you said, "since you are soo great" I took that as sarcasm. In the end it comes down to predicting your opponents plays and knowing what is the right call to pick. Being able to predict their plays for me is easiest when you have figured out their tendencies. Some people are very good at making their offense unpredictable and those are the people that are the ones that I more often than not take too long to adjust to and end up with one in the "L" column. It is not which plays you use, but when you use them.
