View Full Version : What do you think of Jerome Brown??

I played a 3 minute per quarter game. It was against a CPU team that had all generic WR's, Marcus Allen at HB, and ran a 3-4 Defense. In this game (Set on All-Pro difficulty) Jerome Brown had sacks on 4 consecutive plays!! I controlled him on 2 of these plays from the beginning. Jerome was going against a generic Center and Right Guard. I have heard some say that Silver or Gold picks may not be worth it on the D-Line - but Jerome has changed that brief opinion of mine. Your thoughts?? Thanks

P.s. - Jerome had 5 sacks in the game and he blew up several running plays.

I think Brown and Lilly are the 2 best DTs in game. Salaumua is ok.

Jerome is a Beast and Dan Hampton is even better. Now picture both of them on the line at the same time. That means no inside run and plenty of pressure.

When you play with him online, people will run away from his hole, its that simple.

You've hit the nail on the head Njake. Basically I love it when I see people spending gold and silver picks on their D-line, because you just run plays away from them. Yeah, they may get two or three sacks a game but so will a bronze lineman or even a generic player.

Also, you can just slide protect to the side he is playing on and double team him almost every pass play. I think DL pressure could get nasty if someone had a good DT on the left side of the field and a good DE on the right side or vice versa. Being able to slide protect and take away the one good DL isn't that hard.

^^^^^One of my teams is a late 80's Philly Eagles D-line team:

Reggie White
Keith Millard
Jerome Brown
Clyde Simmons

Those guys arent easy to block..1 of those 4 is going to have a multi sack game at least.

Throw in Willie Brown, Eugene Robinson and Lester Hayes in the Secondary, and I hardly ever have to blitz with this team.

nyknicks, a good runner would dominate that, because there is no LB's, or are there?

Run away from my DTs, then you have Wilcox OLB and Tuggle ILB to deal with. Along with Reggie White DE. And 2 Wrapup Tackling Cbs. Now where you going to run?

To the endzone as my 3 WRs bypass your bronze or generic DBs with the ball from Dan Marino.

Yep,its how u align your defense..and it kills me when morons say DL is overrated..you think Jerome Brown is good?Try Elvin Bethea...he is a monster and has leadership ability..he can dominate..but I play him on the strong side of my DL and I have Llyod and Runnie Lott on the left, with Joey Browner on the right..a good DL with a solid aligned defense can spell trouble

You won't have time to pass more than 10 yards. Lewis CB, McDaniel Cb and Robinson FS will see you don't make it. Plus I'm playing Generic SS. I average a int a game with about 4 tackles.

This could go on and on. Lets just agree that the game requires balance on all sides. All I was trying to say is that if you make one part of your defence very strong, then other components of your team may not be as strong, therefore vulnerable.

Its just the nature and the beauty of this game. Using gold and silver picks on your D Line may work for you, I just find I get better value elsewhere. I'm sure your team works for you. Good luck fella.

I have Chris Spielman in the Middle..I must have the safety up the majority of the time when I smell run though just in case.

Jerome is a monster. I had an 8-sack game with him in one of my leagues....and I dont play as the D-Line.
