1) Is it better/worse than you thought it would be?
2) How many games have you played?
3) Are you looking forward to a new game in '09 or '10?
I'll start:
1) This game is much better than I was anticipating. This game forced me to buy a LCD HD TV. The gameplay, graphics and presentation exceeded my expectations.
2) I have played over 300 games online alone. I have never played any game this much. I can't wait to play the next one. The chessmatch - like gameplay against online competitors is addicting. I also enjoy seeing what kind of uniforms people dream up.
3) Absolutely!

1) It's about what I expected
2) I've played probably 100 or so games between on and offline.
3) I'm looking forward to a totally dialed in game for '09.

1.) A good game in its own right. And the best football experience out there...
2.) Not on 2K5's level.

If we had enough interesed people there are so many things we could do with this game. I think that's the saddest part. We could do an "ALL LEGEND LINE" league where you have to put all your picks on the line and play or an "ALL LEGEND SECONDARY" league or an "ALL LEGEND DEFENSE". Just a whole bunch of different variations with this game but there just isn't enough people. Well there are but....

1) Feature wise it's a lot less complete than I thought it would be 'in game'. Out of game, the leagues and tournaments (since I never played online with 2k5) just blows me away.
2) About 90 games now.
3) Absolutely!

1.) It's not quite as good as I thought. The generic system isn't as good as I hoped. Gameplay/momentum changes aren't perfect and not as fun as 2K5, but it fixed most of the glitches in 2K5, so it's an okay trade off. But I do hope for improvements in 2K9. However, I did buy a 67 inch Samsung DLP 1080p TV just for this game.
2.) I've played 160+ online. I don't play offline, didn't in 2K5 either.
3.) Can't wait for 2K9. I hope they make the gameplay as fun as 2K5 without having to make DLing glitching and QB running as easy as it was.

The only problem with that is that this game is about having your own strategies and playing to your strengths and around your weaknesses. If everyone has an all legend defense, for example, there is no strategy. Everybody knows what everybody else's strengths and weaknesses are. Strength = Defense, Weakness = Offense. But I do understand what you're getting at, that there are a lot of possibilities and such.

I'm bored, I want NFL teams now that the NFL is here. I forgot how much I miss franchise NFL mode in 2k5 until i popped in 2k5 again.. I refuse to get madden because it is boring and sucks. I want a NFL game with this game play :(

1) It's about what I expected it to be. It's 2K5, but better...
2)I haven't played it as much as I used to play other games, but that is only because I don't have as much time now as I used to.
3) I'm more looking forward to '10 then '09. I'm sure 2K is going to need a few installments to really get things going like they did with their original franchise. But, either way, it's going to be good.

If you took the gameplay from 2k5 then added the custom playbooks, teams and uniforms you would have the greatest game ever. I have trouble enjoying this game like I did 2k5 becauyse its sooooo hard to make plays on defense. I used to love to play safety in 2k5. I also dont like how man defense doesnt seem to ever work.

The gameplay is much better than I expected. The player models aren't as good as I'd hoped, but the stadiums are very nice and the gameplay is so good, I don't care what the players look like.
I've played about 15 games since I got it last saturday (late starter because I was playing Madden 08, I've been converted). Haven't enjoyed a football game this much in years.
Very much looking forward to next year. Would like them to get a network contract of some kind for better presentation. NBC, FOX, etc. Didn't think I could play a generic game, but I was wrong. Not saying I'll never play Madden again, but they will have to win me back. I will be thinking 2K first next year.

1) This game exceeded my expectations by far. I've never played this much of a football game since tecmo super bowl, or any video game for that matter. I always feel I can counter problems with football tactics. Plus I'm an exclusive online gamer so this game is directly marketed to me.
2) I've played about 250 games online. I have honestly never played an offline game, not once.
3) I'll be getting the next installment immediately. I'm kind of concerned about doing legends again, I mean it would get stale next year if I still face Earl, or Lem every single game.

1) Is it better/worse than you thought it would be?
Helluva lot better. I didn't expect too much b/c I'm more of a franchise player. But playing offline is still great with making teams and finding the right tweaks for what works with what. Playing online is also a great experience. This is the only sports game I've played online more than twice.
2) How many games have you played?
Enough to know this game is the shiznet
3) Are you looking forward to a new game in '09 or '10?
Hells yes!!!!

1) It is better in more ways than I could possibly count. It is worse than I thought because of the absolutely horrid User Interface with hidden or absent features for no readily discernible reason and the constant glitches that cause me to lose my teams because the game forgets I have a hard drive on my Xbox 360.
2) I have played nowhere near enough games - it sucks having to go to work for a living. It also sucks that because the teams I create will spontaneously disappear, I don't get to play with them as much as I even try.
3) I am very much looking forward to any and all new football games from Visual Concepts. I am desperately looking forward to a patch that fixes the ongoing glitches that occur with AUTOSAVE, Season Save, Tournament Save, League Save, Playbook Save, Audible Save, Replay Save... Heck, it seems I have experienced system lockup glitches with just about every conceivable Input/Output operation the game does on my Xbox 360. If only there wasn't wasted time developing a PS3 version, maybe this one would have been more fully tested and properly optimized.

You sure it's not your 360 causing these saving issues? This is the first time I've ever heard anyone complain about it.

1. It is much better than I expected. I popped 2k5 in the other day and I was surprised how much more I like APF over 2k5 now. It's like a night and day how much better the gameplay is in APF. The only thing I like better in 2k5 is the responsiveness of the D players and presentation/custom sound tracks.
2. Not sure the # of games exactly, but it's around 250 games online and 14 offline. I have never played a video game this much in such a short amount of time. I seriously like this game more and more everytime I play it. It's that dam good.
3. Am I looking forward to APF2K9? H E double hockey sticks, YES.!!

1) Want more, give me the ability to fill out my team how I want them. Dont give me generic players that I have no clue what they are good for. Franchise mode, I am not crazy for but its nice to have. I enjoyed this game online so I can live without it. Its not close to being the same as 2K5, I feel more in control on offense then defense.
2. About 70-80 games online
3.yes

A quick assessment of those who have responded so far:
1) Is it better/worse than you thought it would be?
most are very pleased, some want more!
2) How many games have you played?
even those who are luke warm have played nearly 100 games. 2K should charge $1 a game... and people complained about paying $60.
3) Are you looking forward to a new game in '09 or '10?
everyone's ready!!

Higgus inquired, "You sure it's not your 360 causing these saving issues? This is the first time I've ever heard anyone complain about it."
I'm fairly certain it is NOT the Xbox 360. I don't have any problems with any other games at all. I have not been able to track down a specific cause, though I believe it is somehow tied to the AUTOSAVE function in particular. I went the longest time without an issue when I turned that OFF at the main screen. However, whatever base settings you have on your system are grandfathered over to Season, League or Tournament games you join with your teams. Any attempt to edit settings from within those modes is likely to lead to a crash. I have seen similar problems relative to 2K Sports other Xbox 360 games, MLB and NHL the past couple of years. Not so much on NBA, but there have been reports there too. The primary issue seems to have to do with AUTOSAVE repeatedly accessing the universal Roster file on the hard drive. If it is interrupted in any fashion, you lose everything and have to start over.

1) Is it better/worse than you thought it would be? Better, Its a good damn game of football. I havent played this many online games ever in any game period Well console game..
2) How many games have you played? Online? over 250.
3) Are you looking forward to a new game in '09 or '10? The faster the better. I would like a 09, but if nothing, 10 would have to work. I just will play 2k8 until then. Wont have any other choice.

I'll just say that it doesn't compare to 2k5. And it is fun ..it's a different kinda fun. It's better then this years madden. However, it reminds me of 2k1 with madden 06. The abilities are like the cheat cards you could get with points. Like sticky fingers and such. I would say that soft hands ability is like that for example.
The arcade aspects of madden mixed with the 2k engine+a game that needs better focus to defense in alot of aspects.

1. It is a little bit worse than I thought it would be
2. I've played 5 games offline and online
3. Idk, I may have been better off going with Madden. There is almost no user control with All Pro. Using the RB (360) to intercept passes is weird. I probably will not get this game next year. I may even get Madden 08 if I don't start liking this game

1. 2K8 turned out to be better than I expected.
2. Probably around 60. Haven't played it a few weeks because I been too busy playing Oblivion (another great 2K game)
3. Yes. Hopefully they will add more legends, more customization (it was great to begin with), and improve the graphics a bit.

1) It's great! The only downside is there is no offline feature besides a single season mode. I would have loved to see VC incorporate their deep franchise modes from other games.
2) I was racking up online games until my Gold Membership expired (I don't have the funds to get it back up right now). I will tell you that this game is the one game that got me into playing online. I hate the cheese & glitches from other games, but APF found a way of making them pretty minimal.
3) Hell, at this point, I'd shell out another $60 for APF 2K8 WITH a franchise/season mode. But yeah, I'll keep buying them. Good bye Madden!

I've played mostly in Practice and Offline Modes to get use to the new controller because I'm new to 360 Xbox. I've played 6 games online I think.
The game is better in some ways and worse in others.
Better choices, options, animations, etc...
Worse because I think they could have gone a little further with what they put out. Not talking about franchise, I'm talking about what was released.
Better playbook manager, not allowing obvious glitches to be released, voice sync is still not there, commentary is kinda old and just rolled over.
I look forward to 2k9 version, but they have to correct some stuff otherwise they will become another EA where they are just shipping about BS to profit off of.
I like the game, but sometimes I'm confused about Stars roll.
Sometimes it really doesn't seem like their presence matters. There is an inconsistency.
