Im in desperate need of a good football game on the 360, but I dont have xbox live, and it doesnt seem like im getting it anytime soon... Im wondering if all pro is still worth getting without live.

I say it is worth it. Even though there is only a season mode and no franchise, I have enjoyed playing several seasons because you have so many different teams you can created and use. I believe you can get the game now for $29.99 which is a deal.

And if you have any friends at all who know how to play 2K football.. it's without a doubt worth $60 just to play them at ur house.
If you can get it at 29.99... it's even worth it for offline only. Especially if you have tried Madden 08 and got to see how the gameplay is just as lackluster as it's always been.

Yes sir. Although I really only play that game online because I am a franchise *****, I have played it like crazy to practice and make teams and it is far far FAR better than it's competition. I still flip flop and play my 2k5 franchise in year 8 and my 2k8 online leagues and have friends over for beer filled days of drafting and playing. And when I win, I play JUKE BOX HERO by Foreigner as loud as my surround sound will go, thats my trophy. Definitely 2k8 all the way Jackson!

This is not the place to ask. Everyone on these boards are biased towards 2k, of course they are going to tell you to buy it. For the record I am biased towards it as well because it is a better football game then Madden (I have both, and enjoy both)
If you do not have xbox live, this game gets boring fast, no matter how great the gameplay is. Having a season mode that only has 1 season at a time, and no features for season mode, It is boring.
Madden's Franchise mode is solid. With all the weekly awards, draft picks, scouting, signing free agents, trades etc., it is a solid experience. OFFLINE.
I only play APF online and I only play Madden Offline.

Not everyone has fun living in their own fantasy land. Even if 2K8 isn't great offline, the gameplay is great offline.
Gameplay is the game. Franchise and all that stuff could be done in a text only game without even a game to play. Madden is like that except they add a horrendous gameplay just for kicks.

Njake, Is there a slider in Madden to adjust the game speed?
I had always said I was going to be open-minded enough to at least rent it to check out the franchise mode since, at heart, I'm a franchiser.
But after playing the demo and it's insane game speed, I may not even do that.

Im pretty sure there is a slider to adjust the game speed.
And the gameplay is not terrible, it is tolerable. Tolerable enough to get it for offline play

Eh... what I played in the demo was not "tolerable" either. I'd have to slow it down to a realistic speed. The main problem was it was so fast that I couldn't tell what happened. Granted... the game will have replay. The demo didn't.

I agree with alot of the above. I am pro 2k, but I am not anti the competition. I have had all the competition games from 92-01 (baseball, football and hockey), then switched to 2k2 football and hockey on Dreamcast and never went back and switched to 2k baseball in 2k5.
I agree that the offline on 2k8 gets stale quickly, I havent played the computer more than 3 times, which is why I still play my 2k5 franchise. However, I do have buds nearby that comeby to play offline and we also play online which is the cat's fanny.
If you have people to play with, then a definite YES! If your not into franchise modes, thene YES, but offline it is a NO for me. Online Leagues=Incredible'

I love the franchise mode, but Madden was unplayable for me for the 2nd year in a row.

Thats the problem with the world today, they turned into a bunch of mode junkies. What happened to just playing the game of football. This is how next gen football was supposed to be played and people still ***** cuz of the lack of modes. Get over it,its only a year you have to deal with it cuz you know 2k9 will have plenty of replay value. For now enjoy real football.
Every year people waste their money on half assed roster updates like madden that still have the same glitches since the first 360 game. 2k8 doesn't have those crazy glitches that madden has like magnetic hands,Favre's moonwalk, catching with their butt..lol
or players with superhuman speed. 3 yrs for madden and still cant get it right, yet 2k gts it right first time around.

Well I can say that I have played 200+ games online and not 1 single full game offline aside from the couple I had to play to get all the achievements, so I guess that is not exactly a vote of confidence for the offline game on my part.
