Looking at Take Twos releasing strategy of 2ksports titles outside of North America is not much but frustrating. Okay, they have catched up a bit with PAL releases - we don't have to wait for months for NBA and NHL anymore.
But if you are interested in the other titles and are on PAL 360, you have a problem.

Over on OS a dev said that there is no market for those games in Europe and because of that, no PAL release is planned. I can totally understand that, but why are the US releases of games, which are not planned to be published in PAL, not region free? It wouldn't harm sales of T2s european departments, simply because there won't be a european release. It would have no cost for distribution and marketing on T2s side; the few interested fans from overseas just imported their region free US games, generating some extra sales in this way.

That this way is even possible with Take Two have they proven with the PS3 versions of their latest releases: They are region free, no problem with importing and playing them on PAL consoles. And as with Microsoft, the publisher is free to chose to region-lock games. For whatever reason, T2 decided against it, but only on PS3.

Does Microsoft want some extra cash or what is the problem?

they said CHoops won't be overseas. The reason why from 2K people are that the market for college hoops overseas isn't that big of a market they said so they aren't going to release it overseas

^^I understand that they will only release it in North America and why they do so. The thing I want is that they release a region free version in the States so that I can simply import it and be able to play it on my PAL 360.
It wouldn't make any difference for US-gamers.

@Papas: that increases the support group in this forum for it to the incredible number of two ;)

Tell me about it. I bought an NTSC PS2 a few years ago just for college basketball. I was chuffed when the PS3 was region free.

I'm selling my NTSC format PS2 with NBA 2K7 and College Hoops 2k7 if anyone who does not live in the USA is interested? £50 for the whole lot.

I want it to be region free too for the 360. I love the college basketball and I would love to play college hoops on the next generation. I wasnt able on 2k7 so I hope they fix it with 2k8. I know they wont... anyways...

If 2K were smart, they would have a policy on this.

College Hoops is definitely catching up over here....I've been following it since about 1996 or so when John Wallace made a tourney run with the Orangemen....I've been hooked ever since....I often asked the same question on why they couldn't just release it region free....not a pal version....if it's region free, then overseas people can at least import it....as for me, I did the only plausible thing, got rid of my 360 & got a PS3....such is life....I have College Hoops 2k7 & 2k8 should arrive in the mail today or tomorrow....I might fire up a legacy with St Mary's & Paddy Mills or Vandy with Andrew Ogilvy....

Hey, do you know what Patrick Mills ranking is? I want to play St Mary's with PAtrick, but worry that because he was unknown to the developers before this season that he will suck. After 37 pts against Oregon and 20 against Seton Hall (Gonzalez called him one of the best PGs he has ever seen, which is alot coming from the Big East)- he deserves some props.

I don't have the game yet, but I'd say his and Andrew Ogilvy's ratings will be crap....both of them should be at minimum about at 70 overall as freshmen, maybe more....you can go over to Operation Sports & pick up roster updates there....some are just player names only, some are adjusting ratings too, & Mills & Ogilvy are both now rated more respectfully....

I might just get the names roster update & manually edit those two guys....main thing with Mills is making him quick as, a good FT shooter & a good stealer....everything else could be tinkered with I'd say....
