If you have a 360 save your money because the game is useless for online play. You will get network errors time after time and there is no fix for it. Router or no router it happens. Be warned !!!!! I called 2K and they will not even acknowledge the problem. SAVE your money. And also the franchise season freezes again. What a joke to release this game to the public. I don't think it was tested at all. EA is catching up a little more each year and alot of my friends say it is actually better this year.

Online play is sketchy but EA's is also not an alternative, it blows even more. I think there's room in the market for another company to join the NHL franchise. :)

Every game of 08 I have played online has been flawless. I don't know where you get your information from.

It amazes me how a company like 2k won't acknowledge it. Don't they realise it was stuff like this that brough Atari and SEGA down from their high pedestals. You guys can totally save yourselves a lot of po'd customers (and there has been a lot every year for a lot of really bad glitches that we as consumers have used work arounds that barely work and cut a lot of the features from the game) if you guys have to lose a lil money to make people happy you're gonna make a lot more money down the road and possibly overtake EA which means bigger bucks for all you guys.

I know i've been a pretty vocal one since 2k5, but i still haven't deterred buying your guys' product because i feel you guys do really great work, but there are some glitches that are just too big to overlook and these are it. You guys gotta find a way. Or at least let us know in an official statement that a patch is on the way so you guys save yourselves a lot of customer service hours with less load of customer complaints on the system. It all saves you guys money maybe not right this second, but over the next 20 years 2k can establish itself and redeem itself with a fix here, hire some extra guys if the loads too much, sometimes you gotta spend money to make money and you guys aren't number one yet. You're closing in, but only because EA also goofed up pretty bad on their end, but they are releasing a patch.

Guys, I don't think that I've ever made a post on this forum although I read it 3-4 times a week, but I've gotta put in my 2 cents worth.

I am a huge 2k fan, but after this years game, I am totally totally fed up with 2K. I had 6 great online games with friends and then in the middle of one game it freezes. When I go to load back up, I get an error message that says....GET THIS..."PLEASE PUT THIS DISK IN AN XBOX 360 CONSOLE"....What??? I havent been able to load the disk since. The guy at EB games tells me that apparently 2k Maxed out the capacity of the disk and for some reason this happens....I don't know if thats true or not, but the fact still remains that I now have a $60 coaster.

So unfortunately, after 5 years of dedication to 2K, I am now taking my business to EA, they may not have the superior "hockey" game, but at leased they seem to have their act together when it comes to online play.

Congratulations 2k, you just lost 1 out of an infinite number of customers. Theres only so much gamers will take, and I think 5 years of glitches and game issues is enough.

Ask yourselves this. How is it that Ubisoft, Microsoft Game studios, and others game developers can release products that handle 16 players online in one session without a problem, but you guys can't manage to get 2 people to play a hockey game without issues. Not to mention the season and franchise issues. Something to think about. Oh heres a suggestion for you though. HOW ABOUT BETA TESTING IT!!!

My thoughts exactly.

I don't blame you guys, but i still think playing a glitched up 2k (like 2k2 on dreamcast) is more enjoyable Sim-wise for me than EA. I don't like EA's stick work on D. I'm fed up with both companies to tell the truth. IF they combined both games it would be the most perfect hockey game ever. But then no competition would mean no future for NHL games after that.

whats the best game between both, honestly?

I don't mind the D in NHL 08 although I do think they could have done more. In any case you HAVE to play your position. I've been burned by the CPU so many times because of my mistakes on D. I still can't believe how good the AI is in that game. NHL07 took me 3 games to master. I am 20 some games into this season and I have a losing record :(.

Easily 08. Online and offline it is a far superior game.

Online is smooth and easy to get into a game. Offline the AI is amazing.

NO i disagree. I won half my games on superstar heading to the playoffs in my first season in 08 and in 2k8 i misssed the playoffs in my first season and finished dead last on hall of famer sim settings.

i really like 2K's innovative attitude, but its time for reviewers to take these developers to task for release a glitch-filled mess and a pathetic, 3rd-world-country customer service. Year after year little or nothing is said about these issues by game sites, whether in in-depth, investigative articles, previews, reviews, interviews or anything else. Theyll just say something like, "The controls suck!" Yea, thats some reeeaaallll depth. That shows you they only skim the surface in their reviews. I'd like reviewers to video ALL the game time and PROVE theyre no conning everyone and theyre actually doing their job.

Reviews need to somehow someway come from real gamers. I know its a strain on the profit motive to have 1 reviewer spend 40 hrs on 1 game and then expect the review site to review all the other games being released. Theres gotta be another way.

2K beats EA. I got NHL 08 at the release, sold it the day after. NHL 2K8 is a way more complete game. I don't know about Online since no one seems to play 2K8 online on PS3?

I find that signing out of Live and then signing in after each game seems to do the game justice.

I no longer have issues with online play, at least for me they've been fixed in a recent online update.

If you're willing to learn the pro controls, you'll find this game is far superior then EA's because you have so much control over your player. I purchased both and sold EA's a few days later. EA's game just feels cheap and arcady, the UI is great, but the gameplay is poor.
