There is currently a league web site underdevelopment that will be up and running before the game's launch on August 10th. The web site will outline everything regarding the league and its rules, regulations, prizes, etc. To my understanding, all statistical information will be handled by Sega on their servers so that should eliminate the need for stat-submission. This league will have playoffs. Prizes will be awarded to The Player/Team with the best overall Season Record, and the Super Bowl Champion. This is subject to change.

The official rules of the league are currently being discussed and debated. We are ALWAYS up for suggestions :). Currently, we are implementing rules such as the following:

General Rules:
Rules regarding headset usage, logging in for games, etc.

League Rules:
Rules regarding quitting, misconduct, exiting games, rescheduling matches, etc.

Gamplay Rules:
Rules regarding quarter length, difficulty, penalties, "realistic" gameplay, etc.

In response to Almyte1/League, I am glad to see that you are excited and ready to get this started! Trades as well as other transactions will all be handled on the Sega/Visual Concepts servers. However, if certain statistics are not recorded by the developers a system will be put in place for stat-submission. All trades are up to the team coaches. You may accept or reject a trade at your will. Much like the real NFL, no trade is encrypted in stone until the transaction is complete. :)

The default sounds good to me so is that if both players come to the conclusion that Legend is what they want to play we can play legend, but it one person wants to play ALL PRO, then the default is as such.

I am casting a vote for Legends. My reason for this is that on Legend, you make the plays, I feel that even though there might be some who would like the competition level to be close that is what pratice is for.


The computer will munipilate you worse that a human player would on legends but if you get your controls down a keep you head in the game you will get a much better game. In All pro you will get to much (in my opinion) help in making plays.

ESPN NFL Football League Update:

It has been announced that the game will now launch on July 20th. A link to the league web site will be sent via email this upcoming weekend. While there is no definate start date, the tentative start date of week one is set for Sunday, August 1 (debatable).

RULES/REGULATIONS:

Some players have responded with positive feedback in regards to the league rules and regulations.

Difficulty: At this time there is no way to determine whether Pro/All-Pro/Legend will be more or less difficult than it was last year. Kurupt211 had an excellent suggestion in regards to making All-Pro the default difficulty, however if both players agree, the Legend difficulty may be used. :)

4th Down Conversions: The rule in effect is:

"Team must either punt/field goal on fourth down if more than 7 yards are needed to gain the 1st. 4th quarter is an exception."

Some players feel that they reserve the right to select plays regardless of yardage needed, which is understandable. In order to level the playing field the rule has been altered as follows:

"Team must either punt/field goal on fourth down if more than 7 yards are needed to gain the 1st. 4th quarter and LOS (Line of Scrimage) inside opponents 30 yard line are an exception."

We would like to thank everyone for their participation in this league!

Case in Point on REALISM. After speaking with the coach of the Colts he played a scrimmage game with the coach of the Jags and states that the Jags had a breakaway run in the fourth to go up by four, but decieded to stop on the two yard line so that the Colts could not get the ball back. Thus allowing the time to expire. Now if were going to have real league. We need to play for real. If you "D" isnt up to the task, them you lose, but remember you have 3 TO and should be able to make adjustments on "D" to stop your opponent if not you lose. That's football. DEFENSE WIN BALL GAMES!!!

As of Monday, July 13th 24 participants have contacted Administration with their email addresses. It is imperative that all remaining members contact via email by midnight July 20.

I am happy to announce that we have filled 31 of the 32 team spots. :) There are three people on the waiting list incase a coach opts out of the league or fails to respond by the league deadline. Those on the waiting list will be sent an email confirmation stating that they are on the waiting list.

Oasis:

In response to AMPkestrel / League Coaches, I had time to look over the Oasis Football League Web site and it looks like a very promising league. It has been listed on our web site as one of the top ESPN Nfl Football League sites. I believe that the proposed idea of having the winner of our league play the winner of the Oasis Football League is one that shows promise. I ask that Oasis Personnel contact our league Administration so that we can map things out. (Note: This will not disturb any prizes awarded within our league).

Web site Update:

The official website is nearing completion :) The posted launch date is Saturday July 17th, 11:59pm. Coaches will receive a personal email thanking them for their participation in the league and providing them with a link to the site. Team Selections:
I am happy to announce that all 32 teams within our league have been filled. The majority of all coaches have RSVPed and we are finally ready to "Let the games begin...".

League Web site:
The League web site is complete and awaiting its launch date/time of July 17th, 11:59pm. The URL to the web site will be posted here on this board as well as emailed to all participants (including waiting list individuals). League Administration urges all participants to sign-up for the In-League forum upon visiting the site. Also, please check the League Rules and Regulations Page and post your comments/suggestions for changes and or additions to the league rules.

Pre-season/Scrimages:
Pre-season games or scrimages may be set up through the in-league forum. A simple challenge will suffice. Scrimages can be very useful as a way of getting to know your opponents as well as finding exploits in the game before the season's start. The league will benefit from player participation.

Rules/Regulations Email:
It has been brought to my attention that not all participants received the Rules/Regulations email. I am sorry for this inconvience however you may still critique the league rules after viewing them on the league web site.

Coaches Response:
I ask that all coaches send one final RSVP confirming your position in the league. This will be repeated in the email to be sent July 16th. Please RSVP AFTER viewing the league web site and checking the 2004 Participants List. This is a way of ensuring that every player was assigned the team of their choice. If there is a conflict with the team-coach list please include your comments in the email.

Team Drops:
Any coach who has not contacted League Administration via PM, Email, or IM by July 20th 11:59pm will lose their team. If you have already contacted League Administration your team has been reserved, however please take the time to send the final RSVP.
