Hello fellow americans. I live overseas (greece specifically). i own a pal system xbox 360 as i live here.. is there a way to play the game when it comes out on my 360 without buying a new ntsc xbox? Why do the developers put region restrictions on a game that WONT have a European or an Asian release?? I know that this is a very particular matter for all of you but i would like at least to hear some opinions about it.. I ache for not being able to play the last installment of my favorite 2k series game in the world.. COLLEGE HOOPS ROCKS please 2k sports make the game region free so that me and hundreds more buy the game we love from overseas!! all you have to do is to make the game region free.. nothing else from then on... thanks :)

p.s. if anyone has a solution to this plz enlighten me!!! :o

They probably lock it again on 360. I really would like to see some reasoning for it by a dev, but they surely won't answer.
Here's (http://2ksports.com/forums/showthread.php?t=140375) to an older thread on the topic.

oh man.... just read your thread and i feel so bad... :-(
THERE IS NO REASON FOR PUTTING REGION-RESTRICTIONS ON GAMES THAT DON'T HAVE ANOTHER RELEASE DATE EVERYWHERE ELSE IN THE WORLD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WHY??:thumbsdow :thumbsdow :thumbsdow
Why do they do that?? Someone from inside please answer to this question..
As for how many people want it i can vouch for at least 20 guys that i know that have studied in the U.S. and have loved NCAA basketball and want it... ant that is just within my circle of friends... imagine !! SOMEONE FROM 2K SPORTS BETTER ANSWER! :-)

It just makes no sense: If it was some license issue, they had to lock the PS3 version, too. It was the same last year and with all the other 2ksports titles, which never saw a release outside of North America: locked on 360, free on PS3.
I don't get it.
There was huge demand for a reg free APF release on this board - we never got any explanation for not doing so on 360.

If modding your console wasn't bound to the risk of not being able to play online, I'd get into that. And buying another console, PS3 or a NTSC 360 is not worth it to me.

Nice to see, that the support group is growing.

So will i be able to play the game on my PAL PS3?
I'm thinking about pre-ordering it, cause i'm a big College Hoops Fan and i always played it on my modded PS2.

BTW: Go Zags!

I can't guarantee it to you, but since it's the same again with NBA 2k8 (reg free on PS3, reg locked on 360) it's very likely. I'd wait till the big import online retailers get their shipments and tested it.

Alright. I've just asked that the retailer i buy most of my us-imports from.

I'll keep you updated. ;)

I've played 2K7 on PAL as well and I really hope 2K8 works as well.

I guess, we'll just have to wait and see.

Hmmm.....that guy i mailed to couldn't guarantee that the game would work on my PAL PS3.

So the only thing i've got right now is that play-asia shop which says(just like with NBA 2K8) that there's no region protection.

Well, play-asia can't have tested it, since it has not even gone gold. Seems to me that they set in their system all PS3 games to reg free, since all PS3 games have been that so far.
Maybe it's helpfull to check the blog (http://vgplus.blogspot.com/) of videogamesplus.ca from time to time or mail them directly since they provide such infos quickly there.

I mean it's very likely that it's reg free, but there is a little risk. If you just wait with your pre-order you maybe won't have the game the first day, but I think waiting a little bit longer for clarification is worth it. They can check it when they get their shipment, meaning some days before official release. Even if you order it not until then, you probably get it very close after the release date.

Thanks man, appreciate it.
There's also a forum to it. ;)

BTW: What's your favourite College?
I'm a Gonzaga Bulldogs fan, since the days of Dan Dickau.
I also like the Pac-10 a lot(which happened to be broadcasted quite often on NASN last year), cause the 2nd Final Four i saw was back in 95(on NBC Europe) when the O'Bannon brothers led the UCLA Bruins to title.

I'm not really a fan of a single college team, I just follow the whole thing a bit, mainly catching up what happend the whole year during NBAs pre-season as an additional bball fix to pass the time.

I've just e-mailed with another retailer. He did some in depth researching about it and didn't find anything that mentiones it being region coded. He also didn't knew anything himself about that game being region coded. So, as of right now, it looks really good for us and we'll probably be able to play the game on our PAL PS3's.

it sounds like a problem with microsoft. if they do it for one and not the other it probably has something to do with microsoft not wanting to get their material over into other parts of the world

What difference does it makes to Microsoft? There are a lot of region-free games for 360, include a Microsoft Games titles. I've receintly e-mailed 2k Sports asking about 360 NTSC version of CH 2k8, i received answer that says they don't have any plans to release region-free games for 360.
