Full 32 team NFL league

I joined an NFL league about 2 months back and it eventually failed because of too many inactive people. All of the active players decided to start fresh and turn on flex schedule, and we're short about 10 people. Hopefully, we get these teams filled quickly so we can start the league. This league is only for active players that will have no problem getting at least one game in a week.

This will be the only 32 team NFL league running. So the stat page should be perfect reflecting every NFL team.

A couple of rules:
No Finesse and Power ability
Gold tiered players must have 3 abilites
Rosters must reflect 2007 NFL statistics

I agree that it is extremly hard to get a full 32 team league to work, but over half of these guys have stuck it out through 2 failed attempts at a 32 team league. We just need these other teams filled with just as active players and it will work. Plus, the schedule is flex so there won't be as many scheduling conflicts.

And for an NFL league, the best way to do it is with a full 32 team league so every team in the NFL is accounted for.

right but thornton is the leading tackler, and bullock is actually in a down year and moulds is the leading receiver, that is why he got the bump over williams. has assumed the role of the possession receiver which is why his yards are down, but i am flexible i can flip flop them just looking to play some good games with even better people. will join up either later tonight or first thing in the morning

I am not joining because I am in too many leagues already, but I would recommend a limit on speed attributes as well.

The following HBs could realistically have Speed Burner:

Brian Westbrook, Reggie Bush, Leon Hall, Justin Fargas, Willie Parker, Maurice Drew.

The following HBs could realistically have Breakaway Burst:

Clinton Portis, Steven Jackson, Maurice Morris, Adrian Peterson, Jerious Norwood, Marshawn Lynch, Ronnie Brown, Ladainian Tomlinson, Chris Brown.

That is it.

But I promise you people will make Gold backs with Speed Burner and Breakaway Burst who will be like no other backs in the game (i.e. they will make Gale Sayers look like he is running in slow motion). Someone in our NFL league made Frank Gore with speed burner. I about did a double take. I mean he is a power back akin to a young Jamal Lewis. I looked up his 40 time and it was 4.55. In 2K5 that would have been about a 87 speed whereas someone with speed burner is in the mid to upper 90s. I think the speed attributes are way more abused than finesse and power.

I would also make it so that you couldn’t make a backup running back as your starter unless 1.) you made the starter also at the same or a higher level, or 2.) unless the starter was hurt in real life. Because people would take a Leon Hall because he is fast and make him the starter even though he would never start over Thomas Jones in real life, and likewise with Devin Hester, etc.

Those are just my tips on making the league realistic, if that is your goal. Quick Release is another attribute I would limit. It is pretty significant that of all the great QBs in this game, only 1 has Quick release, in the same way it is significant that of all the great RBs only 1 has finesse and power. The attribute refers to something very special. Of course all running backs in the NFL are ***fast*** in the sense that they can outrun people, but Speed Burner refers to a legendary type of speed that few people have. Similarly all QBs in the NFL have a Rocket Arm and a Quick Release compared to, say, most college QBs, but those attributes indicate a special degree of it that other players don't have. I think most gamers miss this point when they create players, or (more likely) they don't care and just want to make their own players as dominant as possible despite the fact that it makes the players they create totally unrealistic.

i disagree about Clinton Portis. He clocked two 40 times in the low 4.3's, therefore he should have all the quick abilities of a back a la OJ Simpson.

OK, well he was at least on my radar (I gave him breakaway burst). Some people take a while to get going and I think he is one of them. Call it acceleration or explosiveness. That's why I gave him Breakaway and not speed burner. Because I think he could out run people but not be just super fast all the time like a Willie Parker. In my defense also I haven't seen him play in a while. He has played, what 12 or 13 games in the last 2 years?

Surely you can at least agre with me that Shaun Alexander, Frank Gore, Thomas Jones, Edgerrin James, etc. should not have Speed Burner. But you just watch, people will give them Speed Burner and Breakaway Burst and they will be unstoppable because they will be VERY fast.

I don't feel like we're close. I will be surprised if we play any games. After a week we are still 10!!! teams short, and the longer we go the more people will start dropping because they think nothing will ever happen. I just joined for the heck of it.

Alright, I've tried for weeks to get this thing filled up but it just isn't happening. I thought there would be more interest in a mock NFL type of league. We're only 10 shy of filling the league, but its getting harder to find people willing to join.

I can't change the number of people in the league or I would make it 22 right now so it would be full. If someone else wants to start another league and make it 16 people or something, go for it. I'm going to try and get this league off the ground by this week.

If you look at the Madden rankings as 90+ Gold, 80-90 Silver, and 79- as Bronze, then he's a borderline Gold. I can see him being either Gold or Silver, depending on how you want to create him.

The only Packer players who should be given godl consideration are Farve, Driver, Harris, and Barnett. No way is C-Wood a gold.

I made Ronnie a gold before but was messing around with the team just to see who was better where. I believe we should make the teams realistic. If somebody is a gold rb then make them a gold rb, dont make a silver wr gold just because you are better at throwing than running.

They even tried to switch to a 3-4 putting Sapp at DE with pretty disastrous results. Just about any corner is going to struggle when they are fighting injuries and especially when a lack of a pass rush is giving the WRs he's covering lots of time to run around and get open. That team was a mess and is only now starting to recover.

I am not so sure that closing speed does anything on a DE. I thought it only applied to DBs. But maybe it does. Culpepper with Rocket Arm is a no-brainer.

There’s a couple of things that were raised that I should address.

First, bronze quarterbacks can perform. I had Brady Quinn in our league and he was lead leader in passing yards and TDs for awhile, albeit with 2 gold receivers. I gave him laser arm and he seemed fairly accurate. I made Derrick Anderson a bronze and he is playing like at least a silver so far. And just giving a bronze QB ‘rocket arm’ isn’t legit. Cleo Lemon is a bronze QB and his only ability should be scrambler. There should be no debate over any other ability for Lemon.

Another thing is the Brett Favre argument. In my opinion, he should be gold. Right now, he’s probably the 4th best QB in the league (Brady, Manning, Romo, Favre). But this is up to you. I think Woodson and Favre would be good fits for golds but it’s up to you. Your team is looking fine. BUT PLEASE INCLUDE A RUNNING BACK!!!

Looks like my initial creation was pretty accurate with the exception of Curry being graded slightly higher than Lamont Jordan (1pt difference).

It seems Micheal Huff graded out higher than I expected at 68 good for 11th on the team tied with Jordan. I thought about dropping Zach Miller for Huff, but I needed an extra weapon on offense. Huff would have been a bronze anyways.

BTW I checked out the Packers to settle the Favre thing and here are their Top 10 players breakdown...

I joined an NFL league about 2 months back and it eventually failed because of too many inactive people. All of the active players decided to start fresh and turn on flex schedule, and we're short about 10 people. Hopefully, we get these teams filled quickly so we can start the league. This league is only for active players that will have no problem getting at least one game in a week.

This will be the only 32 team NFL league running. So the stat page should be perfect reflecting every NFL team.

A couple of rules:
No Finesse and Power ability
Gold tiered players must have 3 abilites
Rosters must reflect 2007 NFL statistics

ok I have never played All-Pro before (just got it last week), but loved the NFL 2k series, I probably owned 5 of those games. So I have no idea how the games like, only that it's quite similar to the previous games. I just found this board today and leagues sound very interesting, I just don't know how they exactly work. Is there a page that explains the basics of leagues?

I am totally down to try this out if I can get help from people, so I know what I need to do. I'm pretty sure I'll be able to keep up with the league (play my games). oc, leagues aren't that complicated. see the 'online league' tab at the top of the page. after you join a league you click that tab and it takes you to your all pro leagues. you can talk on a message board and look at stats on this page.

i'll give you the saints oc. post your team (2 golds, 3 silvers, 6 bronzes). Brees should probably be gold and Bush could be gold or silver. then give them abilites that you think fit.

stholster, the browns are taken. i'm the owner of the browns. let me know what other team you want from the list i created and then post your team on here.

that should be it. the league will begin once st and oc join.

ok thanks i'll use these tips as a guide. I'm in the process of making my team, it's probably going to look like FRANTesticles' suggestions (I was already going to put Brees and Bush as gold and Colston and Smith as silver). I'll probably finish it up tomorrow morning.

I haven't had time to finish the team up yet. I created all the players so far, who probably don't look like their real life counterparts haha. I did get their heights, weights, #'s, and skin tones right. I'll try to finish tonight.

The players are ranked exactly the way FRANS set it up, with similar abilities.

Question: when I create the team, will I be able to give it the Saints name? I haven't gotten around to messing with team creation/editing yet.

I have all bronze receivers. Only one has soft hands, Marty Booker. Ginn Jr. has speed burner, David Martin, a TE, has bulldozer and they catch everything. So I don't think just because they are a bronze receiver they need to have soft hands, its just not who they are in real life.

I think its moreso play selection than anything else. if you choose a play where you're player is gonna get nailed before a catch or a defender is right near him when he catches, he will have trouble catching the ball. I only gave Marty Booker soft hands cus he doesn't have many abilities in real life.

IMO 8 is too long. 5 is just fine as it take about 45-60 min. 6 minutes is OK but pushing it imo.

edit: i got on live to check the status of the league and it says the league is full even though we need 2 more people to join. it's giving me the option to generate the schedule, but when i do it says "failed to generate schedule, please try again later."

i don't know what is going on and i don't think there is a solution that will fix this problem.

we're going to have to start another league and have everyone join it. hopefully this can be done in a quicker fashion than our current attempt. i will be getting on live and will try to generate the schedule one more time and if it doesn't let me, i will be starting another league and will be sending everyone in the league messages on live telling them the new league details.

sorry, this is taking far too long. im just as impatient as the rest of you guys. just keep in mind, the quicker everyone joins the new league, the quicker we'll begin.

However many people say they will join you should subtract 4 or 6 and make it that way. I am out. I deleted my team after i joined and I can't make it again because I have to keep my Colts team for anohter NFL league.

Alright, someone dropped from the league and i think it fixed the problem. It now says "waiting for 2 people to join" instead of 'waiting for schedule to be generated.' So heres the plan, we're going to fill this league w/ the final 2 spots and see if it will let me generate the schedule this time. if you dropped out of the NFL 08 league please rejoin it as soon as possible.
