I am confused, if people not even registered for the tournament get ahead of us, and we dont get in the top 64 online players, we aren't in the tournament?
Or... are you simply going to go through the leaderboards at the end looking for the registered people and ranking us that way, ignoring all people that are ahead of us not registered...

TA i'm playing with no router and for the pass 3 hours out of 15 games only got to play 2 and i won 3 but the game froze at the end and didnt count. WTF man i have phone and phone and phone about this for over a month now and nothing has been done about it. i'm missing out on games cause your online system, none of my other games do this. you really need to talk to IT about this cause it sucks that the guy on top might not be the best but is the one with the lease amount of netwrok error.

I have been in contact with some people at 2k and trying to see if they have any recommendations.

I've been attempting to sign in, even late last night. But the register/login screen is the same, and it keeps saying i'm already registered when i try to sign in. Also can't access the leaderboards yet either.
Am interested to hear 2k's solutions for the game as well. Hopefully they come up with a new way.

Its just a bug in the way the online was coded years ago by 2K... even when Microsoft had a little tournament here it had to be postponed because of that problem, this was back in 06. If it wasn't fixed in the last 2 years, I'm doubtful anything can be done this year, maybe next :).

Its called a patch. I know tonnes about computers, there is no reason this game shouldn't have 2k people working 24/7 right now to fix it. To make people pay for shoddy work is against the law i'm quite sure. It would be different if this was the first year this has happened. But this continually happens, tonnes of 3 year old glitches by now at least. Its ridiculous.

What is your gamertag? Is it possible that you have already registered?

Oh so thats only a registration, i don't have to "Login" on that page. Cuz whenever i click on a gamertag it sends me to the home page. Just wondering.
I"m glad i can look at the leaderboards. I'm "Dopecanuckfan" and in NHL 2k3-2K6 (not that it matters, but for all the others that might read this) i was "Vanhalendlrband" or "Vhdlrband" 10th at one point during the 2K6 year. Made it to 14th the other day then for some reason my nerves just gave out on me and every game i tried to play my hands were shaking, but oh well i lost i lost. No excuses.
I am curious tho about on e thing in this tournament, i know you can't watch the games and all. But i don't think 2K realised that all the really lousy goals from 2K7 are still able to be performed on 2K7 controls, and then if somebody dekes with 2K8 controls those people who use cheesy 2K7 goals start calling you down and won't play you after. Even if you are the one retaliating with their "cheezer" game play. Doesn't matter i'll still beat all of them once i get back to 100%.
Oh and the 1 "quit" i have was me and Supercheebs arguing and my time ran out and even tho he just sent me a message he made me quit. Total crap i was down 5-2 in the 3rd, and i made it 5-4 with like half the period to go, and he cheezed me out like that. I know the time limits are there for a reason, but thats so stupid. He was sending me messages.

Hey,
sorry to bring this up. But according to the rules it says that residents of Quebec aren't allowed to enter the competition.
It seems to me that there have been a few people from Quebec that have entered and started competing. Have the rules changed? if so. cool. If not. You guys might want to take a look in that also.
thanks

It says right in the rules man. It has to do with stupid laws, i agree its totally dum, Quebec people should be with the rest of the Canadians. But if i remember my recent Social Studies 11 course that i got an A in, it has something to do with the way the government is setup in Quebec, because its not like all the other provinces and there's so many different laws cuz Quebec can't just speak french they gotta make EVERYTHING different than English people for some reason, and thats why you can't sign up to, or at least if you made it all the way you wouldn't receive the prizes.
If you look up pretty much every Canadian contest in history, i think even the new Monopoly game at McDonalds excludes Quebec because of legal reasons. I just can't quite remember what laws in Quebec make it so difficult for contests.
This is the reason tho, 2k probably doesn't even know this is why, this is more into the legal spectrum of things.

Somthing to do with having to setup an arbitration to make sure contests are fair and what not, just for quebec. Not worth the expences for most companies, as you said 90% of contests in canada and the us exclude Quebec, with that said, I just finished beating sir Felix, fun it was.

I don't know how you could play king felix, in the few mins that we played he did nothing but the same move, i have no respect for people that play like that. There a thing called pride and if he made it to the finals would he play like that with all those people watching? 2k would be ashamed and if there was real hockey players watching they would just think that is so sad.
I'm sure those kind of people don't really care about hockey at all and I'm sure they don't care about what I'm saying but i wanted to say it anyways.

There are people alot worst, I played Felix twice... the first one he beat me... but wasnt an extreme cheapo like some people. I'm sure you'll come accross the extreme cheapo's as the tournament goes on... unfortunatly...
With that said, what is the difference in SIM and regular ranked games in the advanced lobby? is it slower speed?
AKA AO
October 19th, 2007, 11:56 PM
sim setting are true to hockey even though its not as hard as i would like. arcade or advance lobby is more fast pace, if you like alot of goals and break-a-ways back and forth then thats great for you, but sim is more like real hockey where defence matters.
as for people that are worst in being cheap i would put him as cheap as most people i don't know how you can be any worst trying the same move the whole game., but what can you do? when you hide behind the internet you can do anything.

Well i've though the same to and discussed it as well , 95% of the players i've played look at it as a video game and they need to beat bosses (opponent) or whatever they see it like, but no one in the top of the leaderboards i've played have tried to play hockey at all, nothing!! and if you play the top 10 their usual main mentality is trying to find that one timer from the deep corner, it's a joke, i suck at this game but if any of this guys were to play a real hockey mentality like player on this game they all would get destroyed.

i agree i'm kind of in the top 10 i go from 1-20 depending on how much i play and 95% do noting but the same move when i look at that it makes me sick, it just a slap in the face to hockey.

THe contest rules dont' seem to matter anyways all six quebec players are able to play, and two of them leading the leaderboards just fine. I guess it doesn't matter to them about the prizes, they won't be able to have them. Chance for someone at 2K to take some prizes home from the all-star game if people out of territory win, isn't there a few american states too?

Ya but Gamespot and Felix have no shot at winning it, they are terrible and I have played both of them so I know, the only reason they are ranked 1 and 2 is because they got like 100 games and I got like 30. Ya but if they were allowed you can mark my words they will not last
They both will not play me now and they say it is because of my rep but yet Ive played them and it was good games, they are just scared, thats all!!!

I honestly, from past experience, don't see how you're any better than they are.
You guys both get the same amount of shots against me, the only difference is those wraparounds, where had it been a real sim hockey game you'd never score those goals 10 times a game, winning games 18-2. I mean come on man, i find it so funny how you and cheebs are dissing the leaderboards for playing the exact same way you guys do.

Rankings for the tournament are not based on total wins. Please refer to the official rules:
"The number of points earned and the contestant rankings are calculated using a version of the ELO rating system in which the points awarded will depend on the quality of the competition. Contestants who play and beat others who are closely ranked will receive fewer points than when they play and beat others who are ranked significantly higher. Conversely, beating contestants who are ranked lower will move the winning contestants lower on the leader board."
Also, players who are from ineligible locations will be disqualified before the playoffs start.

How are the brackets going to work, will everyone be placed randomly, or are you going to be choosing who goes against who, or best vs worst type deal. Just wondering.
